We are currently talking to Katherine on hold, listening to her tell another employee that my wife…read moremade her so mad she wants to punch her. What did she do to deserve that customer service? My wife asked for an itemized receipt to explain additional newly added costs, they refused, then she asked for a refund, they refused. Katherine got aggravated and demeaning when asked to see my wife's point of view, and they went back and forth. No one yelled and nothing personal or rude was said. Katherine then agreed to a refund, put us on hold and went around the office telling people my wife was mean and screaming (she wasn't). I don't know if Katherine knew she was on speaker phone but we started recording because she was misrepresenting what happened. But then Katherine vented to a co-worker and threatened to punch my wife. We have it on recording in case of legal needs, but you might want to know the employees at this business are this unstable when asked for itemized invoices. I'm sure she made a mistake and was just defensive, but the way she emotionally escalated this was really inappropriate and then threatening. Not sure if they know they still have us on hold but now Katherine is talking to Bob in the background.

Although he didn't have that particular watch in stock, Gregg's love for timepieces and his knowledge of the Hamilton line got me to stick around. Before I knew it, he was showing me other watches in Hamilton's collection that were perfect for me. Normally, I wouldn't pull the trigger on an impulse purchase, preferring to do my research online, but Gregg's passion for Hamilton watches, and his focus on what I wanted out of a watch convinced me to buy. Brought in a 41 year old anniversary grandfather clock for 2 issues. Fix the chimes & to identify a…read moreweight drop clunk. The chimes were fixed to satisfaction. He did not even look at the 2nd issue. After getting the clock home I noticed the #1 had been knocked off the face and super glued back on. Super glue was all over the number and face area. The clock smith admitted he had done the damage. But would not pay to remove the superglue or the face of the clock. He did not disclose the damage he had done at time of pick up. He charged full price for the chime repair and cleaning. I now have a very devalued clock I purchased for our 1st year anniversary. I find the unreported damage and willingness to correct it to be dishonest.

Buyer beware, super shady. I brought two rings in for inspection (insurance mandates). The owner…read moreadvised me that one of them needed work and gave me an estimate of $300 (which I would expect based on the work she stated needed to be done). I approved the work but, as is customary, advised the owner to call me should the estimate increase, which she agreed to. I also left a small pendant that just needed a 5 cent "O" ring which I wanted soldered shut; maybe a $20 job. I was advised she would call me when it was finished but I got no call. I called and was advised by the owner that the pieces were just returned to the shop that day (coincidence). I arrived at Scanlan shortly after the call and there were a number of ladies seated at the owner's desk with her (can't remember her name). She brought out my pieces and told me the total was over $800. I advised her that was not the price we agreed on at which time she asked me to step down to the register (and away from the ladies at her desk) to discuss it. I reminded her that she provided me an estimate and agreed to call me should the estimate change. She ultimately advised me she would charge me $300 for the ring and my grand total somehow ended up being $385.00. I'm no math wiz but $300 X 5% tax is $315 which means she changed me $70.00 for the "O" ring and solder....the whole thing was ridiculous! As far as her "unique" pieces, she told me the first time we talked that she purchases unwanted jewelry from people and resets the stones in her own settings. You never know what you're getting at a shop like this. And it's funny because she bragged to me that she was second generation jeweler. I will not be returning.
