Walking about Auckland, I found this spot for breakfast and decided to give it a go. I ordered an eggs florentine without the english muffin (striving for Paleo), avocado, and a long black. It was quite tasty: the eggs were poached halfway between over-easy and over-medium, so the yolk didn't go all runny everywhere, and the avocados were fresh. After my meal, I looked over on the wall and noted that they have a selection of juices and smoothies. My eyes were immediately drawn to the hot honey lemon & ginger brew. I've been attracted to all things lemon and ginger, namely for their detoxifying effects, but I have always been a fan of ginger because of its fresh taste and its spiciness. The drink was phenomenal, and I look forward to making it a part of my routine during the week, as they are closed on Sundays. :( read more

A cosmopolitan venue with a small but terrific menu. The steak sandwich was amazing as was the salmon dish we had for brunch. An excellent mix of freshly made juices and the best coffee we've enjoyed in Auckland. They seem happy to serve and whilst the prices are a little above average, they're worth every cent. read more

Oooh, I'd actually say this place is a 3.5 but can't do a 4.... Caught up with some friends here on Saturday. Apparently F&W has only just started opening on Saturdays? Someone confirm that rumour for me. Menu looked delicious, and as much as I wanted those eggs florentine, I had JUST gone to a spin/RPM class at the gym and I thought it would be terrible to have alllllll that butter. Of course, I ended up stealing some off a plate, but that's by the by. I ordered poached eggs on sourdough. Can't really go too wrong there. Eggs? Good, if a little overdone. Does anyone do runny eggs anymore? We had this discussion while there - seems not. Bread? Good, if also a little overdone. I worry about the aggressiveness with my knife and fork when eating crusty sourdough - I like good table manners, so it annoys me when it's super crusty, but again, that's by the by... And the coffee. Also good. Knocked back quite quickly! I had a little bit of food envy for the mango smoothie my friend had - that looked delish but I didn't try any so can't comment. It comes served in a big jam jar, almost overflowing. Lots of goodness in there, I'm sure. Service was good, nothing outstanding. One waitress was a little keen to get in and get out, but it is brunch so I'm not expecting the world. All in all, I loved the environment, not too many peeps around, AND apparently an All Black was eating there with us before the big game. I didn't recognise him at all, but apparently he was there. I took the reviews from fellow yelpers on this cafe. This cafe delivered the expectation and has a great ambience for a CBD cafe. I ordered a flat white and a panini which was served with a small side salad (an added bonus). The cost of both items didnt break the bank either. Certainly a very reasonably priced cafe in Auckland CBD. The flat white is just perfect and the panini is nicely toasted too. :) The cafe has a buzzing feeling and is brightened with natural light and air. Something not all cafe in the city can offer these days. Although it is a bit of a walk from my office but I will certainly come back for a coffee or lunch. On a nice sunny day, I wouldn't mind the walk and enjoy a chil-lax lunch sitting in this sunny cafe! Give it a go! read more

Federal & Wolfe was the best place we stopped at for breakfast as we trekked through New Zealand for our honeymoon. It was quaint, chill, and perhaps possibly maybe just a tad bit hipster. No matter what you label it, the atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable. And seems to be a contrast to the corporate world it's surrounded by. We got the Dukkah Eggs and Bircher Muesli, and holy cow, we were full pretty much the rest of the day. The Dukkah Eggs dish was probably the best breakfast dish I've had in a long while. It was complete. The Bircher Muesli was pretty standard, but still very, very good. It was rich and filling. We paired our breakfasts with a latte and piccolo, and both were delicious. The brownies that came with them were also pretty amazing, and the extras they gave us at the end became a great dessert. I can only wish that we have something like Federal & Wolfe in my hometown. read more

The Dukkah Eggs are amazing! Good strong coffee and great food gets the stars. It's kind of a hipster place with lots of vegan choices on the menu. The Chai Latte and Almond Croissant are very tasty. A good breakfast choice in Auckland. read more

My wife and I stopped in for a smoothie before traveling. The man at the counter was rude and made the wrong smoothie on purpose, it was the consistency of water. When I returned it , he blamed my wife for ordering wrong one. I left it on the counter. This is the first rude person we've encountered in New Zealand, hope it's the last. read more

Good coffee, and the various fancy egg dishes were tasty and fresh. They cooked my son's fried eggs perfectly, the bread was crispy, and my Moroccan beans with eggs on-top was full of flavor. Coffees were good too. The atmosphere was that airy and well lit thing, with big sections of the glass wall-ettes that opened up. Came here for a quick breakfast before our day trip to Waiheke Island and it was perfect! Great location, super close to the ferry docks. Seated right away, no wait. Our waitress was very kind and attentive. My husband ordered the smoked salmon bagel, very tasty! I had the eggs benedict with fresh bacon, which I think was the better between the two. We had breakfast twice this week at Federal & Wolfe - favorites were the dukkha eggs and the creamy mushrooms on toast (with a poached egg added - do it!). The dukkha eggs were unique with a light spice and a great balance of salty bacon, bright greens, a touch of sweetness from the balsamic reduction and acid from the citrus whipped feta, all served on toasted sourdough with perfectly poached eggs. The creamy mushrooms were savory with a bit of sweet balsamic reduction, peppery arugula and the poached egg was a great addition. But better than that....coconut chocolate banana bread. We stumbled on this delightful breakfast spot while in Auckland. All The food we saw looked delish! We ordered the halloumi Benedict minus the eggs. It was so tasty. I would have preferred to add more halloumi since we didnt have the poached eggs. But it was perfect flavor nonetheless! The sauce was perfect and a good amount of it! One of my favourite city cafes and a definite cut above the rest. The area around St Patrick's square has got some great eating options and Federal & Wolfe is no exception. It's one of the few eco-friendly cafes in the city and worth a visit for their free range and organic meals (including meats). Great menu, really friendly service, and the coffee is top notch. It's open on the weekend and is a good place to start before embarking on shopping expeditions. read more
