I'll preface my review by saying that good customer service is as important to me as getting a job done right. I had a post lamp in my front yard that had stopped working and found F C Electric here on yelp. My first red flag was when I called to schedule a service appointment, I was told they would have to check the schedule and see when they could fit me in, and that this couldn't be done while I waited on hold. I was called a couple days later saying they could fit me in, and could I please send them a picture of the light that wasn't working (without explaining why they needed a picture--I still don't know why they requested a picture). Asking for a picture did not inspire confidence. At the time of service, I received a phone call that they were on their way about 5 minutes before they showed up, which I appreciated the heads up. The truck was clearly marked as F C Electric, but the employees did not wear anything that identified them as such. There were two guys that seemed like they had some kind of joke going between them from the time I answered the door. Their behavior was immature and unprofessional. They diagnosed my problem and made a recommendation which I later implemented myself. They were at my house for less than 5 minutes. About a week after their visit, I received a text asking if my request had been handled, which I confirmed. Today I received an invoice for $127, which I thought was pretty steep for such a quick visit, including unprofessional demeanor. I asked one of the employees before he left how much the charge was, but he didn't know. I acknowledge I should have asked when I scheduled the appointment what their diagnosis fee was. I called Paul, the owner, to chat about the invoice and to share feedback about my experience. When I complained about the price and the unprofessional behavior of his staff, he became somewhat defensive instead of carefully listening to what I had to say. As a customer, it's never good to feel like the employees are valued over customers. I'm pretty sure the way most businesses work is that you have to have happy paying customers to succeed. To be fair, Paul did offer to delete the invoice, but I insisted to pay something and he said I could pay whatever I felt was right. I paid the full amount because it was mostly my fault for not asking how much the service visit would cost. The bottom line is that I will not go to F C Electric again when I have electrical needs and cannot recommend them. read more

F C Electric moved our ancient electric service from a pole in the yard to the front of our house. This was a large project that needed coordination with Tipmont with inspection from the county upon completion. F C Electric did an excellent job from start to finish. Communication was smooth and the end price was more than fair. It was a job we had dreaded and put off for almost a decade and we are so glad to have it done. By far there work is better then all other electrical companies I've worked with in Lafayette. There employees are great and know what there doing. There prices are the best. There service is impeccable and they have a storm chases van. Super rad. read more

It's so nice when you find an electrician you can really trust. FC Electric has been out to my house multiple times, three of which were to research and fix problems with its very strange wiring. Everyone who has been out has been polite, courteous, and knowledgeable - they've always gotten the work done right the first time, and quickly too. They are the only electricians I call. read more

Back in 2007, I hired FC to do some extensive electrical work and was EXTREMELY unhappy with their service. However, time and new ownership has healed that particular wound. In 2014, I received an email from their new owner, asking me what they could do to fix the issues that had led to my then-scathing review on Yelp. I informed him I was willing to change it, but that I was just being honest. I let him know that I'd already paid another electrician several hundred dollars to fix the old FC's unfinished work, and that I'd need some quid pro quo to make me rethink my assessment. He immediately agreed, and we came up with some work that they could do for free, to make up for my previous experience. In February 2015, FC did significant electrical work on my home, installing and upgrading various electrical boxes and outlets in preparation for the sale of that home. The work was top notch, and I'm happy to say that they're again on my "nice list." Anyone can make a mistake; it's how you fix the mistake that counts. In that regard, it's obvious that FC's new ownership understands not only electrical work, but the ever-important art of customer service. read more

We had FC Electric do an electrical inspection on a home we are buying in West Lafayette. They were wonderful to deal with: thorough, honest, and very professional. Luckily the electrical inspection showed everything was ok but we will definitely be using them for future projects! read more

I can't not say enough about Paul and his team at FC Electric. Not only did his bid come in at a fair price BUT he went above and beyond for us. Our lights inside our 1960s home flickered when a high powered item was running (dryer, furnace, coffee maker). We had four electricians come out and say that we need to take our service from underground and go overhead to solve the problem (costing us anywhere from $1500-$14,000... yes one electricians bid was that much). Paul came in and suggested we have Duke come out (for free) and service the lines to see if that is where the issue is because it would be a shame to have to run overhead lines. Paul said he would deal with Duke and scheduling them to come out, which took stress off our plates. I am so thankful that we went with his idea because he was right. Duke came out and fixed our line, which solved the flickering problem and Paul and his team replaced our panel. Each member of his team was polite and always said hello. They were respectful of our property and the communication was top notch. If you want an honest electrical company and one that does things right (not just taking the easy way) then FC Electric is your company. We can't recommend them enough! read more

The worst part is what they did to the old owners of our house. When we were looking at the final details of our soon-to-be house, the old owners provided us with invoices of all the recent work they had done. There was an invoice from FC Electric in 2012 for having "all knob and tube wiring replaced in the attic with modern electric" yet when our inspector went up in the attic IT WAS STILL THERE. They had replaced the knob and tube in places where it was easily visible but not elsewhere, as their contract stated they would do. Knob and tube in the attic was covered by spray insulation, a huge fire hazard. The old owners contacted FC and made them come back out to complete their contract from two years ago, free of charge. This made me immediately suspicious of their competence and being trustworthy in their work. My wife and I had decided we wanted to rest of the knob and tube in the house replaced as well, and would split the cost with the old owners before the sale. We had FC in to give a quote. They quoted an extremely high price saying something to the effect of "it was nearly impossible" and that they would have to drill holes in the beautiful ceiling of our dining room as well as the plaster walls (difficult to repair nicely). We didn't want that to happen so we contacted another electric company. They quoted a much more reasonable price and said they could go in through the floorboards in the second floor and would not have to drill the ceiling or plaster walls. We hired them and they did a great job, with minimal cuts in our old hardwood floors, repaired nicely. Then we discovered an issue with the outlet on the back of our house, outside. It was not supplying electricity. This was an outlet that during the inspection was found to be reversed, and the owners were going to have FC fix it during the removal of the knob and tube, while they were in the house. So when we moved in, we tested the outlet and instead of being reversed, it had NO power at all. So we called FC and the owner claimed to have not been told to do anything to that outlet, that they had not touched it. We told him that it had gone from being reversed to having no power, so they must have messed with it. The company owner stated that he was not there when the work was done and could not speak to the fact that his guys had worked on it, but he would come look at it. When he came over (three days after he originally said he would come over, showing up randomly when we were not expecting him) he again claimed they were not responsible for the outlet but said they would fix it for a charge. He also wandered through the house, visibly upset that we had gone with another company to fix the knob and tube. He made accusations of poor work, slandering the other company and even claiming they had not removed the knob and tube completely. I called this other company to confirm that yes, the work had been done, and he proved that it had. FC had made false accusations. We contacted the old owners of our house about the outside outlet again. The woman who lived there stated that she had been in the back living room while one of FC's guys had been working on the outlet. YES, they had touched the outlet, and were clearly to blame for the lack of power to it. The old owners, also upset, emailed FC even though they no longer owned the house - they have been very helpful and nice. Again, they had been screwed by these guys. So I called FC again, asking them to come fix it for no charge. Again, the owner was upset, scolding me for him "getting many emails and calls about this and it is turning into a big mess." Yes it is a big mess, I said, but as soon as you come and rectify the problem we will stop bugging you. He said he had my info on file and would contact me when he got back to the office later that day. He never did, and a week later still has not contacted me to fix the outlet. We will forever go through the OTHER company. FC has lost a lifetime of work from us. read more

These guys are great. We called them on a Saturday and even though they weren't open, we were still able to talk with the owner. He was able to send someone by the following Monday. They were very easy to contact and did a very speedy fix. They were priced very fairly, too. I will certainly call them again! read more

Paul, Art, and Mike really came through for us. My wife and I had storm damage that pulled the meter off of our home, as well as other storm damage. They got us a generator quickly, which allowed us to remain in our home comfortably, while repairs were being made. They worked with the city and the local power company to get us back up and running again. They returned through out the weekend to fuel up the generator. The whole experience was great and the entire staff was helpful with the process. We would recommend Fc Electric an will use them again. read more

Paul went far and beyond to help my 100 year old father. My Dad is a World War II Navy veteran and flys his American flag daily. But the rope and hardware wore out and broke on his 30 ft flag pole. Paul came 40 miles with his bucket truck to fix Dad's flagpole and then refused to be compensated for his time. Just an example of the wonderful character of Paul and this company! read more

I have used FC Electric on at least two different occasions to wire things in my house. Both times they were prompt in getting the work done, did it well and didn't overcharge me. The second job was done in really hot conditions. We discussed doing other work and I appreciated Paul not trying to scare me into doing more wiring than is really necessary. read more

We used FC electric to rewire our home. Paul and his crew were great. We did call a lot of the references they had just because we were spending $ 7500. We have no complaints at all. We would use them again, and recommend them to anyone. We have done a lot of projects with lots of contractors, this was the least painfull project we have ever done. read more

Paul @ FC Electric is fantastic! Great rates, excellent service. We have used them on a couple projects and have yet to be disappointed. Both projects were lighting related. They helped us research replacement options for our entrance lights in our subdivision and installed a light feature in one of our park areas. Highly recommend! read more
