I needed a privacy fence from some nosy neighbors. I contacted Home Depot and I received an appointment right away to have someone from Fence Builders come and measure out the yard and give me a price. The guy was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I decided to get it. They had to cancel once because of rain which they told me they might have to. They ended up coming a few days later and there were 3 or 4 guys. They were working hard out there and the fence looks fantastic. I am so happy with the job they did I might actually get another fence put in to enclose the whole yard. I got 2 sides done for $3200. Highly Recommended these guys. Great job! read more

First let me tell you that I tried to post this review without any stars. So that should tell you up front how I feel. Please do not even consider this company. You will be wasting your time and money. Home Depot should get rid of them immediately. I was contacted by Alex and told him I was looking for a straight 20' run of black chain link fence with one gate in the center. Their price was higher than normal, but I needed the fence as soon as possible so I agreed. I had recently become wheelchair bound, and I needed to section off a small portion of my yard off my deck so that I could let my dogs out myself. Up until now, I had to rely on friends since my yard is not fenced. I always took my dogs out personally. Alex appeared to be very knowledgeable, and personable upon his first visit. He assured me everything would be fine. I questioned not having a pipe along the bottom. My concern was that my dogs could get under it. Alex said not to worry. It was VERY tight so that wouldn't happen. Against my better judgement, I agreed. Two men came to put the fence in in a snow storm. They did not appear happy, but were very pleasant to me. Within a few hours they were gone. I had signed their work order, but could not inspect anything due to my situation. I still did not like that there was no reinforcement along the bottom, so I called the next day to schedule additional work. I e-signed their quote and waited for them to call for payment and an installation. I waited, and waited, and waited. I had already sent a text to Alex to no avail, so after a week of waiting I called and the girl in the office knew nothing about it. She finally figured out that Alex never put the request in but she would take care of it. Again, I agreed and made payment even though now I had to wait 'at least 3 weeks' for an appointment. Due to the snow and being in a wheelchair, I had to wait for a friend to come and inspect the job. Attached is what was found. Used parts. uneven fence line. And I won't even talk about how much concrete was left in pieces all over the area. And only one bag of concrete in each hole. I am sure that will be another issue very soon. Needless to say, I immediately canceled the additional work. Aside from being in a wheelchair, I also live alone. I truly feel this effected their judgement in using what clearly is used parts that have already started to rust. They knew that I could not go outside to check the work the day of the install. The salesman (Derek) was quick to come over and provide a free quote. He also got me scheduled for installation right away, which was fantastic. The day of the install, everything seemed to go great, right up until they put the gate on backwards. I ran right out and told them that it was incorrect, it had to swing out, not in. They said they couldn't fix it because they'd already drilled holes. They would have to provide 2 new posts and a gate. I called my salesman to get some help and he "negotiated" with the crew and got them to agree to make the replacements free of charge in a few weeks (next time they were in my town). I got that in writing. I never heard back so I called the office and then they put me on the schedule. When they came back, they wanted to install it wrong AGAIN!! I was beyond upset! They had only brought new posts, not the gate. I called the salesman.. he said his written confirmation was a "typo" and they never agreed to replace the gate. I now am living with my gate installed correctly but with 12 holes that they filled with caulk. I am very disappointed in the lack of ownership they took with this project. I shouldn't have to put in as much effort as I did to get a very simple install done right. read more

We went through Home Depot to get a fence installed at our home and were introduced to Fence Builders USA. First off, the professionalism of the sales representative, Rob O, was outstanding. Rob O. was extremely diligent, patient and helpful with us from inception through completion. Rob O. never tried to upsell us on product and approached the project as "what is necessary" as opposed to "what all of our customer do". This was great as we felt extremely comfortable with Rob O. and his team. We did run into a couple of issues with permits - entirely unrelated to Fence Builders USA; however, Rob O. remained patient and available to assist to the extent necessary. Upon installation day, Rob O reached out to regarding progress, quality of the fence, and quality of the folks installing the fence. Both my wife and I were very impressed with how involved a sales representative was as this showed us (i) he really cared about the project; and (ii) we were not just a number to his bottom line. The fence took about three days to install and all we can say is WOW! The fence makes the backyard look bigger and brings a different dynamic to the home that was not previously there. For anyone interested in erecting a fence, I highly recommend Fence Builders USA - you will not be disappointed. read more

Fence Builders USA located in Oxford Ct was one of the most positive experiences I have ever had! They came 3 weeks earlier than scheduled date and the 3 workers did above and beyond. This was not an easy fence instal and they took all the time needed to do a superior job. They even carried away all of the brush near the fence and brought it with them. My neighbor was so impressed he wanted to hire them on the spot to fence an area at his business. Don't look any further- you will be so pleased you hired this company for your fencing needs. Most of the new fence we had installed looks great. By the time the men finished the fence installation, it was dark (November 2021), and we couldn't get a good look at it to sign off on the project. However, the next day, we noticed that there are parts that are not level, and slope down, making the fence look poorly installed. The gate is also not installed properly and doesn't open correctly. See the attached photos, however, they don't really capture what I am mentioning. After calling the office three times to get this resolved since December 2021, and sending them the attached photos, we have not heard back from Fence Builders USA. It has been over a month now since our last communication. I am extremely disappointed with FBUSA's lack of customer service after the job was completed. And, for that, I cannot recommend this company. read more

Hmmm, Where do I begin? I begin with, consumer/buyer beware! This company does not care about their customers at all. They throw the fence in take your money and walk away! I've had nothing but problems with the fence, materials, install and the lack of response from anyone to help with regards to the fence issues. Lets start by, the way they cheeped out and only used one bag of concrete for each post. They had to come back and add an additional one, after the fact. (I have a backyard ring cam to support this). The post were literally sinking. Six months later the posts were cracking, the fence pickets have come off the laterals that hold them in place, fence pickets are splitting, the wood is rotting. (Cedar? I think not) they gave me crappy fence pieces. They sent guys out in March and said "we'll be back to fix them, once its warmer out". Never came back!! I've sent multiple pictures of this issue to them (by their request), no one has addressed the issue with me or called me back! I've called and spoken with multiple people, left many messages since April of this year...to no avail. I keep getting brushed off. This company was recommended by Home Depot. I will be writing to them next! (IF) you use this Company, beware! Fence Builders USA does not have good business practices, is not for the consumer ..only for the profit! I cannot recommend this Company!!! Also should mention, they invoiced me for New panels to the tune of $690!! I already spent $3,800! wow!!! Just wow!!! Pictures to follow. read more

I had a fence put up by them in November of 2022. Since then we had some snow some rain and a lot of wind. In April of 2023 the latch came off of my gate. I called them and notified them about it. Within a few days after a heavy windstorm the gate was literally coming off of the post and a lot of the wood was damaged. When I took pictures and told them about it they were astonished and curious how it happened. My only guess is that it was from the wind blowing the gate back and forth being the latch was broken off. And eventually the hinges gave out. When I went and saw the damage and how the gate was coming off of the hinges and the post. I noticed a lot of cracks and splintering of wooden posts. The 4x4s. In may they sent out a construction manager with a worker to do the repair after seeing the photos I showed him what was going on again nobody knows why this would have happened to my gate. I told him about the cracks in the post. He tried telling me that that happens to this wood and eventually all of the posts would look like that. Well the third one holding up the panel of fencing next to the gate didn't have any cracks in it. It looked pretty pristine if you ask me. So I said to him why does that one look so clean without any cracks in it and yet these two are full of cracks. He tried to say eventually that one would get to be the same way. So anyways to make a long story short he only wanted to replace the damaged fencing boards on the gate and not the post. I had to convince him to at least replace one of the posts where the latch was going to connect because it was screwed in near some of those cracks in the wood. So the next day when I was able to go out and look at the work that was done I was hoping everything would be okay. I saw the post that they had replaced was no better than what they pulled out. The post that they put in still had cracks in it and on top of it black mold. So the very next day I called the supervisor and told him I was not satisfied with the work. I told him I wanted him to come and look at the work that was done. So I showed him the cracks in the wood I told him the woods should not look like that if it is new wood. I told him it looks like his company is using poor wood to build these fences because they are buying treated wood where the treatment is not fully dry. Therefore they're putting up fence posts with cracks in them. There were also lots of knots. I asked the supervisor if I can go to home Depot and pick out the wood myself to be used for my fence posts. He told me they don't even get their wood from there because supposedly their wood is worse than this. All I can say is it looks like this company does not know what kind of wood they are getting in their shipments and they are putting up these fences with terrible wood and charging a lot. I can't say I would recommend this company to anybody else like the other review that is listed here on yelp. They use poor quality lumber to put up the fences and charge you quite a bit of money for it. read more

They are a hit-and-run company, like others have mentioned. They are quick to take your money, and they are friendly until they have it. The moment they do, everything changes! They missed the scheduled installation window. When I called to inquire about the whereabouts of the crew, nobody had any answers. They were rude, unprofessional, and dismissive. The girl who answered the call actually laughed at me on the phone when I told her I expected an update by a certain time one way or the other. I learned that they knew they weren't going to be coming during the promised window because they didn't finish their job from the day before, and they had to return there for another half-day's work. They could have had the common courtesy and decency to let me know the night before so that I would not miss the morning at work unnecessarily; and, I, too could adjust and be home for the second half of the day instead of the morning. They have ZERO respect for the customer's time, and don't value them. All they care about is their own bottom line. I even reached out to the owner (the contact name I was given on the contract in case I encountered difficulties). He didn't even bother to return my call or my email. So, that's how much he cares about his clients. I strongly urge against hiring this company (who I hired through Home Depot--their local installer). read more

Fence Builders USA incorrectly installed my vinyl fence. 2 years later, it is completely falling apart. Vinyl fences are supposed to last 20-30 years, not 2. They are now charging us to fix it, even though it was their mistake to begin with. I have never seen a vinyl fence fall apart like ours is. Do not hire this company I could not be more disappointed and upset. read more

They did a great job putting in a beautiful 5' vinyl fence around our backyard. Nice crew, came and knocked it out in one day. Very pleasant to deal with, came on time, no worries, and they took the old fence away too. read more
