The place has a very unassuming façade which looks more like a garage than a restaurant. But once you're inside, you will be surprised to find that the place is huge and is full of collectible vintage items. It really is amazing, from the vinyl records to the old plate numbers to the old movie posters, there's just so much to see in there. But it isn't just a place to visit for the décor. They have amazing food as well. So I'm just going to get this out there: Their nachos are the bomb! I've had nachos in big fancy restaurants, but they don't even compare to what Fat Frank's has to offer. It has meat. It has cheese. It has sour cream. It has salsa. It has jalapenos. It has all the good things you want in a huge order of nachos. If you're looking for a great date place where you can save money (but really don't want to look cheap), this is it. Just fill up on the nachos and their creamy, lovely milkshakes and you're pretty much set. An order of entrée is just icing on the cake...trust me, by the time you get to the main dish, you're already full. I highly recommend Fat Frank's to anyone into the American Diner feel and taste.

My sister's medium boneless ribeye came out more rare than my medium rare and she finally had to settle for ribs! Which were actually edible. Biggest problem was the cutlery! The serrated steak knives were so dull and bent, you couldn't even cut a tender steak if you got one. If you can't even give your customers a decent knife, don't complain when they send back a steak. I give the manager credit for apologizing and doing what she could but Expats beware. If you're craving a good steak, save your $ and go to Wolfgang's. I understand that things are different here in the PI. I'm amazed that there is so much variety among restaurants. But it is not the fault of the locals when the restaurant company gives them cheap tools and products just to cut costs! Bad cooking is something else, though. A horrible experience at a Mesa restaurant actually made my wife go back in the kitchen and show the chef in training how to make adobo! Overall, I love the PI and the local cuisine. I think I'll stick to the chain restaurants that I know for certain are consistent.

They're Seasoned, thin-cut, crispy, zesty fries! Yum. Something I like more than their fries, is their Onion Rings which I usually dip in their very own spicy garlic sauce! I usually order either their fries, or the onion rings with the best brewed iced tea ever.. their LIBERTY Iced tea. Army Navy surprised me with how good their Tortilla Soup! It has a kick of Jalapeno, and a lot of tomato goodness! Another amazing dish of theirs is the Queridia Mia Verde which is an open faced quesadilla packed with mozarrella cheese, cheddar cheese, green bell pepper, onions, jalapeno, tomatoes, cilantro, guacamole, and sour cream.... What is this awesome sorcery???!!! Actually, Army Navy is really known for their burritos too, and the best one for me, being the breakfast person that I am, is their Breakfast Burrito (beef, hashbrown and Scrambled eggs)... This wins by default, but always with good reason. They're the best! I'm just really intrigued why they made their counters like that. It's so hard to communicate. But that's just me. Being a creature of habit, I always end up going for their steak burrito. That handful mix of Spanish rice, meat, beans, onions and sour cream (yum!) is great on its own, but put guacamole in it and it's phenomenal. The burrito is quite big and really filling so I usually eat the first half when I'm there and save the remaining half when I get hungry at home. I can eat all of it in one sitting, but I might not be able to participate in devouring the Blueberry Freedom Toast that is our dessert. I may always order burrito, but I also always take a bite from my siblings' orders so I know that their quesadilla is sinfully cheesy, and their fried chicken leans a bit on the spicy side. My brother's favorite breakfast burrito is also habit-forming. Still, I'm making a mental note to try more items on their menu (like the milkshake and nachos) on my next visit.

I love that they are able to make this breakfast classic a handy snack that you could eat at just about any time of the day. The waffles are cooked on the spot when you order so it takes about 3 to 5 minutes to prepare each one. Worth the wait to get a warm waffle with crisp side which is generously filled with your choice of sweet or savory flavors. You can get plain ones that are good like hazel nut or strawberry. I personally like their cream cheese line - get either the strawberry cream cheese or the blueberry cream cheese. If you want something that tastes like an American classic, try the Peanut Butter and Strawberry. I love how the chunky unsweetened strawberry goes really well with their jam which has real strawberry bits. It's no wonder the brand is growing exponentially in Manila. I've seen franchise branches in just about every mall I've been to - from SM to Makati Square. Since I often stop to grab a bite there, I could honesty tell you that they have very good quality control. All their branches produce the same quality of waffles with identical flavors, no matter where you get it from.
