Instead of booking individual tours through our cruise ship (we were a group of 19 friends and family), we chartered a bus from First Student, and came up with our own itinerary. We hit Shrine of St. Therese, Mendenhall Glacier and Visitor Center and the Salmon Hatchery! We even booked a whale watching charter, for which First Student wouldve brought us to mid-itinerary, but due to weather, it was cancelled. But no worries...we got to spend more time at our other stops. Katie, our bus driver, was super friendly and shared her knowledge about Juneau along the way. Thought I would have a great experience. Pre-move survey was conducted quickly and professionally by Daniel Dawson. However, they were experience a busy month, and were in the middle of moving a lot of equipment for the University of Alaska SE. On the first day of the move they only sent over 2 guys, but they were hard workers. They packed up almost the entirety of the garage and kitchen, which are apparently the two hardest rooms to pack, single-handedly. I was impressed. The second day there were 4-5 guys there, and they finished the rest of the house save for a few large pieces and furniture. On the last day only 2 guys showed up; really 3, but one left after an hour because he had celebrated his 21st birthday recently and was hungover. It took almost all day to load the boxes because it was just 2 guys working. After they were finished, the trailer sat in front of my house. I thought they'd bring a truck to move it, but I was told it would either leave that night or the following day. The team leader didn't have a padlock, and I was told I couldn't lock the trailer because it had other people's belongings in it, and they had already signed acceptance of my property. Matt, the team leader, said that if they didn't drive it away that night he'd come out and put a padlock on it. When I came back in the morning, the trailer was still sitting in front of my house unsecured. Once I arrived in Eagle River and got my boxes, I couldn't unpack right away because I immediately had to report to my unit. Over the next week and a half as I unpacked, I had the following issues: They packed up my daughter's full klean kanteen (water bottle) in a kitchen box instead of just dumping the water out. It leaked, but luckily it was just plates and silverware in the box. They packed my wife's opened (and didn't bother to zip-close) 2lbs. bag of bathsalts (the kind for bathing, not the drug) into a box of linens, which were then covered with powder when we opened the box. They rolled up a canvas oil painting from WWII Europe like a common poster, and stuffed it into a box of clothing and knick-knacks. It had visible damage when we unrolled it, and will have to go to a restorer. Finally, and most disturbingly, my wife's "electronic massager" went missing. It was a fancy/expensive Lelo brand item, and was not to be found in any of the boxes that were filled with the master bedroom closet items. I do partially fault my wife for not packing it up herself, but the fact that one of the guys (there were no females on the crew) helped himself to it is shocking and disgusting. I know it didn't get left behind because I stayed in Juneau for a week cleaning/prepping the house for sale after they were gone. In closing, if you use this service, especially if you're military; watch them closely. Pack up what you absolutely cannot stand to have broken or get stolen, and check everything thoroughly on the other side. YMMV

Nearly a month later I had heard nothing a reached out a few times for an update. Finally, when I had to be out in under two weeks I called the Anchorage office and was told they could schedule me the week AFTER the house was closing. Finally got that straightened out and the packing team did a fantastic job. Now nearly six months after the fact, I have missing and broken property. I filed a claim the first part of March and was told it would be looked at. The middle of April I was forced to call the Anchorage office for an update on what was going on. I heard from the operations manager in Juneau and was asked for more information. Going on a month later I have not heard a word. I WOULD NOT USE WORLD WIDE MOVERS UNTIL THEY GET SOMEONE COMPETENT IN CHARGE.

These guys do not understand "Logistics" and completely failed me…read more I worked with Tanya to arrange moving 3 pallets of freight from AML Juneau to a storage unit in Juneau. She assured me that they would be able to move my pallets as soon as they arrived on the barge. Several days after the freight had shown up at AML's dock I called to ask if it had been done. From then on, she refused to take my phone calls. I called 6 more times. She was always "just stepped out" or "back tomorrow" and she never ever called back. Ever. Finally Erica, the receptionist, was able to pass along to me the fact that they weren't going to do it, because their truck was broken. (They apparently couldn't figure out how to rent a truck. It's part of logistics.) At no time did they let me know what was happening. I finally hired World Wide Movers. AML meanwhile is charging me a daily rate to store the freight. That charge of $2,800 is more than the shipping and more than the freight is worth. For the amount of the storage fee, I could have flown to Juneau 1st class and rented a truck myself. I know how. They do not understand Logistics, they will not answer your calls and you'll get stuck holding the bill. Beware!
