I called several Fedex locations in Chicago looking for a box to ship my guitar. None of the locations had guitar boxes. When I called this location, Ariel said that they didn't have a guitar box, but she would call another store for me to try and find one. She called me back promptly and let me know the the Bucktown location had guitar boxes. She didn't have to do this (none of the other stores did) and definitely went above and beyond to help a customer. Thank you for the great service! read more

I went to this location because my job needed something to be printed and it was the closest location. They have a small parking lot. Upon entering I was not greeted. I was told by a lady to give her a few. A few what?? Then a guy appeared to take care of me. He seemed to either be new or not really trained on computer, office policies. The transaction to complete a work order for a poster took almost 45 mins. He also assisted another customer while waiting on me. There were only 2 reps here. This is based on 5 visits since January. 1. No boxes: It sounds shocking, but there is a 95% they will not have any medium, large or XL Fed Ex express/one rate boxes. On two occasions they told me "our shipments haven't arrived" which I find ironic for a company like FedEx. On 4 out of 5 occasions, I had to drive to the River North location (which is great) for boxes. 2. Long Wait: There is usually a customer who needs something packed or has a problem, so you can expect to wait 5-10 minutes. This location is very under-staffed, so the front desk person has no back-up help. 3. Good Attitude: The employees are ALWAYS polite and try to help, but they are understaffed and without supplies. I feel very bad for them. read more

I came in with 21 different boxes to send out to 21 different people all across the US and to Puerto Rico. That's a big task that requires a lot of patience and I was fortunate to have Tina help me the whole way through. She was kind, patient, and very knowledgeable about her job. What I needed done could have annoyed even the most experienced worker, but Tina handled me with grace and professionalism. I would 10/10 come back to this location based on my experience. read more

I've spent a lot of times at shipping stores and this is the worst. I'd rather go to the post office. The staff is slow and disagreeable and utterly useless. Stay away. Also, they gave me a bunch of crap about "we can't ship in those boxes". The other parcel company had no trouble using my boxes. Looks like these scam artists just want to sell boxes. read more

DO YOU BELIEVE IN MAGIC! Honestly this location is like watching a comedy show but the jokes on me! The one star is for the parking lot. That is the only reason that keeps me coming back here. Now the bad parts. There is never any laminated sheets stocked. The 8 x 11.5 are always empty. The first couple of times I've had to wait over 10 minutes to get sheets. Now I know where they are hidden so I just stock them myself now. I really didn't know I work here but apparently I do. The sad part was the day I went to stock it and they were out of 8 x 11.5 sheets, so I used the legal size which is actually the same price. I decided not to waste and try to use the whole sheet. I then went over and sliced them. The problem now was I made two sheets out of one. The look I got when I said I used only 5 laminated sheets and they were looking at my 10 laminated sheets. So then I had to explain it use to be one sheet but I used the big knife cutting table and made them into two. I then clapped my hands, made smoke appear and said "MAGIC!" Okay I didn't do the last part but I wanted too. Maybe the staff would have clapped or something. Then there was the night I choose a special color paper. It took the girl over 10 minutes of looking through every box. Finally she asked her fellow employee who grabbed it in 3 seconds! Again I yelled, "MAGIC!" No I didn't say it but really it is a theme here. The printers are always broken too. So you have to wait to use the one good printer. Plus the USB cards don't fit properly, so you have to hold it and tip the USB stick up 2 degrees in order for the printer to read your file. This time I wave one hand back and forth and scream, "MAGIC!" Again I should do that but I didn't. In fact, next time I come in here I'm dressing like an Old School Magician with cane, top hat and cape. That will freak them out. So the one day I was printing on the special paper, I asked the girl how do I feed the paper. She looked at me like I was an idiot. Then opened the feeder tray and put my special paper in the feeder. I hit print and it printed on white paper. Wait this really could be Magic or an illusion. So I had to wait over 10 minutes to flag the girl down again to tell her she's the idiot because it didn't print on the special paper. She walked over and left the paper in the tray then she selected some buttons that moved a light to that tray. And yes she was still giving me attitude. She walked away I hit print and it still printed on white paper except this time it was flashing like a paper jam. I needed to try another worker here because it took me over 30 minutes and I still hadn't printed what I needed. The guy told me it was broken and took my USB and printed them behind the counter. Here's a tip: the printers on the other side of the counter are really magic because they actually work. I really could keep going with the crazy stories but why not go here and experience it yourself. Everyone loves a free magic show except the joke is on you. I hope one day I get a laminator because my life will be complete and my trips here will never happen again. (POOF OF SMOKE...and I'm gone) MAGIC!!! read more

Secondly. the staff ALWAYS outnumbers the amount of customers. This makes me happy, I do not like to wait while surrounded by large, scary printers. Thirdly, They sell snacks. I wouldn't be here if work didn't require me to have certain things printed on high res paper or professionally bound. I feel like for all the money you spend here they barely acknowlege or are happy to have the customer loyalty. I got so tired of this placed I started going out of my way to one in the 'burbs closer to my customers office because they are SO much more pleasant to deal with. Kinko's was bad before, but it's even worse now that Fed Ex took over. I have had a FED EX account for a few years. I went to this location to ship a 4 lb box last night, but because I DIDN'T HAVE MY ACCOUNT NUMBER WITH ME, THEY WOULD NOT LOOK IT UP, NOR COULD I BILL IT TO MY ACCOUNT AND GET THE DISCOUNT I EARNED AS A FED EX CUSTOMER. Shame on me for not storing the account number in my phone............ Even with my Driver's License, Business card, etc, the woman said "no - it's for security reasons." I say B u l l s h i t Then why did Fed Ex in Hillside not even BOTHER to ask for my identification, yet looked up my account AND allowed me to ship the box using my Fed Ex acct #? Are they not concerned about security? Or are they just more REASONABLE AND CUSTOMER ORIENTED? I would vote for the latter..... This location is BS and I will not return. I know this is a corporate run business and no one is checking reviews for FedEx so this review probably won't matter, but I wish FedEx would have more employees working at each location. I go here all the time to make copies for work and this location seems to be one of the worst. It seems like they only have 2 people working at all times and one of them is busy in the back while the other tries to manage a line of customers who are all there for services that take 5-15 minutes each. It makes NO sense. You can expect to wait between 15-30 min for anything at this location, even picking up a print job. I've left before being helped several times due to time constraints. read more

Although the staff at this Fedex were all very polite, they really irked me today. I was sending out 3 packages to different places. - as I filling out the shipping information, they wrapped them up so I was unable to tell them apart from each other, or which ones were which.. so they had to unpack them and redo them all.. - I asked how much it would cost to ship the items and they said it depended on item size/weight/destination, (duh.) but didn't even give me an estimate. - they told me the price it would cost to ship one package (which seemed reasonable), THEN after it was all completely wrapped up, decided to tell me that each package was an extra $10. The thing that frustrates me the most is that the first thing I said when I walked in there was I wanted to do it as cheap as possible... you think they would give me options or explain the prices as they chose how to do it so I could say yes or no.. not pack it all then slap a huge price on it. Parking is adequate. The problem is that they usually have several employees working but I always seem to have to wait. They don't greet you when you walk in. They don't notice if you have a prepaid package to drop off. They don't ask either. Sorry, but that is the whole point of a prepaid label and you should not have to stand there and wait to drop it. Employees here need to prioritize. Some training would help too. Lastly, I can't stand when these places just ask you to leave it on the counter, meaning they will scan it to n when they have a chance. Well guess what people? If you do that and the package walks off before they scan it....they will not take responsibility. I have to assume that if you are paying a shipping premium for fedex that you are shipping something important or valuable. Why then would you risk taking their BS advice and just leaving it on the counter? No thanks. I want it scanned and placed somewhere that it can't be grabbed by some dude standing there. 5:15 on a Tuesday evening. Long line of people only one worker. I was on a tight schedule, I paid for 15 copies of my document and only got 3. Once the worker was finally able to help me I got the rest of my copies all in the wrong color and messed up. Nobody around to help me. I had to go. Thanks for ruining my meeting. Just had the WORST experience at this Kinkos. Walked to the counter to get color copies printed from a USB key. Was told by asst manager Brandi K that I should print it myself from the computer area. I asked "ISN"T THAT MORE EXPENSIVE?" Brandi said NO, it's the same price. I asked how much it was, she said it was .15/minute plus the copies. I said I have a lot of copies, so even if I was just saving the .15/minute I would rather have Kinkos print my documents. She then tells me it's a long wait. I said fine, I'll leave the print job and come back. She tell me "No, it will be 15 minutes!!" (Is 15 minutes to get a job done a long time?) I said that's fine, I have a lot of files and I think it will take longer than that, and again I don't mind coming back. Then I asked the unthinkable... How much will this be? She said it is .59/copy, but she can't tell me how many copies it will be. I told her just one copy of each page, could you give me a total please? She rolls her eyes and tell me, No it's just too many files. (for the record, it was 3 files (1) page each and 1 file with 78 pages). While she is shaking her head, rolling her eyes some more and making faces at the computer screen, I ask again -" I'm surprised that printing color copies yourself is cheaper than ordering prints from the counter , how much is it again, .15 a minute for how many copies? "(I use kinkos very regularly for this particular service and was not aware of that). She tells me, "Well it's .99/copy at the computers and it's .59/copy to place an order here" I said "Why did you tell me it was the same price when I just asked you about that, after YOU told me to print them myself?" She said "It is the same, because if you order RUSH from the counter, it costs the same as at the computers - .99/copy" I'm thinking who asked for Rush Service? So again I said " So the price is not the same. One is .59$ and the other is .99$" At this she got visibly annoyed and upset, spoke low and glared at me saying very slowly " I can explain again to you if you don't understand" I smiled and told her that was not nessesary, I understood the words she was saying. What I thinking was though was does she understand simply math? .59$ and .99$ are not the same thing, especially when you are printing a large print job. That would have almost doubled the cost. I dropped the cost issue and the fact that she was now pushing more expensive services on me, and again asked "So could you tell me when I could pick up the job?" She asks me "When do you want it?" (all the answering questions with questions, I was wondering if this was some hidden camera show with rude service) I said I will be happy to come get it when it is ready, could you please tell me how long that will be and may I have an estimate?" She gives me a receipt with 29$ on it. I said "Great, that's not too much so it will be 29 bucks?" She says, no I can't count all these files so I don't know. I said I was not comfortable not having an estimate. She asks me if I'm having a bad day because she does understand why I am being so mean to her. I almost left at this point to go to the North Ave Kinkos, because a half hour has now gone by. I said that no, my day was fine before I came in, and my asking her questions about pricing and when my job would be done is in fact not "being mean to her". I also explained that I didn't appreciate her attitude and wished she would simply submit my order and let me know how much it would cost. She wanted to talk more about our new relationship however. "Look at me, she says, Look, I don't understand why you are being so mean to me?" I let her know that was not the case and I would be happy to contact her Kinkos area supervisor, explain the situation, and maybe they would be happy to discuss with her. After that she snapped at me "I'll count the files now" I thanked her. (Something tells me this individual doesn't understand a lot of things in life, and she may never if she doesn't learn how to interact with people in a professional manner. Understanding requires listening and processing what is being expressed. Maybe this skill set that can be taught, but I'm not sure Brandi has any interest in learning.) We are now approaching the 40 minutes period and another employee hearing her snapping at me comes to help. She walks away and sulks. He looks at the files and within TWO MINUTES tells me "Looks like you have 81 prints at .59 each that should be 47.79$." I said "thank you, how long will that be? " He tells me around noon but he will call me if it's ready before then. The interchange took less than 5 minutes. read more

I HATE coming here. The only reason I ever walk into this place is because it is very close to work and we have an account with FedEx, if it were up to me, I'd never set foot in here again. I always have the ill fortune of coming in when Raylyn is working and she always ends up having to do something with my transaction. She's rude, has an attitude, makes snide remarks, and has a serious problem with being helpful --which I'm pretty sure is kind of the only job she has so you'd think she'd be trained in doing it better. Customer service is DEFINITELY at an all-time low here. The employees stand around and chat and take their time to finish their convo before helping customers. It's just despicable. Need help? Hah! Not a chance. It is an incredibly inconvenience to the workers here to help a customer. You should know how to use all their equipment and if something is wrong it is your fault and a major hassle to fix. I even got a little lecture from Raylyn about my anger. Thanks, but I doubt your psychology degree is in effect. Stay away if you're at all interested in having a decent experience when you visit a retailer. This is a horrible place. I vowed never to use a Kinko's establishment. I have to be honest, any Kinko's experience at any locations has been awful, but this one just happens to be closest to where I live so I have been here the most. While some of their services are nice and convenient, it really seems no one knows what they are doing, and it especially seems that they don't care about you. The shipping department can be helpful if they are having a good day, but the copying and printing department is difficult to deal with. They also overcharge you for using the computers and internet. You can find many more internet cafes throughout Chicago that are considerably cheaper. I hope FedEx whips this place into shape, because I would like to use them if the customer service was better. read more

THE WORSE SERVICE EVER! Avoid this location. I have been there a number of times and it is extremely SHORT staffed. And the managers excuse is that other staff did not who up for work?? One employee working and lines of customers. I waited over an hour today to ship a package along with other customers that were ahead of me. Hillary is pleasant and such a hard worker even though customers get angry and start bitching at her for having to wait so long. Phil the manager that was on duty is cold and uncaring. Very little customer service skills. So if you do not want to wait hours for service get to UPS. Don't complain to Phil for the poor service because he will just make excuses. I would say that the staff was very surpised when I approached a counter. I think they were too busy discussing their personal lives and forgot that they were working.
