Haunted house was definitely one of the best I've been to in Portland! Our group had a great time. It was my 13 yo daughter's first haunted house and she had a blast! There were lots of jump scares between the live actors and the props! You can tell a lot of work was put into creating a very creepy and eerie experience and it was very well done and thought out. FYI, plan accordingly and bring rain jackets and umbrellas if you go, as a majority of the lines are not covered. Their website states all areas are covered which is inaccurate and we got completely soaked. Marked down 1 star for uncovered waiting areas. read more

We really enjoyed FearPDX! We took our 12 year old son for his first experience & we had the best time. The actors lurking around are great & add a lot of fun to the wait in line (which is very manageable since they cleverly space out tickets into 30 min time slots). The actual haunted houses are spectacular..stories are well thought out & the props & structures are really well done. Everyone we interacted with was super friendly & the vibe of the entire place was fantastic. My only critique is I'd love to see them put out better merchandise. We wanted to buy a souvenir but nothing was notable to take home. ps The food & drink prices are very reasonable which is a nice plus. read more

For the original price, it was a great experience. I was not thrilled to see a $5 processing fee for each ticket purchased, even though they were all put on a single payment. I know other places have had a processing fee, but only one fee for the entire purchase, not for every ticket. The actors performed well and staff was friendly. My cousins and I came to Fear PDX last night (Sat 09/26/20 @ 8:00-8:30pm) while I'm visiting from California. I didn't get the name of character that was dressed up as a drag queen/long blonde haired woman but she was AMAZING entertainment the entire time we waited in line! She had us laughing and made the wait seem so much shorter than it was. Please pass our kudos onto them and let them know they made our night during the wait!! The entire house was great, I do this kind of stuff every year back in CA and this is definitely in my top 3 experiences. The Nightmares black out maze was a hysterical hot mess and was so much fun. I forgot to get our picture at the end so I'm super bummed about that but otherwise, everything was great. My cousins don't usually do this stuff and they had an absolute blast so that's saying something, too! Edit: I like these better during the pandemic. We had no one ahead of or behind us so we got the full effects of getting the shit scared of us without expecting it. Fantastic. read more

I am disappointed. *please read full review* Dont get me wrong. I loved the actual haunted house. However, my experience to PHYSICALLY enter the building was HORRIBLE. I went with my family, 4 of us total. The tickets have to be purchased in a time slotted manner... yet getting there we were asked to get into a "line" (no clear sinage, mind you), so that prompted additional questions from us to the staff since there wasn't really a defined line... more of a wonky cluster of people which hardly resembled a line... on how the line worked... Insert Mary. Mary was loud, rude, and condescending. Mary was the one who "answered" my question about the line. Aggressively. (We were all perfectly friendly so i am not sure why). So... we get aggressively spoken to as if we are all inept... and get in the line. Now, each indicator is 8'+ away from one another. Most indicators are about 10' apart.... we had a gal working there (dont know this ones name) get upset because one person in my group was about one step off of our designated line... this gal got loud and rude about maintaining a distance, we educated her we were more than 6' away from the group ahead of us and she threatened to have us escorted out by security because we were not all on or directly behind our line... again, one of us was approximately a SINGLE STEP outside of our line.... (What the heck? Dude... why?) So, security guy looks at us as she walks over to him, he looks at her, and we are left alone. Fast forward to the second section of the line closer to the haunted house.... i have one person in my group whos mask kept going just at the tip of her nose, sometimes just hardly "under" her nose... (glasses and cloth mask... happens...).. so, Mary who i brought up earlier, makes a comment (snarky, but whatever) about it. Okay, fixed. We move forward... now the spaces are marked LITERALLY 10PLUS feet apart from one another... so, when it slips down a bit we dont see it as such a big deal cause we are not only out in the open but waaaayyy socially distanced and also... its just the tip of her nose... Mary didnt like that. She kept glaring over and at one point walks all the way through us in line all the way to directly in front of us (we were about mid way through the line so there is zero way this was not intentional) she turns around and says to the person in my group to pull up her mask. (Does not say a word to the numerous people along her way to us who have thier masks OFF or all the way on their chin... no, she is b-lining for this person in my group)... so, Mary was advised that the mask was being worn and that we were more than 6' apart... Mary replied with threats to have us escorted out if the mask was not above her nose entirely... My group member asked for her name and she flat out refused to give it to her... My group member told Mary "this is a free country" and Mary said "haha no. Its not" (Excuse me?) And stomped away bavk to the start of the line where she works... So, again, the mask was pulled back up. We were just chatting amungst ourselves and waiting in line and Mary comes BACK THROUGH THE LINE TO US... with the security guard... then i hear Mary say "oh, she must have seen me coming cause look, its back in her face now"... Security guy looks at us, was very polite, and just says masks need to be worn, we know. We thank him. My group member asks the security guard, in front of Mary, for her name (we did not yet have it) ... the guard looks at Mary and Mary got mmmaaadddd and again refused to provide her name. Fast forward to allmmoosssttt the front if the line, we were chit chatting w a different worker there and they did provide us Mary's name and also shared their disliking of Mary's attitude. (Interesting). All in all, i am very dissapointed that Mary works there. All other staff were great. I am dissapointed because i truly feel that my group member was singled out, not for the situations i listed... because so many others did the same or worse and were not spoken to, but because she had a black face mask w a thin blue line flag. If you do not know, this flag symbol represents respect and appreciation for our police officers. And if that is truly the reason, then that is disgusting. If this fear pdx attraction promotes discrimination of our back the blue family i will never patronize them again and i will ensure that i spread the word. There is literally zero other reasons that stand out to me as the cause of Mary's obsessive aggression towards my one specific group member and obsessive stalking of her either. The rest of us, and all those near us had plain colored masks on. read more

It seemed a bit small, but on the website they made it seem as though that the ticket that we bought, Had so many attractions and "scare zones" attached to it. and on the website for this year saying the most attractions we've had yet because they were celebrating some type of anniversary or something we got there and we stood in line to get into the main building that lets you into the SHORT four main houses. We went through came out and that was it.... on the website The ticket originally said it was 24.99 ended up paying almost $40 for them because of taxes an fees and other things, and there was about six people. The attraction basically lasts for 30 minutes and then you get to walk around in a circle. and get followed and scared by people in costumes you don't get to go into the special houses unless the front door attendant is high and says to your group "go ahead i just been letting people in" but the fact that it's not included in the tickets we bought already is beyond me. there are better scare attractions, look for them. read more

Overall this was a fun experience! However it was very short, I feel like for the price it should have been a bit longer. It probably didn't take us longer than 15 minutes to walk through the entire thing. The actors were really good and I was genuinely terrified a couple of times (I don't get scared easily). I recommend buying tickets online and in advance! I bought mine the day of and only the 10pm time was still available. When I arrived at 9:55 I had to wait in the 2 lines for about an 45 minutes on a Thursday night. The earlier you can get there the better I'm sure! The staff seemed pretty strict about enforcing masks and social distancing once you are on the premises. 4 stars because of how short it was for price. read more

My boyfriend and I just finished at Fear PDX. We had an incredible time and are thankful it was open. Loved the spacing and they are taking the pandemic seriously. The attraction itself was amazing! The themes, actors and animatronics were fun and scary! This is a high quality fun house and I go to a lot. The staff were all so friendly as well and the costumes were great! All I had to say is WOW! Completely exceeded my expectations. I consider myself a haunted house/maze professional and this was one of the scariest ones I've done. We came on opening night for 2018 and it was so much fun. The actors stayed in character the entire time, the pop outs were nicely timed, and the transitions between sets were intense (you'll know what I mean when you go). It's possible it was so scary because we were the only ones at the time. I'm sure the busier it gets, the more people there will be, and the less scary it will feel. But overall, we had a great time! read more

SO MUCH FUN I was visiting the Portland area from SD and when I saw that the haunted house was open I had to get tickets. The line was socially distanced and the staff went around to ensure that guests maintained space and had masks. The drag queen line attendant was the best! We got to make friends with her and even saw her later in the haunted house and yes she got me! My boyfriend and I did both attractions and it was well with it. All of the scare actors were getting us left and right! A must go while in PDX! read more

My expectations for this were not high because I've been to Halloween Horror Nights in Florida and that is supposed to be top of the line! However, I was pleasantly surprised by each of the houses! Everything was well thought out and unique! Each of the characters in the houses interacted with you, and some, in a way that was more than just a "BOO!" to get you to jump. I really enjoyed it. With that being said, the reason why these houses were so effective in scaring me personally was because I am claustrophobic. They had several things throughout the houses that played on fears of claustrophobia. I thought it was great because I've never actually felt scared inside a haunted house before so this was a first. We got a ticket to the last house (can't remember the name) but it was a new addition to the event. I tried to go in twice but ended up having to leave. (Again because of claustrophobia). But, this is not a complaint! I am super happy that they did something so well that I couldn't even make it through! This last house was not your typical scare house by the way. It was something completely different but I won't reveal what. read more

I read the bad reviews and still took my almost 14 yr old through. He was VERY excited. Freaky clowns running around the parking lot and line revving chainsaws and wielding axes. Strobe lights, smoke, loud noises, mostly startle scare effects, lots of fake bloody gore. The pluses: my kid thought this was awesome. He had a great time, definitely was scared and startled often, and I haven't laughed so hard in forever. His reactions were hilarious. Was it worth the $30 ($60)? Ehhh, one time, yes. The line was horrible, and it's hidden, so you don't think it'll be bad when you're buying your ticket(s). We stood there for easily an hour. Yuck. That's the worst part. Pricing is high, but this is Portland!! So many staff members, expensive effects, security, and the venue costs. Weighing all that, the fee is understandable. Was it super scary? Depends on your definition of that. I don't get scared; never really have in haunted houses. But I know it's fiction and what to expect, for the most part. My kid loved it. I don't let him watch shows like TWD and such, so he's not desensitized. It was a fun night out. And, my teen let me hold his hand all the way through, so...awesome. :D read more

Obviously alot of work went into this endeavor. Lots of space and potential, but...where are the actors?? It's Halloween weekend and there are *crickets* in maybe 70% of the production. It was that bad. I understand the build, the suspense, etc. I get it. But, I also get that a lack of actors and a lack of actors with clear lines and roles means that the fish is rotten from the head down. Pay and treat your workers better and they'll show up for you when you need them most. Maybe not all of them like fried carnival food? Hire real actors to help with production. Get theatre students from the high schools. They know how to employ psychological tricks to make things creepy, not just gory. Join forces with another haunted house. Branch out. This has great potential but you've got some real work to do. I gave it a 3/5 for effort w props, makeup and decoration with the HUGE space they have to work with. 2/5 for thoughtful content and real scares. read more

I figured out that e tickets have a different line but it's all squashed together. May have ended up in vip line? Anyway. Once past box office it's cooler. DJ and stuff. Once inside it's a pretty good haunted attraction. Not great. But fine. Was in line for hours, even though we had VIP just to go through a haunted house which was primarily made up of props rather than actors. I am a sissy and didn't get scared once. Ok, I love a good haunted house and really miss the ones from my younger years like 13th Door, etc. We bought tickets for the earliest time slot of 7:00 p.m. and arrived a little early to avoid the line. I'm very glad we did, we were the second ones to go through. It's advertised as three haunted houses, but it's really just one continuous with different themes. Don't blink or walk too fast because it's over before you know it. I think it took us about 13 minutes to walk through. The actors were pretty good, some of the props didn't go off like they were supposed to but all in all the visuals were entertaining. The ending is a little lame because it's too bright, you'll see what I mean if you go. We also purchased the additional dark house tickets, do not waste your money on that. You just go around in the dark with no scares the whole time. All in all, if you've got money to burn go enjoy this haunted house! read more

This company year after year lets me down in the way that it's managed. I got an email saying that tickets would be discounted 8$ at checkout if purchased by 9/25. When I go there to do that, no discount. Their website says the 8$ discount expired on 9/18. It's marketing blunders like this that has kept me from going in quite some time. I did see Bella Organic's haunted corn maize is open for 2020 so I will be going there as I've never had an issue with them. I highly recommend you do the same! read more

The experience was good, but the customer service sucks!!! There was a KAREN employee who threaten to kick my whole group out because she said that the lady at the front entrance right before the photo booth asked me to put my mask on three times. When it was only once, I was checking myself before we take the picture. My problem is she was LYING on ME. I had my phone in my pocket recording on voice memo since we first walk in because I know you cant have your phone device out at all. Also there was a white couple right behind me that were making out the whole time thru out the line all the way til they were about to take their picture. Why didn't the Karen employee ask them to put their masks on? I think she was the supervisor or something. All I know is, due to her actions and words I felt like I was racially profiled. The fear pdx has some of the best scenery and electronics as far as a haunted attraction goes in the Portland metro area. you can tell that there is a lot of time and care put into the haunt. A lot of the scares in the haunt are sensory driven from small spaces to light effects to air blowing at you. They tend to keep the haunts close to the same each year with the same themes which though gets a little old it is really cool to see the changes and improvements that they make. I really like the doll factory and the mansion. The Elevator scene in the doll house is really creative and fun. I wish the actors would be a little more in your face but this is a great haunt worth visiting each year. read more

If you're debating if you want to go to the house of shadows or the fear or whatever other haunted house, this is your answer: the fear pdx is the only haunted house thats scared me. The house of shadows is no where even close to the fear. No it's not a full contact but it still will make you jump. Another thing is if you're debating to do the extreme part that they added this year. DO IT. the extreme was probably my favorite and it genuinely scared the sh*t outta me. The whole experience was fun and the people who work there are really nice and helped us out with any questions we had. I wanted to be scared not walk thru a poorly designed maze with scary Halloween decorations hanging. There was nothing scary about this haunted house. We waited a half hour to get tickets in the rain, then another hour just to get in. Once we finally got to the front, we were excited. Most of the actors did not stay in character and honestly I didn't even realize some of the attractions were actually supposed to be haunted houses bc there were no actors inside. On top of it being not scary at all, nobody tells you when you're entering the last attraction (clowns) and you (at least my group and I) leave pretty disappointed. Oh my goodness!!! This was by far the best haunted house I've been to ever! It was Awesome! I laughed, I cried, I was scared, and at times totally confused in the best ways!!! Lol The actors totally make this so real and the electronics and scare devices were non stop! No lie, my daughter begged me to quit so we had to stop for a second and have her take a couple deep breaths and remember it's all in good fun and she made it threw! Lol The extreme haunted house was NOO joke! From being tickled on my head and shins because there is light touching in that house, to complete and utter darkness for minutes feeling around with your hands to the inflatable walls you have to push yourself threw it was worth EVERY penny!! This was so disappointing! Long drive and more expensive than other local haunted houses so I was expecting something good. There are very few actors and even less decor. You were pretty much just walking through dark spaces the whole time hoping something would eventually jump out and scare you. Boring. Take your money somewhere else. The one thing I did like was that you went through all 6 "haunted houses" straight through without having to queue for them individually. read more

A great series of haunted houses with different themes. Good gore, maybe could use a bit more blood splatter though. The Decay was good even came with built-in mud puddles. The pit was scary because it was so dark you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. All in all a great adventure worth coming to visit and I can't wait for the Christmas one. read more
