Febos are all around Amsterdam so we had to stop in when we happened to walk past one. I didn't grab anything myself but my friend got a croquette and all of us a tried a little! oh how i dream of Febo. I first came here november 1999. I was intimidated by the concept and never made it in... November 2000 we returned to Amsterdam and braved my fears and tried FEBO...what a miraculous day that was! Fast forward to 2024...i returned and brought my children to the exact same location that i had visited previously. I have told them about this amazing place that serves fresh hot food in little windows. My daughter (the healthy one) wanted no part of the deep fried goodness. My son and i came here 3 times and ultimately tried everything on the menu. On our final visit we even ordered fries from the counter! whoa! The guy behind the counter was super helpful and patient with my foreign and inexperienced manner. I only wish FEBO would come to the states. fingers crossed read more

Very convenient to stop by and grab something to snack on. It's warm and fresh. Though it's mostly fried items, they do offer burgers also. Didn't get any of them. I think it's a little pricey, but I could live with the costs. It can get very hectic and crowded here especially on Kings day when we walked past it. read more

FEBO is most notable for vending machine fast food. We scanned our credit card to pay and then selected something from behind the window. I had two of their fried items, which were good for what they are. We ate them while standing at the counter located in the side. There are also items you can purchase at the register. Everyone who visits Amsterdam should give it a try. read more

I it was really cool to see an old-fashioned automat here in downtown Amsterdam. You put coins in a door and open it up to hamburgers, croquettes, and other foods I don't know how good the food is, but it was fun to see. read more

I love this concept for a street snack! It was so easy to just put in some euros and push a button to grab deliciously fried food. I got 3 things that I will never be able to pronounce in this life time. A Frikandel, Speciaaltje, and Kalfsvleeskroket. Frikandel: At first look, I thought it was just a long version of a breakfast sausage. And it was! But a better and improved version. Super flavorful and juicy! Speciaaltje: The only thing I can say about this is that it's a juicy deep fried meatball square. It's jam packed with flavors and you can see the diced onion pieces in it. Typing this is making my mouth water! Kalfsvleeskroket: This is Amsterdam's version of a croquette! Usually I'm use to croquettes filled with potato, but this one had no potato. It was instead a creamy mixture of veggies & veal (Available with other meats). It was like I bit into a soup filled pocket held by fried breadcrumbs. And it was GREAT. I highly recommend you try all the different fried foods. My favorite one is the Kalfsvleeskroket. It's super affordable (every item less than 3€) and it kept me warm on this winter night in Amsterdam. We tried everything here. The veggie burger and normal burger were both good. The fried cheese is the absolute best though everyone should try this 12/10. For anyone craving some late night junk food, come here and not the McDonalds or Burger King that are close by. It's definitely worth the cool experience of a vending machine style fresh/fast food. Bring exact change (or ask for it) though since it only takes coins and won't give you change! read more

My friend really wanted me to try Febo, and it was different than I imagined. I was not expecting an actual person cooking the food in the back, but makes sense. We had a croquette with curry and beef, surprisngly, it wasn't bad at all! Quite tasty, hot, and cheap! I would much rather prefer eating at McD's across the street to satisfy the munchies, but this place was rather decent. read more

After watching an episode of The Layover, I set my sights on checking this place out. I was very surprised to see a guy cooking the food on site prior to placing it into the vending machine. There was even a small counter where you could order some freshly made French fries. I didn't have a huge appetite when I visited, so I went with broodje kroket (croquette in a bun). The kroket must've been a fresh one, because it was pretty damn hot. I'm not an expert in Dutch food, but it was edible. I gave my buddy half and we were on our way. I wouldn't recommend having a meal here, but it's worth as much of a visit as the I Am Amsterdam letters for any tourist. read more

I went to the branch on Damrak not Leidsestraat, however you're undoubtedly going to get pretty much the same experience at all of them. Basically you get krokets (a meaty mix wrapped in dough and breadcrumbs), burgers and the like out of hot glass vending cabinets. They taste pretty much of cardboard and after trying a couple of the items I felt no compulsion to go ever again. The slogan de Lekkerste means the tastiest in Dutch. I think the least tasty would be far closer to the mark. McDonalds looks like a Michelin-starred restaurant by comparison. read more

God, how I love Febo! My other half is Dutch and so on our regular trips to Amsterdam, I always partake of a little Febo goodness. Be warned, there's little in the way of healthy food here. It's all fried, fried, fried. Think Homer Simpson. But my God, it's beautiful. Forget about your cholesterol count and dig in. The novelty factor is also part of Febo's attraction. Self-service via little plastic windows - you pick exactly what you want, drop in the coins and pick up your food. My favourites are the krokets (there are several different kinds) and the kaasouffle (deep-fried cheese). The frites are great too, served of course with mayonnaise. Although the previous reviewer pointed out the labels are in Dutch, in my experience locals are only too happy to translate for you if you ask nicely. And now I'm drooling read more

Fried fast food of croquettes and fries. Gross and amazing at the same time. The little see-through lockers filled with croquettes are super cute. A little confusing at first on how to operate but then you figure it out. Get your change first before putting your money into the locker. You must have exact change otherwise the machine eats your money (learned this the hard way - luckily it wasn't that much). I really like the croquette in a burger bun and the satay croquette. AMAZING when you are eating it but then the sense of regret follows you afterward. After two days of stopping by Febo twice for the satay croquette- never again will I partake in this cheap, fried, and completely guilt-ridden food again. Next time I am in Amsterdam, I will try the fries because practically all the Dutchies were only ordering the fries. Maybe they are onto something... hmmm read more

These fried food snack shops in Amsterdam were a novelty for us since they were like vending machines staffed by people. The wall was covered withy little plastic lockers, each containing a croquette of some type. Unfortunately all the labels were in Dutch so we didn't know what we were eating but to be honest they mostly tasted the same! You put your coins in the slot, which allow you to open the door for your selected snack box. Though I'm sure it's terribly unhealthy and down at heel, it was great fun as well and the food was hot, cheap and tasty. So it's good enough for me! read more

These food kiosks are really a novelty for anyone not brought up in the Netherlands. At the automats the food sits behind little glass doors and you put in coins to open them and take out the food. Typical things that are served include frikandellen (a mixed meat skinless fried sausage), kroketten (fried breadcrumbed ragout of meat), kaassoufle (crispy fried cheese). As you can probably see it's not exactly health food, but some of it is quite tasty (well, in my opinion anyway) and it's amusing to use if you're not used to it.
