The place was well-designed, with manicures set up near the door, and a wall for privacy for people getting their hair done. The hair-washing bowls looked far more comfortable than the standard ones (being tall, I loathe scrunching down to fit in most of them), and there were private rooms to the back of the shop for spa treatments. Elena (I'm sorry if I got this wrong, I am terrible with names!) was a lot of fun to talk to, as well; it seems the art of conversation is something a lot of stylists have lost, but not her. She also gave me some good tips on how to manage my hair in future, things easily done at home. When I need a haircut or a style again, I am definitely going here.

I had gone to another cheaper nail salon and mentioned my ankle and they just ignored it entirely. The ladies at Chic are professional and accommodating. They take a lot of care to make sure you're comfortable and they do a great job. I haven't had hair services here, I mainly have gone for the Aveda Mani/Pedis, they are AMAZING (Lindsay & Meghan are awesome!), I've done the express mani/pedi as well, also great. I've had my brows waxed and a number of elemental facials, all fantastic experiences. The only thing I would say negatively, is that when you're in the back room for a facial, you can hear a lot going on in the salon, so it's not super 'peaceful', but it's still great! I would recommend this salon and spa (and have) to all my family and friends. (I do believe they accept walk-ins, but I always book in advance) - little tip - if you're interested in a Mani/Pedi go to the "Packages" tab on the website and book a "Basics" package, it's an extra couple bucks, but you get an eyebrow wax included. **Update** I have since had my hair styled here for my brothers wedding, they did a great job! I also had my makeup done, and it was done beautifully.

DermEffects - Skin scrapings on floor around examination table in Dr. Loo's examination room.

An unbelievably bad experience! Extremely unprofessional. One of the staff, T.T., is extremely…read moreknowledgeable, skilled, and personable. I was treated in this clinic for several years, often 5 or 6 times each year. On almost every visit the OHIP limit of three biopsies or scrapings was done. On the rare occasions where appointments were 6 mo. apart, the build up of damaged areas was so extreme, multiple and extreme treatments were necessary to deal with the damage. During these visits, I have experienced treatments where freezing injections from a multi-dose container were repeated with the same syringe, making me wonder about contamination from other patients. I have experienced preliminary examinations by nursing staff where my answers to probing questions were cut off and passed over such that the information passed on to the Doctor was incomplete, lacking, and wrong. I have had sessions where the biopsies were to be followed by liquid nitrogen treatments to specific areas and after the biopsies, I was dismissed and sent on my way. On one of my last visits, the examination table in the room was covered with masses of skin that had been scrapped off a previous patient. Similarly, the floor surrounding the examination table was covered with similar scrappings. (Photos attached). Two different nurses asked me to get onto the examination table for three biopsies to be performed. When I explained that I at least wanted the examination table wiped down before those procedures, the biopsies were done on a chair in the same room. No sense of importance to having a sterile environment. After my last appointment, I was given an appointment for a future date, as my condition dictated further treatment was necessary. Before that appointment occurred, I received a call from Dr. Loo giving me the results of the biopsy and 5 minutes later a second call from the receptionist informing me that I was discharged from the clinic and my future appointment was cancelled. A surprising action since there was no appointment where the areas being treated had been identified as being clear. In fact discussions had occurred suggesting when the spring weather arrived, I would be scheduled for a PDT therapy session. I am amazed the Department of Health has not had concerns about this operation. I am guessing that since my condition just required treatment and not the purchase of expensive cosmetic treatments, they were not interested in having me as a patient.

I really wanted to love Skintreet. This review is based off of an experience with a single…read moreesthetician and doesn't necessarily reflect the entire salon. As a specialist in Brazillian waxing, I expected a high level of professionalism and cleanliness. My biggest concern was with the fact that the wax was not sanitary. I studied at an esthetics school in Montreal and the first rule of waxing was NEVER double dip your spatula, etc. Unless policy at Skintreet is to use a fresh pot of wax for each client (which I doubt) the esthetician was not following this golden rule. The method was: bare hands, into wax pot, onto skin, wax area, hands back in wax pot. In comparison, I have never been to a SINGLE salon or spa that does this. The estheticians wear gloves or at least ALWAYS use fresh spatulas EACH time they access the wax. I've had several Brazillians since, and all were less painful - which is less of a concern to me than the cleanliness issue. The price ended up being around $70. I hate leaving bad reviews, but this was just plain dangerous. It's possible this esthetician is no longer with the salon, but it was enough to make me not consider going back. I *doubt* such a high end salon doesn't follow sanitation policy, and it was likely just a rogue case, but it'd be worth asking about if you make an appointment.

Facial was supposed to be an hour and fifteen and included a massage of arms and feet, etc.. I Went to the spa, it was nice and the staff was kind. I got taken into a very small room and things went downhill from there. Spa technician was in and out of the room the entire time, not allowing me to relax in the least. Not sure why she would not have the product ready in the room. This is all done by appointment after all . Of the 45 minutes that I was there, she maybe touched my skin for 10 of those 45 and of that 10, she spent half that hurting me by removing the blackheads...I get that that is a necessary part of the process, however, that was what most of the time was. Also the room was cold and all I was wearing was a towel..yikes. So she wraps up and I head to the front to meet up with my friend, completely disappointed, as was my friend. It was nothing like the Groupon described. They gave us a basic facial and were going to charge us the Groupon price of $99 each for that nonsense. Important to note that a basic facial here is $79 which is NOT worth it. I have had way better facials for $40 elsewhere. In the end, they charged us $79 each. So we did not get the treatment we went for, we paid for a service we did not want, we were uncomfortable the whole time and left feeling cheated.

I just love it there. Give it a try, you will not regret it. Mary
