Heard about Fat Tire Bike Tours on Trip Advisor and after walking in Berlin for two days we needed to get off our feet. Our guide,Alex (tall Alex) give us lots of insight into the sites of Berlin that were not in the guide book. This is a great city and there is a respect for bikers so get on a bike and learn about this fascinating city and it's complicated past. I've now done this tour twice in 7 years. If you want an English speaking tour of Berlin to cover all the main sights, this is your best bet. Comfy easy to ride bikes, a knowledgeable and whimsical guide, a fun group, and a much too short stop in a beer garden (although this is probably in your best interest...) make this a fun time, and you will not be too tired to continue on your way with the rest of your visit, whereas if you had walked this entire distance you would need a new pair of shoes. read more

The Potsdam bike tour was a great way to see such a beautiful area. We visited multiple palaces and gardens, including Sansoucci and the site of the Potsdam conference. The bike tour allowed us to see a lot in Potsdam that would have been impossible on foot in a 6 hour time frame. All in all, it's a great way to see Potsdam. The guide (Simon) coordinated the train transportation and lunch, which was an enjoyable traditional german cafe. Cool and calm, Simon also did a great job dealing with some of the needier tour members. I was extremely impressed when how he dealt with a popped tire about 15 minutes before the end of the biking tour. Rather that make us late for the train, he gave the tour member his bike and literally ran the bike on its good wheel back to the station. I'm pretty sure the majority of the tour members didn't realize his consideration, which is just another example of how Simon make things run smoothly. Fat Tire Bike Tours is a must-do in Berlin! What a fantastic way to see, experience, and learn about the city! My family and I did 2 different tours- the general city tour and then an evening food tour. The first gave us an excellent overview of the city with a focus on history. Our guide was absolutely hysterical- he had everybody laughing the entire time, but also was brimming with great information. He answered all of the questions the group had. Though the trip was many hours long, it flew by and we enjoyed every second. It wasn't strenuous as Berlin is a flat city. The second tour we did focused on food and the different neighborhoods of Berlin. We went to three restaurants and were very well-fed at each. Delicious! The guide was very pleasant and we felt like this particular tour gave us a more intimate and cultural perspective of the city. Awesome job!!! Everybody should consider this company when planning their trip to Berlin. Finding the location for Fat Tire Bike was the hardest part of the tour! Luckily even though we arrived a little late, they were only getting into introductions. This tour seems really popular and I can see why! It was an awesome way to see the city. My brother and I had been doing our own tour of the city, but this bike tour shed a different light on the city for us. Our tour guide gave us info it seemed only locals would know about. He pointed out areas we had missed throughout our own tour of the city..like the book burning memorial and the site of Hitler's demise. I chose the day tour, 4.5 hours cycling around Berlin..... It was a great, easy way to see the city, the cycling was at a very easy pace, I am far from a gym bunny and didnt feel like i struggled at all, also, you dont have to be a super confident cyclist either, the tour mainly sticks to cycle lanes or pathways. The tour itself stops at most of the top sights whereby the guide gave a full low down of the history, he seemed very knowledgable the only negative i would have is that there is not much time to walk around each of the sights so you will have to plan that into your schedule if there is something in particular you want to see. Lunch is not included, but when the tour only costs €28, you cant really expect feeding on top. The tour does stop at a beer garden in the Tiergarten where you can refuel, the food is pricey for what it is (€9) for cold bulk bought cous cous and 2 small sausages but in the end, it served its purpose. Would definitely recommend anyone to do this, even if you are not sporty spice but fancy doing things differently for once. read more

We only had 1 full day to see Berlin which is nearly impossibly considering that Berlin is 9 times the size of Paris. We definitely made the perfect choice by doing a bike tour. We biked around for 5 hours seeing the major WW2 sites as well as getting a detailed history from our guide. We had a amazing time seeing the city this way. We were really able to soak up a lot of Berlin's history and culture. The bike tour also included dining at a local biergarten. The tour guide was awesome. He was American born and very knowledgeable in Berlin's history. (I wish I could remember his name so I can give him the proper kudos he deserves.) When you arrive they set you up with the best bike for your needs and ensure that you are safe and comfortable for the ride. One of the highlights of my trip to Berlin! If you have a limited amount of time in Berlin but want to make sure you hit all the historical spots and learn about all its rich history, then this tour is perfect. Visiting from the other side of the Atlantic with our lacrosse program from Monmouth University. The Fat Tire Bike Tour was easily the best adventure we went on while staying in Berlin. We split into 3 groups for the Tour. My group had Daniel guiding us around. Daniel was originally from The Six but moved to Berlin not to long ago and had magnificent historical perspectives to share with us along the way. We stopped at Checkpoint Charlie and Daniel drew a map on the ground with chalk to give us a chalk talk on how Germany, Berlin were split up after WW2. Our group's eyes were glued to the chalk talk.. something about Chalk Talks really keeps our boys entertained. The stop at the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe had a profound effect on everyone. This sort of monument was something our players just read about in textbooks but to see and walk through it in person, put the time period in perspective for them. Daniel had also explained about the architecture about each building, Daniel pretty much left no stone unturned throughout the 3 hour ride. Daniel also had a solid pedaling pace in between stops, not to fast and not to slow so we could look around as we go. Lastly the Bike's had names on them for example my bike was named "Valley Of The King's".. we all know Kings Stay Kings. 10/10 would highly recommend the Fat Tire Bike Tour, and thank you again from Monmouth Lacrosse! read more

There are some big mistakes people in Berlin have made over time - supporting communism, skipping a serving of currywurst...the list goes on. But the most grievous of errors would quite easily be not being a part of the Fat Tire Bike Tours. I've had the pleasure of visiting the one in Paris (superb), and Barcelona (pretty good), but the Berlin Fat Tire Bike Tour is THE way to explore this city. The guides are well-informed - think Rick Steves but without the sing-song NPR-style cadence. You hit the major high points, and it takes quite a bit of time. It's an incredible value and highly worth doing. Pro Tip: we did this on our first morning in the city, and it proved to be a smart way to get a good survey of what we wanted to explore on our later days. Kyla was our guide - if you get the chance, try to casually saunter over to her group as they divide everyone up. She's super-awesome, knows her Berlin, and you will definitely have a great time. We had Kate as our tour guide and both the tour and the guide were fantastic. We took the general tour around Berlin and it was a wonderful intro into the city. We saw a lot of the key tourist spots and received the history behind them, but never felt overwhelmed by the amount of information. We particularly liked Kate because she was personable, down-to-earth, and memorized all of our names (a group of 20) within the first hour. I would recommend taking a bike tour as opposed to a walking tour because it keeps you off of your feet and you are less exhausted by the end of the day.
