When you need it the most it won't work but luckily FedEx Office Print & Ship Center has several machines which always seem to be ready for use as soon as I walked through the door. On my most recent stop in I needed to print a form, fill it out and the email a scanned copy of it to an insurance provider. I was able to do all of that from the kiosk for less than $2 which is way better than another $40 ink cartridge only to find out my printer still won't print. I've done some Amazon returns here before. They printed a label from my email and as a courtesy finished taping up the box for me during my last visit. They have a ton of business supplies, so it's great if you're in town for business and left something behind they are conveniently located near the airport and all the hotels on Wolf road. read more

I have been here at least a dozen times this year alone. Many of the times are now in-and-out without problem (I mostly just use their self-service printers and/or scanners) and those are relatively trouble free. Occasionally the machine doesn't work, or it scans the wrong thing, or it jams, or the software crashes. But I have figured out most of the workarounds, and the staff will help if my attempts fail. I recently had to mail a ten-page document to Pennsylvania and since I was here I assumed it would be easier than going to the Post Office. Well, it sort of was, though I had to buy a mailing envelope (thin flexible one was $3) and then the postage for their cheapest FedEx option was $11. At the Post Office, both would have probably cost me $5 total. Lesson learned. Make copies/prints here and most of the time it will work, but to then mail them go to the nearby Post Office. read more

It's been over two years since I wrote my first review for this place and I'm still a fan. Maybe even a bigger fan. Which is saying a lot, considering the place is no longer open 24 hours. Yes, I do miss those after midnight outings to get name badges printed for Yelp events. But in reality, the a-team never was assigned the overnight shifts. Since then I've used the FedEx office for a staggering number of small, but urgent, print jobs. Including but not limited to booklets, invitations, and signage. And the more I go there, the more I realize what this location can do. One time, the guy ahead of me was getting a photo printed onto a vinyl sign, and the clerk offered to put grommets on the corners of the sign so it could be easily hung and removed. Light bulb! I had a vinyl sign. And it didn't have any grommets at all. So I brought it in, and now it has several glorious grommets around the edges. The clerk explained to me why a sign that large needed more tie-down points along the edges, and now I love my newly improved, multi-functional vinyl sign. On another trip, I noticed a self-standing 8.5 x 11" sign on the counter. So I asked about how much something like that cost to make. Five bucks? Sign me up! Since then, I've had three made. Recently, in the back, they were trimming up some giant printed poster on foam core. It was magnificent. Pricey, but I still want one. Maybe one of these days. Another things I love about this shop is the giant paper cutter. Yes, for pennies per cut, the staff will slice and dice your documents while you wait. But I'm a bit of a control freak. So I use the free paper cutter over by the self serve area. In fact, I've got plans to head back and use it some more this week. Is everyone on the staff always cheerful? Not always. Are they always available to do quick jobs on the spot? Sadly no. But for the most part, everyone there has been very helpful. And it's the first place that I go when I need something made. read more

I went to this FedEx location around 9 PM and the guy behind the desk was least interested in attending to me. He was busy doing some other activities all the time I was there. He couldn't get my work done but he didn't even try to do anything. He asked me to mail to the FedEx email and made me wait for sometime for it. I told, I have a baby in the car and to hurry up by which he got irritated. I really hope someone from FedEx address this issue at this location. I came from a long way to get this work done and this unhelpful service is so frustrating. A better attitude towards customer service goes a long way. I am really disappointed with the lack of enthusiasm to help a customer. I wouldn't go or recommend this FedEx location specially after 8 PM. read more

I'm a big FedEx fan, and that extends over to FedEx Office as well. Unlike UPS, FedEx has never failed me. What I like about this location in particular is the fact that they're open 24 hours. You wouldn't think that'd be necessary, but it comes in handy. A couple weeks ago I had something come up and needed a 300-page document printed ASAP. I really didn't want to do that on my home printer, and I wanted it done more professionally anyway, so I submitted the job to this FedEx Office through their website at around 10:00 PM. At 10:30 PM, I got a phone call from them saying that it'd be ready by midnight. I didn't have to pay anything extra to expedite it. When I went to pick it up, it was exactly as I had wanted. They had put it in a binder with cover and spine sheets, inserted all of the tabs I needed in the correct order, etc. Nice quality paper too, and very reasonably priced. read more

Was first one in this morning and caught an attitude from the guy working behind the desk. He was snarky and superior, even though he's just a clerk behind a desk. I detected that he had animus towards me, even though I gave him absolutely no reason. He was sarcastic in his delivery that I hadn't eh receiver's telephone number to complete the mailing. I just left. Glad I am not mailing there, given their attitude. Wouldn't trust them. read more

This place is hit or miss, but really mostly miss. The tall blond woman seems to know what's going on, and is helpful, but that's about where it ends. I went in yesterday to have something printed from Dropbox, which they have been able to do there at least 4 other times in the past couple months with no problem. The team of girls that was there yesterday said they can't print from Dropbox, and they just didn't even care to try to help or find a solution when I told them I had done it multiple times there before. They said I could try to do it myself on one of the self serve printers, which I eventually did, while they all just chattered away amongst themselves. Going in on a Friday or Saturday night seems to be a safer bet in my experience, with more competent people there, and not in the middle of a weekday. read more

I went in today to print a job that a FedEx Kinko's had just done in Seattle, Wa. The account services man listlessly rolled over to help me. As I gave him the specs of the job (I provided pdfs and all they had to do was create double-sided prints assembled from two adjacent pdfs and make multiple copies). Firstly I couldn't get a quote. He told me the cost per, but refused to give me a total until I pressed him. I asked for a sample print and he couldn't figure out how to make a doubled sided document, then couldn't figure out how to operate the printer. He never looked me in the eye, never addressed me courteously, and certainly didn't have the competence to be a printing specialist. The other associates treated me the same way, and there seemed to be tension between them all. In Seattle, I walked in, told the associate what I wanted, he printed a sample, and I was out of there in 5 minutes. Here in Colonie, it took over a half hour (and he walked away from me in the middle of the job to help another customer without saying a word to me). When he finally printed a sample, it was of poor quality. And he then couldn't figure out how to control image quality settings. In the end I just canceled the order. This is the worst customer experience I have had in years. The associates aren't friendly with customers or each other. And they don't seem to know what they are doing. Is this because of the merger with FedEx? I wouldn't be surprised. But who cares? Bottom line is that they are not providing a valuable service at this location. read more

There are things to love about this place. For one, it's 24 hours. That means you could make multiple copies at 4 in the morning if you wanted. Or you could go with a gaggle of giggling girls and copy your hand making naughty gestures at 2 a.m. Not that I've ever done that before or anything... Seriously, in high school I did a zine and so I spent a lot of time here. They were always patient and they keep stands stocked with glue sticks, tape, post-its, scissors and other materials. You can pay by credit card and they have computers and printers available too. Oh and the paper selections are pretty good. The self-serve printers in color or b&w make things much more convenient. However, ever since the merger with Fed Ex, I haven't been feeling the Kinkos love like I used to. I'm going to come right out and say it - competence of the employees seems to have gone way downhill. Any time I go there, there's always at least one clerk just standing there awkwardly despite the long line of people. Meanwhile, there's usually a few employees lingering in the back and not helping customers. One clerk in particular appears to have some sort of conviction against helping customers out. Ask him for some assistance and you can just tell he's rolling his eyes behind your back. God forbid you have a follow-up question. He's almost always there when I go in too. Is this the merger's fault? I don't know. But it's frustrating. I also think the selection of paper has gone down a bit. Still, as long as there are plenty of self-serve machines, I can deal. read more

I called ahead expressing specifically that I have a painted 18x24 canvas that I'd like to make prints from. I talked to Odessa. She insisted, yes, they could do that. I drove 40 minutes from Saratoga Springs to have it done since the Saratoga location said they didn't have a big enough scanner. Just for the printing center gentleman to tell me no, they don't have a scanner that size, but the Saratoga Springs store does as long as it's removed from the frame. Wow. This is why chain stores suck. Nobody cares to actually address a customers request so we find our own answers the hard way. Does anyone know of a local Saratoga Springs printing business that can do large prints from canvas?! read more

They won't print directly on your envelopes, so buy labels in advance. Also, the guy didn't print a test for our RSVP cards, so some of them didn't come out right. With weird paper and sizing, have them print one first. But everyone was nice and friendly, and they got the job done (at a good price). I just wish there was some alternative to one staff person going back and forth to help everyone. We spend a lot of time standing around. read more

Avoid. Sent in here to drop off a 75lb box full of auto parts with a pre printed label. Ignored me for 5 minutes instead of asking me if the package was ready to go then when they did finally ask me told me it was all set. After setting it down on the counter they refused to accept the package because the bottom bar code was missing but the 16 digit number right above it was visible. Too lazy to enter it manually I guess. Went to Walgreens and they did just that was not a problem. Why could a Walgreens do this but not an actual advertised fed ex location could not? Just more salt in the wound for a bad eBay transaction. For which, by the way, you only have a limited time to return the item. Just another of many bad fed ex experiences and yet another reason I avoid using them whenever possible. Oh yeah and the clerk thought this whole thing was highly amusing. The steps it took to get a few hundred index cards made were the following: 1. Got a quote for the services -Spoke to an actual person on the phone fairly quickly after a few touches of the automated recording. -Kinko's employee was courteous and knowledgable about the steps it would take to make the index cards. -Received a quote. -Had my questions answered regarding the different options I had with printing (color vs. black and white, type of printing paper, etc.) -How to email the designs to the store. 2. Took a trip to the store to further discuss the final product -Saw a sample of the printed index card. -With the store employee, made adjustments for better final product. -Chose type and color of card stock for use. -Confirmed price and time for pickup. (Price was within $5 of quote obtained over the phone. Pick up was for the next day.) 3. Picked up the index cards -Short wait time prior to receiving service. -Confirmed printed cards were of good quality. -Paid. Keep up the good work, FedEx! read more

I called on the way, spoke to a wonderful agent named Sateria, and when I arrived she immediately remembered me and helped me get my boxes labeled and processed. Sent a simple document that needed to be printed. It was two pages that needed to be printed double sided so we could fold it into a program. Picked it up and pages were printed upside down. Called and spoke with the manager who was less than pleasant. She said the reason the document printed wrong is because the file was set up improperly. I said that no it wasn't because it printed on my printer just fine and that anyone that is looking at the document could see that the pages were upside down. This went on and on for about five minutes; she kept interrupting me; finally put someone else on the phone who was an assistant manager and he was basically also unprofessional. This is easily the worst copy shop in Albany. I've been in here 4 or 5 times for printing, copies, photo printing...really basic stuff. And nothing ever works right. The USB doesn't read right, or the computer doesn't have the right print area, or the pages print in wingdings. I don't think I have ever been to this place and had everything just "work". And it's not like I don't understand the technology - my degree is in engineering. I don't usually boycott places, or even write negative reviews, for that matter, but I can tell you I will never go back to this place again. It is that bad. read more

Upon entering with a package affixed with a pre-paid label that was deemed unfit for shipping, I mentioned to the associate that I had never been to FedEx and was unaware of the do's and don't's of FedEx'ing (note to self: don't wrap your box with craft shipping paper!) The package was ripped open and examined in front of me and other customers before I was even offered the opportunity to take it home and repackage it myself according to the necessary guidelines. Only then was I offered a different box for shipping, although I wasn't told about any associated costs. Accordingly I assumed that it was complimentary, and of course I was wrong. It cost $12 for the associate to slowly and begrudgingly repackage my box. I would certainly have done it myself at home if I'd known what an inconvenience I'd be made to feel like, and that I'd be made to pay for it to boot. I will spend the extra money and time to ship from USPS, thanks very much. read more

Bad customer service, and very costly. I tried to have a 300+ document printed. Was a big hassle. Weird. Sign said 49 cents per page, employee quote 11 cents, I said OK do it. Waited and waited. He had to change the paper in the printer. Still waiting. Comes back $40+.....turns out was 13 cents per page. Second copy would be same price. WTF? almost walked out. $40, plus about $5 in spending money on their self serve computer later, I received one copy of my doc. Not even a rubber band to hold it together. Just see ya later, a hole. I grew up professionally with Kinkos and Fed Ex. More than once a last minute overhead prepared by a Kinkos store in Sante Fe or San Francisco or Miami, saved my presentation at a big meeting, and I can't count how many of my research proposals were copied by Kinkos and overnighted to Washington by Fed Ex in time to make a deadline.. Kinkos and Fed Ex opitomized what we'd want American business to be...dependable as Old Faithful. Two days ago, I visited a Fed Ex store (Kinkos doesn't exist anymore) to have a Christmas card copied -- just a postcard style "photo", not exactly a graphic challenge. First, it took 40 minutes to get through the process. At 2 in the afternoon, the place was chaotic. Two staff members were helping customers with cards -- only one knew the software and that staff member didn't know it very well. The image that I provided was poorly fit to the space and although I asked for a gloss finish, I got a matte finish. I asked for a sample print but only got to look at the card on the video monitor. To be sure, when I called to complain, the assistant manager who helped me told me to come back (a 40 mile round trip) and they would reprint the job on gloss. When I arrived, the staff member said that the matte finish I had was actually the "glossy" finish, and she tried printing the card on a different kind of stock that might look glossier. She said that they used to have the kind of glossy paper that I wanted, but they don't have it anymore. To be fair, every staffer that I worked with was friendly, tried to be helpful and behaved professionally. But I got the feeling, as I walked out, that Fed Ex is not putting the effort into Kinkos that will keep it a first rate printing service company. just going to let Kinkos disappear. A pity. read more
