His love of the sand, surf and signature buildings of this sunny port city is beautifully captured and impressed on each canvass that he paints. Best way to describe his work? This may sound over the top, but go back to when you were a teen and in love for the first time ever. Remember how the world looked? It almost sparkled. Everything was just a little bit brighter, a little more full... and zinging with excitement and possibility. That's what Tyrone's art is like. No kidding! The way he captures the color and essential joy of the bay, the buildings and the beaches will make you see San Diego with new eyes. Trust me - it's a great feeling. "Harbor at Dawn" is hanging in my living room and every time I look at it, it makes me happy. What's great is that he's an artist at Space 4 Art, which is where I discovered him. It took some doing to reach someone to confirm their location…read more I had originally gotten the wrong impression that they're inside the San Diego Museum of Art. I mistakenly got that wrong idea because there are mentions online stating "MoPS@SDMA" and because my phone calls to a phone number listed online (on the mopa site or yelp) as MoPA reached a recording saying "SDMA." I eventually Googlemap'd 1649 El Prado and saw a photo of Casa de Balboa, which set me straight that MOPA is inside the *Casa de Balboa* building. And the San Diego History Center I resorted to calling ended up confirming that was right. Parking was a bit confusing. I could have parked closer to the building if I had realized that the narrow road near the Reuben H Fleet after turning in from Park Blvd was in fact a two-way street I could have driven down. The art piece I went there in particular to see was The Tamarind Letter by artist Lenore Simon. It is in the Artists Guild show that will be on display until March 9, 2025. I feel that the piece helps educate/remind folks about the journey of women in the arts.

For example, reusable shopping bags from $4 to hand embroidered pillows ranging to many, many more dollars. Men might like to take home a t-shirt or embroidered golf shirt. You can also get home decor items like Christmas ornaments, coasters and art prints. What I really like about The Signature Shop is that I like souvenirs to take home to remind me of the places I've visited but I want them to be classy and functional and that is exactly what you get at The Signature Shop.

There were many verified original works along with good recreation pieces, which is required to experience his art in a gallery setting. I gave it 4 stars mainly because of the cost. Tickets were pretty expensive, and it felt like that money was going straight to private companies and collectors. On top of that, parking at the fairgrounds was $20, which felt excessive. It would have been nice to see some of that money support humanitarian causes, which feels more in line with Banksy's message. There's also this constant feeling that Banksy himself would probably hate all of it. It goes against what he stands for. At the same time, it does give more people a chance to experience his work, which I think is a positive. Not trying to take a moral stance, just something I couldn't shake while I was there.

The exhibition goes thru his 25 years of work and its quite moving that a lot of his art is a commentary to what is going on in the world. The guy has heart and cares about the world and people. I can totally jive with that. I spent a lot of my career devoted to humanitarian aid work and there are moments during this exhibition where I got teary eyed. Seems Banksy was always there making a commentary when something was going terribly wrong in the world. I love what he stands for, because, a lot of what he stands for is what I believe in. He speaks out when there is injustice and also makes fun of the ridiculousness of the world especially when capitalism and bad people rule the world. His art is timeless and now more than ever, seems even more relevant. I really enjoyed this exhibition. His art spoke to my inner social activist deeply. I laughed, smirked, sighed in relief, got angry, got sad, but mostly reflected while going thru this exhibition. Make art, make love, not war. Go see this show if whats going in the world is too heavy and you need an outlet. I promise you you will learn something very powerful after this show. Thanks Banksy for always being there when its truly important. And maybe this wasnt put on by the artist himself but it still stands for something meaningful. If you haven't been to the San Diego airport in a few years, they "recently" underwent a huge renovation, which shows not only in their terminals but also in the shops within the airport (including this one). This particular store has everything you can imagine: local products, toiletries, medicine, books and so much more. I frankly have a bit of an obsession with a good airport stores, and this one definitely hit all the marks for me. Plus it is located just across from the food court, making it a perfect spot to browse after grabbing something to eat. Last but not least, the staff was great and super helpful. But do keep in mind that a lot of their items were on the pricey side which is common for airport stores like this one.
