After calling Roman and providing details to him about the project, he was able to give me a fair priced quote via a few text messages containing site photos and design pictures. I agreed with his price and we scheduled a day the following for him to begin the work. On the day of the project, his crew ran a bit late as they were working on a gate that required more time than they thought. Nevertheless, they still made it to my home and began the two half days of work. Overall, Roman and his crew did a great job building two separate fences at my home. The first fence was built using redwood from Berco Redwood and was for the side and front of the house to hold the waste containers as well as a small dog run. The second fence he and his team built was smaller and constructed of cedar and used to hide pool equipment and for a bit of modern aesthetic purposes. During the project, there were a couple hiccups while we figured out small details about angles of the fencing and overall length. Roman and his team were respectful and adapted the design to my changes and demands. This was difficult to do as there were already posts installed into the ground. However, he was able to work it out and everything went well. For a small fee, he even fixed my backyard fence that was damaged and wasn't on our quote. I'm very particular about how things should be designed and built and Roman recognized this and was able to build exactly what I was looking for. His crew works hard and has all the right equipment to do the job. There was some jackhammering that needed to happen because of some existing concrete, and his crew took care of that with ease. Roman responded to my request promptly and *added benefit* he has an assistant Shyanne who answers texts right away and can come out and take pics and help work on a quote. It was only 8 days between my initial call to installation! Roman did a great job installing a new gate + trellis. I really appreciated that he conferred with me several times through the process to ensure the design and installation was what I wanted. He worked hard to make sure his work met my expectations and the picture I had in my head! Everything turned out pretty close to perfect and we are beyond pleased with the result. We did encounter a glitch - we had a special lock for the gate that we wanted him to use instead of the simple typical gate latch, which Roman assigned to one of his crew members. Unfortunately, this was not installed correctly, and the worker threw away half of the parts. Luckily, Roman was able to find every single little piece of the lock in his trash bag in the back of his truck and spent another hour or so reinstalling the lock properly. We really appreciated his willingness to leave us 100% happy with his work. I have attempted to get a portion of my split rail fence repaired for quite awhile. The fence needed several new posts, post holes dug, concrete, etc but it was considered a small job. It was just too small for the big fencing companies to deal with. (For them to do the work, I would have needed to increase the scope to their minimum and book out weeks in advance). With Roman, in just a few days from our first contact, he had provided a quote, purchased the materials, and done a professional repair of the fence. I'm very happy I went with Roman for my gate/fence work. I very badly needed a new side gate. I let it go for so long that it was dragging and a pain every time I needed to open and close it, and it was also very ugly. I think I thought it would be a very easy thing to schedule, but I actually tried a couple other avenues before reaching out to fence companies here on yelp (Facebook marketplace and handymen). None of the other avenues worked out. I was then disappointed to learn that some fence companies have $1500+ minimums. But finally, I found Roman and Fences with Value.
