I'm not one for fast food in life, but this is one of those delicious exceptions. We visited this spot on part of our food tour and at first I was a little apprehensive why a fast food spot would be on our food tour, but then I tasted these croquettes that are made fresh throughout the day. In fact, the food can't stay in the vending slots after 20 mins, so that's how they keep it all so fresh. It's a little walk up vending machine style box, where you can go and pick out your items. Super simple and the croquettes are simply fantastic. So much flavor packed into the bites. The thai chicken with vermicelli noodles was incredible. WOW! Landed this AM, jet lagged, and searching for something salty to finish the day, as we hadn't really had dinner. I don't eat a lot of fried food, but I loooove croquettes, so gave Febo a try. Update to the many old reviews that I found here: no coins, 3-4 euros, and you tap your card on the reader and push a button to get your selection. Looks like the fare hasn't changed much. The "spicy" (Dutch spicy? Whatever, not to this AZ girl) croquette rocked! They have fried options and burgers in the wall machine, and chicken, frites, ice cream, and other stuff on the wall. Its relatively cheap and very fast, so perfect for hungry people who don't want a e30 dinner, or anyone with small kids. Ok where do I start ? This food was actually so good! My boyfriend and I kept passing by these, so after a night of drinking we came here to check it out. It's always open which is super convenient. This is literally a walk up vending machine with good food. There's chicken sandwiches and cheese burgers. You just put change into the machinne and choose which one you want. There's always a bunch of people here. So if you are on the go and want street food or you want to grab late night food, tHis is your spot ! They also have fries and chicken legs that you can actually buy from the counter. TRY THE CHICKEN LEG ! The chicken leg was so good that we came back the next nighht for them again. You go to the wall of food, put your money by the item you want, the buttons next to the drawers will light up, you push it, and the drawer opens for you to retrieve you food. Easy peezy. They have a counter where you can interact with a person to order fries or milkshakes. After a long day of sightseeing around central Amsterdam, I wasn't super hungry, so I didn't plan on going to a sit down place to grab food. Instead, I passed by this place called Febo, which looked kind of cool. It was almost like a self service style restaurant. Basically there was just a bunch of vending machines that had hot food in it and there's also a change machine if you need to break a few dollars. You put some coins in (like 1.50 euro), open the door, and grab the food. They keep refilling these spots with fresh, hot food. I tried two types of croquettes: beef (rundvleeskroket) and veal (kalfsvleeskroket). Although it was looked like mystery meat paste to me, they were actually really tasty. Super crispy breading on the outside and piping hot filling that kind of tasted like a thick gravy with specs of meat throughout. I had no clue what I just ate, but hey I didn't get sick, so I'll chalk it up as a win. Overall, Febo gets the job done. Quick and simple snacks at the cost of some pocket change. Definitely an interesting concept that we don't have in the US. read more

Walk up to this vending machine type of fast food, and be amazed at all the deep fried goodness that is right before your eyes! I normally do not eat fast food, especially since Europe has so many fresh bakeries all over. However, when coming here, I just couldn't help it! I just had to do it! Options of burgers, bitteballen (croquettes), satays, etc all are stocked behind the vending machine that keep the food hot. On the other side of the door there is the cook who keeps filling up the machines on demand. The concept is neat, I just wish they had more options. Although not even entirely hungry, when I walked by this place, I opted for a beef bittenballen and it was delicious! Crispy nice deep fried edge, with a smooth and creamy filling inside. "Febo" must mean "drunk food" in Dutch. A good selection of frites, chicken or cheese 'croquettes,' satays, burgers, etc. all vended from a chrome "Automat" style storefront without the pesky need to slur your request to a human. You scan the selection, select a tasty morsel, put in your 1 Euro (sometimes more) and open the little door for some fast food, Dutch-style. The frites are good and fresh at the Reguliersbreestraat location (conveniently near the bars and 'coffee' shops of the Rembrandtplein area). Open very late. Recommended. read more

I had a burger here for the novelty of it. It was gross (burger king quality, at best). You put money in a slot and open up the burger that you see/want, sitting under a heat lamp. It's an interesting concept, but not particularly well executed here. At least the food is very fast (as fast as you can get your change out --- and they do have a change dispensing machine as well, because the food bays require exact change). I'm sure this place would be great if I had the munchies or was drunk... but I was neither. read more

Being English, FEBO was quite a novel concept! Having recently moved to Amsterdam we vowed to try it having walked passed and chuckling before. This is Dutch fast food at its finest. They have all their selections in an automated wall like vending machine style slots. You basically drop a euro or two in the slot and the door opens. Very easy for those you want something quick without waiting in line. They also have someone at the desk you can order from as well. I didn't have change so I went this route. Service was friendly enough and I experienced my first Dutch croquettes which were amazing. They aren't the healthiest for sure, but you can't go wrong with deep fried minced beef and gravy in a convenient handheld shell. read more
