Our first meal in Auckland and it was the perfect spot to start the vacation. The space is large, bright, and breezy with the open air lack-of-windows when the weather is good. It's a mixed use space where you can come here for brunch which is excellent or have a coffee and snack while you get some work done. We both ordered eggs benny. One was a smoked salmon one while the other was the more classic style with lashings of bacon. They were both delicious with perfectly poached eggs that provided the yolky thick sauce along with the hollandaise to make it rich and creamy. The bread was thick cut and toasted well to hold up against the weight of the sauce and protein stacked on top. We really felt energized and less jet-lagged after taking our time to enjoy the meal along with a cup of New Zealand organic tea. The place is also located in a "quiet" street corner of the Auckland Central Business District which was a real bonus. Overall, a great first meal choice here in Auckland for us.

Super cute little cafe in the heart of Auckland, very close to the sky tower. I was looking for a cafe to have some breakfast at and get some work done. I stumbled upon Federal & Wolfe and they had a great menu, and I decided to go with their Dukkah Eggs which is a fan favourite! Included poached eggs, dukkah, free range bacon, rocket, a balsamic reduction and on a bed of sourdough toast! Accompanied by one of their fresh pressed juices called "the zinger" which had apple, pear, ginger and lemon. It was so refreshing and the colour was a pretty lime green. And their strong latte's we're creamy and rich! Deffo recommend this place for a breakfast or coffee date!

The staff was very very kind, smiling all the time. The ambiance is relax. We took fresh juices (mine was zinger..) and were excellent. The muffins and banana bread were excellent too. Unfortunately, it is closed on sunday like many restaurants in Auckland...

A perennial breakfast favorite for Auckland CBD area. Never ever disappoints and plenty of creative options to choose from. Service is always friendly and helpful, if you're in Auckland, please do go by and start a our day right. I've visited this place every time I'm in town, which is about a dozen or so times now. Been to numerous other places but still find myself coming back here. The quality is just consistent and good every single time. So, pretty much everything on the menu is absolutely wonderful. Favorites must be the avocado on toast, not your run of the mill basic ago toast, but a wonderful souped up version with plenty of herbs on thick sliced toast and a balsamic vinaigrette that will put all other avo toasts to shame. The other must try is the mushroom medley on toast. Really rich and wonderful, umami everything. Don't forget to add a poached egg! Their house made Manuka smoked salmon is a lovely addition to their zucchini fritters. Plenty of options for vegans and vegetarians but if you need more protein they have great bacon and other meat dishes and sandwiches too. Did I also mention that they make a mean cup of Joe?

Really nice place to grab breakfast. We went there on a Wednesday around 7:45 am got a seat next to the big window and enjoyed the breeze. This place became somewhat crowded around 8:50am when we left. We went for the granola to share which was ok. I tried the halloumi poached egg which was good. The bread was a bit hard though and we thought it would be better if they had each egg on a different bread rather than covering only one bread and stacking the other bread below it. My wife went for the avocado on toast and it looks good too. Overall recommend this place for breakfast while in Auckland.

Went here for brunch / breakfast on a Saturday morning and we thought it wasn't thaw good. Service is spotty. I mean they are way too relaxed to give you a good enough service. I thought the portions were small for what we paid I requested a side of mushrooms ( $5) and when they didn't arrive the waitress simply said ," oh ! The chef must have gotten creative and put them inside your sandwich " ...... oh .... seriously ??? NOT coming back obviously

I'm not so much into the vibe at Federal & Wolfe and it's not a place I could see myself hanging out in on the regular but they do a very good breakfast. Their sweet risotto with fruit compote is gluten and dairy free, not too sweet, and totally delicious. I had it with a side of bacon and a pot of tea and was fueled up for the morning in the best way possible.

Delicious eggs benedict with salmon and kedgeree. Service was brisk and very friendly. Good bakery selection and tea selection for us non-coffee drinkers. A little off the beaten path and lots of locals.

The half that was left of my dukkah eggs with chorizo: to die for!

Laid back non-pretentious vibe cafe with graffiti on the walls but top notch service and food. Not a cheap place but worth every penny in my opinion. I was there for a late holiday breakfast at 10:00 and the place was buzzing. Had a fantastic juice with carrot (think there was also orange and pineapple in it), the dukkah eggs with chorizo which were absolutely to die for, and a flat white. I'd definitely recommend it and I know I'd be a regular if I lived here!

I stopped here for my first meal in New Zealand, and ugh. It was good. It reminded me quite a bit of hipster San Francisco with it's woodsy modern ambiance and graffiti style writing. The breakfast choices are quite filling and high quality at a slightly high, but reasonable price. I was ravenous from our flight in, and got the Smoked Fish Kedgeree. I admired the lovely bright orange-yellow egg (eggs in America are a depressing mild yellow variety) and took in the scent of the herbed rice. Yes, I knew it was going to be a fantastic trip. The husby got the Dukkah eggs with the chorizo and was equally elated. We enjoyed a white espresso and chai latte with our meals and headed out on our merry way.

Really hit the spot! Friendly staff, great menu and we had an amazing time. We'll definitely be back!! We missed our ferry to Rangitoto so thought we'd get some brekkie while we waited. The Yelp reviews for this place are well justified and the food was amazing.

Federal & Wolfe is a little bit of soul amongst skyscrapers and financial services. Sadly, I was only in for coffee (Kokako, my fave) but the muffins and other baked goods looked pretty delicious and the breakfast menu was very appetising. I brought my team back a day later (we were in the city for conference) and converted them all - nothing is better than a decent cup of coffee when you're otherwise stuck with the giant vats of car grease that you get function venues - so that several of them were back again on Day Three! The vibe is very relaxed and welcoming, with none of the pretension you might expect either from a cafe in the business district or space that's primarily organic with graffiti menus on the walls. I'll have to make an effort to get into the city on a Saturday for breakfast so I can try out their food, but next time I've got a morning meeting in town I'll be sure to stop here.

    Outside, street view

Chic, rustic, breakfast joint in the business district of Auckland. They have a variety of breakfast entrees to include yummy vegan options. I am not a vegan, so when I have an internal debate about creamy mushroom toast or a vegetable omelette, they got the goods! I ordered the sunny side up eggs with smoked salmon and toast. So simple but oh so good! No need to dress up anything. All they did was add salsa. The freshness of everything made the meal great. Now I see why they made the metro's top restaurant list.

Cajun chicken (free range of course) with radicchio and cucumber yoghurt... Delish

The location is lovely - looking out over the water at all those boats. Beautiful on a stunning Auckland summer day. ... But the food is just average. I ordered bacon and eggs on ciabatta. And while you can't exactly screw that up, you can make it pretty average - which is exactly what this place did. The bacon was terrible quality, it was covered in fat and it came out looking horrible on the plate, just dumped on the side. My poached eggs hadn't been drained properly and were watery tasting as well, so that made the bread taste awful. The bread wasn't well toasted, it was somewhere in between... I just don't get it. I could have got better at home, and I wouldn't have paid $18 for it. The muesli that my friends ordered was bland and didn't come with any yoghurt, so it looked dry as anything. Coffee was average, it wasn't disgusting but it wasn't great. It's just... pretty average. It seem clearly to me that this is a place that relies solely on its location.

When they brought out my latte, i asked if it was the hazelnut latte (as that was what i ordered) just to verify because she only said it was a latte. She acted really confused then said that she didnt know. Later when bringing out the eggs, as they were auctioning off the two egg dishes and we all pointed to the one at our table who ordered it and all said it was his, and they acted really confused until we repeated ourselves like 3 times.
