One star is being way too generous. I scheduled F&S Moving for a move and confirmed with them 3 days before. Day of move no truck at scheduled time, no contact. Finally got ahold of someone, truck broke down unable to get replacement. I was told they would have a crew there next day, confirmed. Next day no truck no crew. No contact for 3 hours, I called multiple times no answer. Finally left a VM and email cancelling their services for no show for 2 days. After 3 hours late on day 2, received email, no phone calls that a crew was being assembled. 6 hours after their scheduled arrival time driver called that they were at the house. This was for a 150 mile condo move. Driver was unaware of cancellation, he was unable to get ahold of his office. Stay away... far away from Father & Son. read more

I rarely give one star (check my other reviews) but the service we received was awful. We essentially moved twice. We were convinced to use their storage but we were never told it was $70 each time you need to take something out and there was no access on weekends. They conveniently left that out. Needless to say we quickly needed to move out of there. Our new storage unit is smaller and 100 dollars less. We also can access whenever we want. During the first move they were told several times to not take two boxes in our kitchen to put into storage. They did but assured us they would put them aside for when we moved out of storage(lie). Any time I couldn't answer a call during my work day Alesia would give me an attitude. The last time we spoke she made a point to give me an attitude about it when we were speaking on the phone how I was never able to pick up. That's why you have my husbands phone number. We went over several times what needed to be moved into our apartment and what needed to be stored. Three times. They put our bed together incorrectly and brought an incorrect item and never brought our tv stand. They claimed they were back to their location ( not possible it was twenty minutes after they left and it takes 45 minutes to get back to their facility) and it would be $550 more to comeback out and deliver the piece they failed to deliver. We went back and forth on the phone with them and they refused to do it. I visited our storage unit and there is no rhyme or reason to the way they unloaded we had furniture fall on us as we tried to get to our boxes which were being crushed under furniture. I have waited over a year hoping F&S would "come through" and reconcile the damage to our property presumably while in storage, during our actual move and after when we opened our bins. After multiple attempts: phone messages and emails, I am left with needing to leave a review. They scratched my piano also resulting in damaging my storm door. I was informed I was not to repair anything until a surveyor inspected the items. Then opening my Christmas decorations which I meticulously packed as there were family heirlooms, crystal, and hand blown and painted ornaments. When I opened the bin, the were crushed and disorganized boxes forced back in with shards of glass throughout. Again, I cannot file a claim on my homeowners policy. And so I wait. And wait. I left a vague message with my married name to get someone to return my call only to be told that's "not my department...." And I still wait. Worse moving company ever! They arrived 4 hours late and then upon starting broke a huge box of my china. Then their truck broke down and we had to take them to get fluid to start it back up. Next when we arrived to our new home they broke the front screen door, a light fixture and did not put our king size bed back together properly at all. Pros: - Communication was quick. - The quote was the best I got shopping around. - They were able to accommodate a date change, when my closing was moved up. Cons: - The moment they arrived to move me, they started mentioning tips. That continued through the move, hints about tips, outright mention of how they should be tipped, etc. Like I get it, I'm planning on it, but maybe concentrate on the work for now. - They left without putting my daughter's desk together. There were two parts. I called the office, was on the phone, they were trying to track the truck down, in the meantime I found the screws, so I said never mind, I'll just do it. The guys entire reaction was "Ok, so you're all set then?"....Maybe try to be just a tad apologetic, saying "Hey buddy, sorry about that, glad you got it sorted" would've been better. - They messed up two screws on my bed frame, I couldn't figure out for days what that noise was, until I removed the mattress and box spring, and realized 2 screws got stripped at some point, so they weren't able to tighten then, so now every time I move, the lose part under the box spring rattles. Nice. There are some things that you should save money on, some you probably should care more about the service provider. I wish I did a little more due diligence researching them. read more

SKETCHY!!!!Everything seemed fine until they refused to confirm anything by email! When I insisted on written confirmation of the booking - date / time, confirmation they've noted it's a walk up, number of guys they'd send, address, etc to give me peace of mind that a truck would actually show up on the day of the move, they called me a "worry wart" and said they've been doing this this way for for years. Only reason I even considered giving them 2 stars and not one is that their site is easy to navigate and clear (sucker bait!). My Aunt is moving after selling her home in Bloomfield CT where she has lived for 20+ years, and since they have two other homes that are fully furnished, she basically told all of the family "if you would like it, come and get it"! Of course, that does not apply to me since I do not live in one of the surrounding towns as everyone else does in my family. I very much wanted her sofa which was a million times nicer than mine, plus a piece of antique furniture in the dining room, plus two other items (one being my Great Grandmother's rocking chair that is probably 70+ years old). She arranged for the move, and the same guys who picked up at her house brought it to me two days later. I wish I had taken a photo of the rocking chair since it was an amazing job, wrapped with more heavy-duty bubble wrap then I ever could have imagined (old, delicate legs and spindles on that chair!!). It took me a good 30 minutes to cut off all the bubble wrap, but that's a good thing. I want the chair to out-live me. The guys were nice and right on time (important since my building only has one freight elevator and I had it reserved for just a short period of time). read more

I was quoted a rate of $160/hr for three men and a truck. I wanted them to come as early as possible, and was told they would be there between 9:00a - 10:00a. They clocked in at 10:30a. First they give me a sheet about their "tipping policy". I don't think if a company is charging $160+ and hour they should be asking for tips. Next time I'm going to prepare my tipping policy and give the movers a copy of it. I wanted a full service, local move. That is packing, moving and unpacking. Given the high prices and careless packing, it's little wonder most people do this themselves. Some companies charge a flat rate for packing or include it with their rate - I was charged per box. They charged me 1.5 hours for travel time, to/from Ridgefield. That is annoying, as I should have tried harder to find a local mover, however the kicker is they want overtime after eight hours. That means at best you are getting 6.5 hours of work. Add on to that their stop for lunch, which they didn't clock out for. During the unload the crew boss was on his phone for 30 minutes trying to pay a bill for a friend. At the end of the day, they have to call the dispatcher and total up the bill. This took over 30 minutes, as they dispatcher kept putting them on hold. You can't write a personal check and they charge 3% for credit cards. Father and Son, like other movers, wrap the smallest of items in the kitchen in huge amounts of paper, going through all sorts of dish barrel boxes. When it came to packing my books, it appears they dumped the bookcase into a box. I had to meet the cable guy at the new place, so I left while they were finishing up. They managed to leave at least one item of value in each room, such as my college diploma in my office, a Monet print in my living room, my spice risers in the kitchen, etc.. The fuel surcharge was certainly not disclosed over the phone, and is completely ridiculous when oil is at historic lows. read more

They cancelled on me 90 minutes before the time they were supposed to show up to move all the furniture in my entire house. They said to give them until noon and they would update me on a reschedule. In an hour I rented a uhaul, moved most of the stuff myself that day, then I had to call them for an update later in the day (after the time they said they would call me), and they had zero update. read more

Pros. Fast and easy and very nice guys. Cons. 1.Even though boxes were marked fragile or heavy, they were still stacked haphazardly and flipped at times resulting in some broken glasses (glasses were wrapped in wrap). 2. Furniture was not wrapped in pads/blankets and media console has a nice dime sized impact on the top of it. Looks like something of weight either dropped on it or was stacked on it. 3. computer monitor mysteriously is not working post move, not sure what happened to it during the move but not working now. best guess is that it dropped/fell over. would i use them again? probably but i would be a bit more proactive about things being wrapped and care taken with the boxes. read more

If I could give this company less than 1 stars I would! I'm actually kicking myself for not reading all of the terrible reviews before I chose them! I mean you never really know. Some people write great reviews and there are always those few bad ones so you kind of take your chances right? I had my things in storage with them for 6.5 months. I originally chose them because they said they were professional piano movers and I have a piano that has been in the family for 100 years. It is very special to me so I wanted to choose a company that knew what they were doing. After reading about them and having the guy on the phone explain their process, I decided to choose them. They also had given me the best price around. The first problem I experienced Was that they gave me a quote of $150 a month for storage. After it was already there for a month and by the time my bill came around it was $200 for the month. I called them and they told me that it was no longer 150, which I had already signed for. it was 200 because they needed a little bit bigger of a storage place. After explaining to them that that's not my fault I had signed and agreed on 150, they said that they would not keep my things unless I paid 200. So I paid. What could I do? When I got my things out about three weeks ago, they told me that they were going to be at my house on a certain date and time. That date rolled around and at 9 AM I was waiting for them. When they did not show up by 11, I called them and they told me that they had no idea what I was talking about and that they didn't even have me on the schedule to move that day. I had even a confirmation email from them saying that they would be there that day and they sounded pissed and said "OK well we're gonna have to get a crew together." When they delivered all of my things, the first thing that I looked at was my piano. Sad to say I don't even know if it can be repaired. I don't know what happened to it but all of the keys were raised tilted to one side and were Stiff & they would not go down. The guys said that he had no idea what happened. He was on the phone with his manager and told us that they would pay for repairs. When I give them a call the next day the manager had no idea what we were talking about and said that they would most definitely not pay for repairs. I am so beyond upset and frustrated. I have also come to find out that there is damage to a lot of my furniture. It's almost like they brought it to the warehouse and just threw it down. A lot of my furniture has nicks, scratches on some parts or even broken. I am definitely going to be taking legal action because this is horrible and we paid them a lot of money! If anybody is thinking about moving please do not use this company. I had no idea because of some of the good reviews. TL; DR: DO NOT USE THEM FOR MOVING PIANOS NO MATTER HOW CHEAP IT'S NOT WORTH IT! I hired them to move my piano which is valued at the cost of a new SUV. I was comparing three places and I really should have gone with Lindebald, even though they were $300 more. These people from F&S almost trashed my beloved instrument. Their website says: "our staff is experienced in moving pianos of all shapes and sizes" which is a statement that makes me roll my eyes so hard now I'm still having trouble seeing straight. Let me start from the beginning. Brendan was very aggressive when it comes to getting my business. When he found out that I was getting someone to move for a cheaper price, he offered to match the price (close enough) and was willing to do Saturdays. Something is super weird with this company. First, every time Brendan talked to me, he acted like the last 2 conversations never happened before. I must have given my address to him like 5 times; I had to keep repeating my last name while I was talking to him. I wonder if he was watching some random YouTube video while working. The move itself: Brendan promised me 3 guys but he sent 2 guys. Those bozos were terrible at driving the gigantic truck - they didn't send a box truck. They sent a tractor trailer to pick up my upright. It had snowed a few days before, and my husband went to the old house to shovel out a huge path on the lawn so they could just back up the truck all the way to the door. Well, they didn't even bother. They just parked it on the road. Worst part? Said truck did not have a lift gate. And they had a wobbly ramp to push the piano up at an almost 45 degree gradient. Lucky my husband was there to help them push. Otherwise I'm sure my poor piano would have crashed onto the ground or it just wouldn't have made it up there. I didn't know any of these until my hub told me afterwards. I saw them when they came to my house. We have a medium-length driveway up a hill. Normal, professional people would park on the side of the road and walk up a bit to see how to do the job the best way. Well, they were neither normal nor professional. They decided to just back up the driveway. Well my driveway is made of gravel and like I said, it snowed a few nights ago so it got muddy and icy a bit. Yes you guessed it -- it got stuck spectacularly. It was slipping and sliding, blocking the whole road, threatening to destroy my mailbox. I was watching up on my porch, and I kept covering my eyes and muttered omg omg... (my toddler was super concerned "Mommy what's wrong?" and kept patting me. LOL) Meanwhile the line on either side of my quiet little street was getting longer (we counted over 20 cars on each side when it was all over). My husband came the rescue again, since he used to drive a tractor trailer... he ran down to shovel out the ice, and told them to leave and turn around so they could drive right up. They finally drove up, but once again, completely failed to assess the best way to do the job, ripped up my entire yard and slipped and slide again when it could have totally been avoided but I will spare you the details. We offered to have them back right up and place the ramp on our porch to avoid the steep incline again. They did. When they opened one of the doors of the truck, I was like, oh good they have a huge stack of blankets! Then they opened the other door and I saw my piano. It was covered with a handkerchief. Okay I'm kidding. But it was covered with one meager little blanket. AND THEN THEY TOOK IT OFF before they even put my piano on the dolly! As they started to push, I had to say something, "Guys, I don't want to be telling you how to do your job but that veneer there can get scratched really easily...." The guy looked at me like are you kidding me? Then begrudgingly slapped the blanket back on, not even strapping it back down so it was just like randomly on top. Keep in mind this is a small blanket so 2/3 of the piano from the bottom doesn't even have this little protection. On its way down to my house, the unprotected parts of the piano touched two places in my house. I was literally telling them where to look at before they even knew it was happening. It was supposed to be an easy move. No floors. Just a few steps here and there. So once they got inside the house it was easy. Then as they were leaving, like many of the people here are saying, one of the dudes was standing there expecting a tip. I really reluctantly put $15 in his hands, and I didn't even want to pay. He looked pissed and I was like you're lucky I gave you anything! But my hub came and he asked me on the side what's going on because these guys were LINGERING in my house. Then he was like just give them more so they leave. So we gave them $50 in the end. wth So there you have it. These people totally sucked. Never ever use them!!! read more

Father and Son moving apparent will not move you if you have pets and live in a building without an elevator. The first crew had such an attitude upon hearing that i lived on the third floor and the home did not have an elevator. I was upfront with this when I booked the move. Additionally, the driver of the crew had a horrible attitude and spoke to me in a very threatening manner. He accused me of having multiple cars-I have one cat who was already at our new residence. He left my Apartment without doing a full walk through and called his supervisor, complaining that there was cat hair and feces all over the place-there wasn't. The entire crew then decided to leave. This is the last time i will ever use the company. They are lazy, ghetto hood types that refuse to do the job they are hired for. read more

We hired these guys to move from New Haven to NYC at the beginning of June. First, the good: the movers themselves were fast and efficient; nothing broken, everything delivered on time. They were extortionate about the tip, but more on that later. The company, however, grossly lowballed the estimate. We hired them two weeks out, invited them to come over and look at our belongings--the whole thing, but they claimed they were experts and knew exactly how much the charges would be. They underestimated the costs of the packing/move by $700, which was very inconvenient given that it was a Saturday and we'd already secured a cashier's check. Having to grab all of that cash meant there was far less left over to tip the moving guys, which pissed them off. Complaint to the management went nowhere; they specifically stated that this type of thing happens all of the time. Their underbidding probably robs jobs from honest, ethical movers. read more

Our first experience with this company was a good one, for our in town relocation. This time my boyfriend and I moved from our apartment to a house about 25 minutes away. We used the company again, but the experience this time was so awful, I'd never use them again or recommend them to anyone. They showed up in what they called a "mini" truck. Noticeably smaller than the truck a year back. Like other reviewers mentioned, we indicated prior the amount of things needing moving. Needless to say, a lot of our shit didn't fit and we moved THREE tvs, several heavy framed pieces of art, countless boxes of kitchen glassware, and a lot of other stuff which is the whole reason people hire movers. Everything they said was "delicate" and didn't fit/shouldn't be forced onto the truck we had to move ourselves. Our movers were okay, the total move took 4.5 hrs. After tipping each one, we paid $900 total. It's not their fault their company wouldn't provide them with a big enough truck. We spoke to the owner Sal when we called to complain and got absolutely nowhere. He insisted the truck was big enough to accommodate 4 rooms, which it pretty obviously was not. Even the movers said they just get whatever truck is available, not what's appropriate for the job. This company is a joke, stay far away!! read more

Although the moved seemed to go smoothly, I am less then pleased with the treatment of the handling an item that was broken in the move. I was told the glass would be replaced within the frame. No one ever called me back. When I called regarding the issue, I was told they were looking into it and that they would call me back. No calls. I finally received an email with a claim form. I sent it back and have been calling for weeks now, and am constantly given the run around and told that i would be called back and no one ever returns my calls. Update- Heard back from the company and feel better about the situation- Although not happy with the claim amount, the return call went pleasantly. Would consider using them again - however- I would be more diligent on keeping backup of any broken items. read more

This company is absolutely the worst moving company. The movers loaded things onto the truck so slow. Once everything was loaded onto the truck, they disappeared for an hour with no explanation. We called and called and sal the owner couldn't get a hold of the movers. They finally arrived and began to unload the truck at an even slower pace. To make matters worse, two of our expensive dressers had dents and the finish was removed. One of the movers recommended going to Walmart to get it repaired which is just a joke. I have used Father&Son moving twice now -- once for my personal in-town relocation, and again today for my business move (from the 2nd floor of an office building to the 1st floor). They arrived early in their window (we were told to expect them between 9 and 10, and they arrived around 9:10). They were courteous, friendly, and professional, and made sure the job was done before they left. If you have an interest in being told one price and then when your items show up at the final destination expect a 40% increase from the first estimate. It gets better....I had a scheduled move for Friday morning August 3rd 2015 and planned accordingly. The house was packed the utilities were being shut off and everything involved with a move was in motion. I received a phone call from Father & son moving and storage that morning on the day of my move to inform me that for some reason that day now did not work for them and we would have to reschedule. (seriously) After spending the weekend in a hotel as all of our stuff was packed up finally our move was on its way. On the arrival my assistant was there to meet the movers and was told if he wanted our stuff unloaded he would first have to sign that there was no damage to any of the furniture. when he asked how he could possibly sign that there was no damage without seeing he was threatened with them leaving and not giving us our stuff. after they unloaded it and I finally saw it the next day I realized why they insisted on a signature in advance because they had destroyed half of the furniture from improper loading and packing. It would have been cheaper for me to have taken my furniture out back in Ct and set in on fire rather to have been ripped off for $2,800 to bring it to florida when I was quoted $1600 and then had to replace it because it was destroyed. If this sounds like a fun experience to you then feel free to hire these scam artists who literally go thru all of your possessions and if they like something it won't show up on the other end. oh almost forgot I hired a private investigator to track down their insurance company as they have multiple LLC's and shell corps's that they hide behind and their insurance company shared with me that they did not agree to my claim so I was refused for all of my broken furniture. THIS MOVING COMPANY IS THE BIGGEST SCUM BAG LYING THIEVING BUNCH OF THIEVES I HAVE EVER MET. STAY AWAY. Update: So after I left my review the (New) owner left a response and we ended up having a conversation. As it turns out he is the nicest stupid guy I ever spoke to. First he is a rather nice guy and we had a very pleasant conversation. Secondly all of the guys who worked there when my possessions got destroyed including the former owner STILL work there. The same guys who told me to send in a claim and then when it didn't arrive told me to send in a 2nd claim and when that didn't arrive I sent it certified mail. The same dishonest immoral lying cheating bunch of guys still works there but now there is a new owner. For all I know I could have been speaking to the janitor but he was rather nice. The bottom line is that the MAJORITY of the employees that work at this business will rip you off lie to you and go thru your stuff so don't expect anything of value to actually make it there. I'm bummed to see other bad reviews on this company; my experience was the complete opposite...5-star, start to finish, and that is something I've never given movers in 30+ years of cross-country moves. From the phone call that was answered by super-helpful Craig on a Saturday, to the easy online inventory app, to the scheduler and post-move survey call, the customer service was top notch. I had a few unusual requests they noted and honored, like using my own custom built crates for piano and artwork. My crew arrived on time, and they were friendly and courteous, explaining their plan and communicating thoroughly along the way. Shout out to Ervin, Louis and Jovan, who were pure moving geniuses! They worked quickly but carefully to load my PODS container to the brim with zero wasted space. They were conscientious about covering furniture and careful with boxes. I'm confident the majority of my belongings will survive the brutal transit of the PODS world with as little adverse impact as possible.My pre-move estimate was accurate, no hidden surprises, and my total as expected. (To the guy whose review complained about the written disclosure of their tipping policy...some people don't move very often and don't know the etiquette...I didn't find it offensive at all, and tipped my guys for a job well done.) I've used this company about ten times, through personal, business and storage moves. I have had a wonderful experience each time. They've always showed up on time or a few minutes early. The guys always work well together in teams, though I am not sure if they are contractors, employees, etc. (There is only one mover that I have seen more than once.) The teams are coordinated and fast. The only time they visibly struggled was when they had to carry a huge Konica Minolta photocopier up a narrow flight of stairs in an historic house-turned-office. Here and there, furniture has been lightly scratched. That's part of the moving process, I believe. (At least in the low-end consumer-targeted market.) I sometimes asked them to be very careful with something, and those items were never harmed. I've never had even a lightbulb broken in my boxes, and no interior damage. Nothing has ever "disappeared", despite ample opportunity for theft. I hope I never have to move again, but when it inevitably happens, I'll call this company. (There is some weird connection to Moving America, so I'm not exactly sure which is the main company in dealing with. I don't think it's shady though. I just never asked them to clarify.) The first time I used them, around 2007, they had the lowest quote of quite a few local companies. I have no idea if their prices are still the best. To close, even with the best prices, it's really expensive to use movers. I hate having to add another $150-$200 on in cash for tips. One time they moved me when I was in the middle of chemotherapy and had lost my house to foreclosure because cancer caused me to lose my job. In short, I was in a very bad place, financially, physically and mentally. I hated being pushed for cash when I could hardly afford to feed myself and the absolute last dollar in my bank accounts went to moving expenses. But I presume it's standard practice, and they need their tips regardless of who I am. If it turns out the tip-begging is only done by employees of this company, then I'll revise my review to one star. But since I think everyone does it, my review remains five stars as everything else has been great. read more

New England Van Lines of CT doing business as (DBA) Father and Son Moving hooks you with a lower rate (the actually price was almost 2x the quote, so what's the point of the quote?), but then gets you with the time. My 7 minute move (by car) cost more than my move from NYC to CT. I gave full detail on the items being moved and the moving situation (was moving from one elevator building to another within 7 mins drive and I was extremely organized with boxes, furniture wrapped, taped etc.) I secured parking directly in front of each building, secured a dedicated elevator and I was an active participant in the move. I was quoted a rate of $550 which include 3 hours of move, three men, 10% surcharge, 1.5hr transportation and truck, when it was all done the bill, without tip was $928. It took 3 hours to load the truck. Longer than I liked but I expected that loading would take the most time. Usually, unloading would take about an hour. I've moved enough to know. On the unload, I made the mistake of going to pick up lunch for me and then entire crew and the when the cable guy came and I had to tend to him... the unload took 2+ hours and I was helping, rushing them along that last hour!!!! (I was an active participant in the entire move, in/out of the truck myself) Ervin, the lead mover, knew exactly how to slow the job down e.g. not propping open doors, not filling each elevator ride, etc. The energy level got worse once we got to the destination, like they were suffering from low blood sugar. (TIP: You really need a couple of people to help you on the move to monitor the movers, one at the apt, and at least another the other at the elevator and maybe the truck to make sure everything is moving along appropriately. For this move, I thought I could do it all by myself, I could have really used some help monitoring the situation.) I also didn't see all the complaints about them on the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and Consumer Afters until after the move. Complaints range from poor service to stolen items, with one of the movers being arrested later. Go with a creditable mover, one that does a better job screening their employees. Their rates maybe a little more, but believe me you're going to be paying for it one way or the other. read more

Extremely disappointed with the service I received. First, I understand quotes are not exact, but when one is quoted $600, they don't expect the total bill will be closer to $900. Second, the wood legs of my sleeper sofa were damaged in the move. I admit, I did not request them to add the furniture pads to the sleeper sofa when they moved it. However, I was promised by the mover someone would come out to to repair the damage. I called the main office multiple times and the manager did not return my calls. Finally I reached the manager on the fifth call to the office. He said it was my fault for not requesting the mover use furniture pads and, for that reason, he was not going to send anyone out to repair the damage. He said it was in the contract. I asked for a copy of the contract weeks ago. He told me he would send it -- I have yet to receive it. Some customer service! Never again will I use this company. read more

WARNING!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! This is the worst moving company I have ever dealt with. I wouldn't of even given them one star but I had no choice in order to post this warning.I was promised so many things when they came and gave me a quote however moving day was a nightmare. I filed a claim with them for their insurance company About two months ago and I have not heard from them or my insurance company. If they were at all reputable they would've at the very least taken care of getting my grandmothers table fixed and additionally compensating me for all of the grief I went through. Instead I haven't heard a word from them and they're not answering my calls. I'm now forced to take them to court. Below is an example of my experiences: 1. The person in charge of my move left and didn't come back to supervise. As a result things were not packed correctly. 2. I asked them to create my grandmothers table But I was told not to worry about it it would be fine. But, when I got into my new apartment all of the trim was broken off the bottom. They knew this happened because they enclosed the Broken trim in with the table yet no one had the decency to let me know about this. 3. I have boxes full of broken items including some that had sentimental value to me. Aside from my grandmothers table, I had multiple boxes of broken dishes, the base of two lamps were broken, amongst many other things. 3. Missing items Aside from the broken items I was missing many other items. I had a professional handtruck and hedge trimmer's and a ladder and several other items that were missing. 4. Admittedly I was sent the "B team" and several of them were fired after my move. The move itself was a horrible experience and it only got worse when the things were delivered to my new home. I was very concerned about what the movers were doing when they were packing my items and reached out to try to get the supervisor to come back but that never happened. 5. Worst of all aside from my missing items I received a box full of someone's personal information including tax returns with all of the personal information available!!! I haven't returned the box from them because I'm holding onto it until I get compensation Although I am going to try to reach out to the people and let them know that I have a box filled with the tax returns. 6. Finally Ted insult to injury my boxes are labeled with my name and a skull and crossbones drawn next to it. Very professional. You would think after all of this they would do something to compensate me but instead they're not answering my calls. read more

Where to even begin? To begin with I called the company 2 days before the scheduled move and was given a two hour window between 9-11 AM. I did this so that I could arrange to have help at the new house when the furniture arrived. The dispatcher called me the day before the move and changed the window to 11-1. No, problem, I called my help and told them the new time. Moving day finally arrives. I put another load in my truck while I wait for the movers, and I wait, and I wait. About 2:30 I call the dispatcher who assures me that they will be there within 30 minutes. I wait, 30 minutes pass and I run to the store for a 6 pack. I get back from the store and I wait some more until about 3:30 and I call the dispatcher again. About 10 minutes later I see the truck turn onto my street, finally let's get this show on the road. I took one of the two workers through the house after reviewing the tipping policy and pointed out the items that I needed them to take, pretty much just the furniture, maybe a half dozen boxes. Evidently, I showed the wrong guy, because I had to show the other guy as well. I then left them to it so I could work on some other stuff, I used to be an exterminator and used to hate when a homeowner would be up my ass while I tried to work, so generally I don't do it to workers at my house. Finally they are ready to leave for the new house a little after 6. I did a last minute walk through which was a good thing, my bedframe was still in the master bedroom. Evidently they didn't bring any tools with them. I found an allen key and helped them take it apart. That they were going to leave it was one thing, but that they were not going to tell me was totally something else. Bed loaded, they took off and I left behind them. I know that it wasn't a race but I beat them to the new house by more than a half hour, it's only a 40 minute drive. At the new place I attempted to guide them to where the furniture was to be placed. That was a lesson in frustration and the majority of the furniture was left close to where I needed it or at least on the right floor of the house, the rest is still in my garage. It was almost 9:30 when they presented me a bill for 150% of the estimate that I'd been given. It's a good thing that they have that tipping policy that forbids them to ask, I would have hated to laugh in their faces. The day after this ordeal I actually felt bad for not tipping the guys, after all it wasn't their fault that the company didn't know how to keep a schedule and had not provided them with the tools they needed to get the job done. Then I went back to the old house to retrieve the rails for a second bedframe that I'd asked them to move. This one had been disassembled and was stacked together in the basement. They actually moved the rails to get to the head and foot boards, which they took. I also had to get the glass shelves for my wife's curio cabinet, they actually took the shelves out to move the cabinet. Evidently they didn't feel that they could safely move the glass shelves and had told my wife that they left them with me to move, if only they had told me. I'm over feeling bad about not tipping, they are just as incompetent as their employers. read more

Another excellent experience using Father & Son! Today my mom moved from her apartment in Meriden into her new place in Cheshire. The 3-man team of James, Ryan, and Torray were on time, prepared, followed COVID safety protocols excellently, and were fun to work with. They got the apartment emptied of furniture so much quicker than we thought possible, handling several antique pieces with great care. Getting the truck unloaded at the destination went smoothly and again with great humor and professionalism. When we sold our house recently and moved to a rental, I investigated several local movers and chose Father & Son. Huge mistake! A half hour before they were due to arrive on the chosen Saturday, I received a call that their driver had Covid and "they were trying to get a crew together..." The first question you have to ask is if they knew they were moving us that day, why didn't they have a crew together already? I was told she would keep me posted. When no update was received I called them at 11am and reached their answering service who said they would relay the message. By 2pm my husband called and got their dispatcher, who told us that they would not be coming that day, or the next day, which was a Sunday and that they "would probably be coming on Monday by 8:30m..." They finally arrived at 10am and we were nervous wrecks that they wouldn't show up again.....That particular Monday had been designated as the "walk-thru" day for the closing on our house, and we had anticipated having at least a day after the move to get the house ready for that. The walk-thru was pushed out to Tuesday, but we were all day moving out and into our rental. Tueday was a nightmare, emptying refrigerators, and moving out last-minute items into our carsbefore the buyers arrived. Several large pieces of furniture were scratched, a glass tabletop broken and a promised claim form was never sent to us. Their representative kept repeating that we should see if our homeowner's policy would cover moving damage and the final bill was almost $1,000 more than their estimate. read more

Since this promotes itself as a Father & Son business, as a Father of the woman whose car you damaged, just do the right thing and pay for the repairs ASAP. Stop playing games. Hit and run is not only poor business practice it's also illegal. read more

I thought the guys were pretty hard-working and were willing to move things around, etc. They did take a "lunch break" after they told me there were not going to which left me waiting at the new location for 45 minutes with no furniture. Fortunately, they did charge me for this time. Like others have said, the estimate was terrible. I was pretty specific about the fact that we were moving a small office from the 6th floor to the 5th floor of another building. Both had elevators, but the actual cost was 3x the bid. While I think they worked hard throughout, I would have appreciate a more realistic estimate. In addition, the original bid quotes me $175 an hour and I challenged it vs. other bids I received. They dropped it to $150 an hour. When I asked the moving guys what the "regular" rate typically is, they said $150 an hour. Gosh...I am a nonprofit!!! I don't think I was the right target to high ball and make me feel like it was a sacrifice to drop the price. read more

I rarely write a review; however, the service I received for my move in April 2021 was absolutely horrible. If there was a way to give zero stars, I would. I was provided an estimate of $4,100 to pack and move a 1,600 sq. ft. house approximately 2.5 miles. By the time the truck got to my new home the charges were up over $6,000. They refused to unload the truck until I handed over my credit card. I spoke numerous times to the office who assured me that they would "take care of everything". Only to find out later I had to deal with an office in Texas who didn't care. I wish I would have called the police when they threatened to keep my possessions until I paid more. The movers were not professional movers - they were no more than day laborers. They complained about having to take items upstairs. [Isn't that what movers do?] They had blatant disregard for my possessions, ruining a 2 year old stainless steel french-door refrigerator. The stainless was gouged and they broke the handle off the freezer door. There were two holes (yes, holes) in the wall and countless scrapes on newly painted walls. They walked out at 4 pm with boxes left all over the first floor and nothing in the correct room. My advice is simple: DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. read more
