We used Feast For A King for catering for our wedding, and were overall really impressed! They provided: 1. 4 passed appetizers 2. The reception food (one of 4 main options) 3. The cocktails (2 cocktails, 1 mocktail - unlimited per head) All of which were customized to our specs. We were incredibly impressed with them during our tasting. Everything tasted the same quality as it would be served in a restaurant; it certainly didn't taste like "wedding food" - and given how snobby we are about food, we were super impressed. They were really good about communication, too. And while the pricepoint wasn't cheap (~$38,000 for a 148 person wedding), we opted to go with Feast For A King. The Good: - Overall the food was very high quality, significantly above average quality for wedding food - Extremely communicative and easy to work with - Wait staff were amazing day-of! The Not-So-Good: - I would say the food was ~15% worse than when we tasted day of. While this may be expected for bulk food, for the pricepoint I was expecting closer to perfection - They ran out of one of the cocktails at one point, and needed to ship in more, causing a bit of a disruption with bartending service - The quality of the drinks definitely varied; several guests said that they ordered the same drink, but each of their drinks tasted different Overall really happy with them, and would definitely recommend! read more

I can't say enough great things about this catering company. They had great selections for the food as well as had the colors of linens I wanted. On the day of the wedding, the three person team that worked that day were very professional and nice. Everyone had nothing but nice things to say about them and the food and drink. I had two delicious mocktails, one called "Snowtime spritz" and the other "Apple of my Eye". The second one was by far the favorite, but both were good. I forgot to mention that we also had a large cheese and cured meats board. We booked Feast for a King to cater an 85-person backyard wedding and they did a phenomenal job! Many of our guests told us afterwards it was the best wedding food they ever had. We worked primarily with Morgan Thomas who was very helpful. We had a backyard wedding, so Feast for a King set up a whole external kitchen outside of the house to prepare all the food. They did a stationary apps table and some tray-passed apps (the ahi mini tacos were a huge hit). The staff also set aside a plate of apps for us during cocktail hour as we were signing our marriage license, which was very thoughtful--since with all the chaos of the wedding we probably wouldn't have eaten anything during cocktail hour otherwise. We were able to provide our own alcohol and select a few signature cocktails, and Feast for a King provided a bartending team to prepare and serve the drinks. We got lots of compliments on the cocktails and the team also was able to set up welcome drinks that were ready for guests before the ceremony. All of their staff on the wedding day were extremely kind and professional (a few wedding guests mentioned this to us specifically). For the main course, we chose two types of paella to be served family-style. The food was fantastic and the family-style service was seamless. They were also able to accommodate all types of dietary restrictions with no issues. We had a ton of leftovers and the staff packaged all of the leftovers up for us after the wedding so we could enjoy it later. They were also able to cut and serve our wedding cake that we got from a local bakery for no extra cost. Lastly, they were also very helpful in providing in-house rentals, and coordinating specialty rentals from a number of different rental companies. Feast for a King catered our wedding at Roaring Camp and we had so many people come up to us and say how good the food was, and man do we agree. My wife had been saying recently how she feels like a lot of places around here don't know how to get a good sear on chicken without drying it out, but Feast for a King did it perfectly. The menu was varied, so we were able to accommodate guests who were kosher, gluten-free, allergic to avocados, allergic to kiwis, and have life-threatening nut allergies (separate people, not just one very unlucky person) no problem. The options to choose from were varied, clearly listed ingredients, etc., making it really easy to get a good mix. And again, I can't emphasize enough that the food was delicious. Not just "better than mediocre wedding food" good, but "if I got this at a restaurant I would be very happy" good. Feast for a King catered the food for our wedding and it was delicious. The menu was exactly what we were hoping for (Paella with a salad on the side) and they were able to make 3 different Paellas including a vegan option. The dessert (flan and churros) was so delicious that we didn't even get to try it because our guests kept coming back for more. They were incredibly flexible and creative with a venue that does not normally host weddings and didn't have the infrastructure to cook food for 100+ people. The staff that worked the wedding was incredibly hardworking and many of our guests commented on how attentive they were. I had a wonderful experience working with Kim and FFAK! They were referred to me by our wedding coordinator who has had many successful events with them under her belt which should speak volumes in and of itself. It's hard to quantify success and value for something as primal as wedding food, which let's face it - gets a not so good wrap most of the time. FFAK knocked it out of the park from every angle. The Food: We had a mainly American menu of barbeque tri-tip, chicken and grilled veggies along with complimentary fingerling potatoes/cipollini onions, a cool pasta salad and summer greens. PERFECTION. They barbequed onsite which allowed for everything to be super fresh and I have received so many rave reviews on the food - the wedding food!! The Staff & Service: Even more important, the FFAK staff was fantastic. Working with Kim throughout the planning process was relaxed and fun. Her and her team's experience and professionalism kept me at ease. Another reviewers' experience of the staff making off with the leftovers is very far from my own. We had about 20+ meals left over, which were packaged up for us at the end of the evening and given to us. The best part was that we were able to enjoy the food with our family and friends for days afterward, which was a totally unexpected bonus, but so nice to have as you realize you're too pooped to cook/entertain. The Planning: Kim was extremely organized, professional, creative and flexible during the evaluation and planning process. She was extremely accommodating to my busy schedule (which is ironic considering how busy she can get) and fun to work with on selecting all the rental linens and place settings. She addressed so many little details - from garnish on hors devours platters, to utilizing her own inventory of unique baskets and serving dishes that really added character to the event. We booked Feast for a King for a combination birthday/New Years Eve party involving a buffet + passed appetizers + dessert for 50 people. Our planner's menu suggestions were perfect - we got a ton of compliments on how tasty the food was. The tuna won tons topped the hit list, but we also loved the salmon and potato bites. The short ribs were fork-tender and the warm autumn salad was a perfect antidote to the cold rainy weather. We were able to work out even the smallest details, like how to break down unobtrusively while the party was still going on. The crew went above and beyond in not just keeping the food refreshed and the party area tidy, but also chatting with guests and helping clean up spills. I recently had my tasting with Feast for a King Catering and they 100% won me over with their delicious food. I cannot wait to have them at my wedding in January. Their dishes are delicious and they make me feel like I'm serving my guests high quality food even though it uses more scalable methods. In the end, we decided to go with their tilapia, a hanger steak and a hearty spinach salad. I think that the menu really compliments the fact that I have a winter wedding, so I'm excited that they had a variety of dishes for me to pick from. Kim and Michelle have been an absolute pleasure to work with - they're both so responsive and extremely helpful. Leading up to the wedding day and even on the day itself they were so attentive and made sure that every detail was taken care of. They delivered something delicious to everyone, and it was great hearing people say how much they appreciated being fully included. FFAK catered my June 2 2018 wedding at Rancho Soquel and did an amazing job! In the beginning I worked with Erika finalizing what we wanted on the estimate and she was very helpful in answering a lot of my questions. Towards the end of the planning process I started working with Michele and Sue and they were also very helpful! Michele took the time to explain things over the phone with my mom and I and even adjusted some things on the estimate to give us a better deal which was really appreciated. It was refreshing to work with someone in the wedding industry that had our best interests in mind and not just after our money. My fiance, mom, and I got to go to the Chic Warehouse and pick out our glasses, plates, napkins, and silverware and that was really fun too! The only negative was that these beautiful vintage plates and salad plates we special ordered did not show up at the wedding which was a bummer because we planned the entire tablescape around those plates. However, Michele said she would make it right for us and honestly no one wouldve known the difference anyways. Also, the food was great and we were thankful we got to try it at a tasting! My mom and I both agreed we are so happy with the caterers and totally understand why our venue has them as a preferred vendor. I have to agree with all the positive comments from the other reviewers. It's true, Feast For A King is awesome! They catered my August 7 wedding at the Castle House & Gardens in Bonny Doon. We decided on them because we heard through word of mouth how good they are and I definitely shopped around and got a lot of quotes. They were one of the few caterers willing to work with my budget. We received so many compliments about the food from our guests, especially the beefs filets and salad. People are still talking about our wedding food. Our floral designer, who has tasted tons of wedding food said it was the best ever. The filets were cooked perfectly and several guests said it was the best salad they ever had. We thought Kim's customer service was great. She responded promptly to emails and was very patient through the whole ordering process. Our onsite manager, Sean, was also fantastic. Super easy vendor to work with! It was great working with a full-service caterer because they handled all the rentals for us, which was such a stress reducer! They know exactly what and how many things you need to order for your wedding size and handle all the rental pick ups and returns. Kim even helped us figure out how many cases of wine and champagne we needed to buy. They allow you to bring your own beer, wine and champagne and do not charge a corkage fee. Very important! The food was absolutely amazing, I am still hearing from my guests how delicious the food was, and that it was the "best wedding food they've ever had" (and I would have to agree, especially as we ate the leftovers the next day). FFAK catered our wedding in May 2012. After hiring them, I had some communication problems - it took Kim a while to get back to us, and we had to go over some of the details a few times as it didn't seem they were paying really close attention to the details of our event. She went on vacation right before our event and I still had things to work out such as rental details, alcohol, # of guests etc. With that said, when it came to the day-of the day went off without a hitch. The food was fantastic and the staff worked very hard. We re-purposed our ceremony chairs for the reception and they moved them all very quickly. They also passed out our signature cocktails to guests during cocktail hour and the appetizers. Based on the problems I had going into it, I am not 100% sure I'd use them again, but my hope is that this was an unusual experience as it seems everyone else has had a good time with them. read more

Michele and her crew helped us create a beautiful small wedding for my daughter. Our original plan had been a large wedding and Feast for a King was going to cater it. When we had to cancel our original wedding due to COVID, Michele was extremely flexible and helpful. We were able to reschedule and have a classy event with 18 people on September 4th in our backyard. We worked mostly with Kim in planning the catering and rentals for our wedding. When we first met with her, she was informative and professional and had great options for food, linens, and tableware. The food tasting was exceptional, we were right away impressed by the food compared to other tastings we had been to. Once we booked with her she provided us with a write up of all our food, linen, and tableware choices with a list of prices/quotes next to each item. Over the course of 8 months, the price per place setting went up from $6 to $7 to our final quote of $8 per place setting. When asked about this, Kim said that the original $6 quote was an error and that it should have said $8 all along. Kim was difficult to get a hold of until at least 1-2 weeks before the wedding date. Once, she was focused on our upcoming wedding then we were able to meet with her to make last minute detail changes with linens and rentals. Kim was not there the day of the wedding, but the staff who were there were very professional. The food was good, but one of the main entrees was different than the tasting. At the tasting, the lasagna was full of butternut squash and kale, at our wedding the lasagna consisted mostly of limp noodles and cream sauce with very little squash or kale. This was disappointing, but otherwise the food was a hit. We believe that our guests were appropriately offered water and drinks throughout the reception, however, the groom and I were only offered once. After our initial glass of wine, no one offered us a drink again and this was also disappointing. Otherwise, we had a lovely wedding day with professional staff and good food. Our first taste of Feast For A King catering was at a private tasting event at Regale Winery. The food was so absolutely amazing that we knew we had to have them cater our wedding and booked both them and the venue that very day! For example, their turkey breast: When most people hear turkey breast, they think of lean, dry, boring white meat. But FFAK's was the best turkey breast we've ever had. It was so juicy and delicious, we hyped it up to all our guests and they were in absolute agreement! We packed out wedding menu with flatbreads, appetizers, tri tip, turkey, fish, veggies, pasta, bread pudding, and more. My mouth is watering thinking about it again... For us, the most important aspect of our wedding was the food (and that's probably what we spent the most on), and FFAK did not disappoint! People raved about the food for weeks after the wedding! Kim, Michelle, and the whole team worked so hard to make our special day amazing and unforgettable. They took care of so much, made sure all our guests were well fed, and even followed us around with a tray of appetizers on the day of to make sure we were eating! The only hiccup we encountered was with the cakes. We wanted to save the top tier of our cake, but at the end of the night it turned out they threw away the bakery provided boxes, and so my brother in law had to balance a two-tier cake on his lap for the 45 min drive home. We also had three sheet cakes to be cut up and served after the cake cutting, but we found out at the end of the night that only one was even touched. Asking our family and friends afterwards, it seemed like only half the guests were served cake. Everything about Feast for a King was wonderful from beginning to end. They catered by 60th Birthday Party for 60 people and were incredibly responsive, friendly and very professional. The owner, Michele listened to me carefully and knew exactly what to do to make the party a success. The organization and lay out of the tables for the event (two different rooms, and an outdoor area) was perfect. My guests raved about the food and I was particularly happy that so many of my guests complemented the party staff. Michelle is Fantastic. She was very responsive to my initial inquiry, and was lovely to chat with on the phone. She had answers to every question I had. She's very knowledgable. Their group food tasting was one of my favorite parts of the wedding planning process. Absolutely delicious. The cheeses - just wow. The salad with the flowers - favorite. The chicken - scrumptious.
