I am Chinese and this is the best Chinese food I had in western countries. The service is amazing too!

This is a place I discovered online accidentally. It appealed instantly and I decided we HAD to go here. Feng Shang Princess is not a restaurant you will just pass by and say, 'hey, let's go grab a quick bite here. I am starving.' It's a place you would reserve for date night or a special occasion. So it's no surprise that on the deck we were seated, every table except ours had a birthday!! Feng Shang met all my expectations and more! I was went for the canal side experience, but was mind blown by the soul stirring food! Don't go here if you are trying to newly build an impression with a date; it will be a battle between looking prim and wanting to lick your plate clean. You will drown in the delicious and huge portions of gorgeous Asian food. For starters we had the chicken gyoza and prawns in wasabi. For mains it was chicken in mango and chilly paste, and the crispy duck with plum sauce and pancakes. Portion sizes are quite enormous! Skip a meal before your visit! Gyoza are usual dumplings. The prawns are lip smacking and would go here again just for the prawns. The chicken in mango-chilli sauce has drama with the sweet and spicy; can skip. Duck - excellent with large portions. The dessert menu can do with some fixing; lots of choice but not as impressive as the food menu. Also, no single malts of the list; just blends! Ambience is amazing and warm; albeit too cosy in terms of table arrangements. Then again, it's a boat! As soon as you enter, it's like a flight from London into the lap of Asia. This is a hidden treasure and should be kept that way! Three suggestions - 1) seat large groups in a separate area (I wish all restaurants could do this!). Especially as this is a fabulous date night venue. So can do without the banter boom boxes! 2) Play music. 3) Some of the staff can take a lesson or two in being warm and friendly. Lovely location which I'm sure would be much nicer when the sun is out! Our waiter was really professional overall and went the extra mile of helping the older ladies in our group put their coats on. Starters were overall good but I've had better. We did not enjoy the mains at all as they barely had sauce. Portion sizes were quite tiny too. A nice place to visit for the experience. read more

Beautiful restaurant (not really floating!) at a lovely location. But not much of a view once inside at night. Delicious food, well presented, but quite small portions, so pricey. Service good, unobtrusive and pleasant. Asked if suitable for our tastes. Indeed, it was. If you want the proper Peking Duck you have to order 24 hours in advance and comes with a hefty £65 price tag! I think I will wait till I am in the Far East :-) We had the usual aromatic duck to start with, which came with pancakes kept warm in bamboo baskets and were warm, so still soft, unlike other restaurants. What they excel in is the main dishes. We had prawns in sweet chilli sauce, ribeye beef with black bean sauce, sea bass fillet steamed with ginger and onions, aubergine and bean curd in a clay hot pot, and a vegetable dish of asparagus, lotus stems, sweet peas and carrots. All beautifully presented and tasted divine. Shame it was like a taster, as the portions are quite small. We followed this with lychees and banana fritters with vanilla ice cream. I'M ON A BOAT. Okay T-Pain/Lonely Island references aside, this was a great little Chinese restaurant that's literally a traditional Chinese boat that's floating on the outskirts of Regent's Park. Random right? But pretty damn cool especially when you come here at night and the whole thing lights up. We had the Peking duck, sweet and sour pork, seafood fried rice, and something else I can't remember. The Peking duck was definitely the highlight of the night and was decimated in a matter of moments. Service was good. You'll notice the place is slightly tilted but whatcha expect? You're ON A BOAT. Oh and they gave us this horse (hippo?) tea cup at the end as a souvenir. How awesome is that. I'll be back to take my visiting friends to a unique Chinese dining experience. read more

I have always wanted to go here since I have run by it several dozen times. The setting is really very cool, right on the canal. If you sit by a window, the ambiance is pretty cool. I also really liked the food, not too greasy, not intimidatingly authentic. It hits a nice balance. Why 3 stars? Well, I am a fairly olfactory sentsitic even person and it just didn't smell that great inside the restaurant. For that reason alone, I probably wouldn't go back. read more

Eating on a boat in the canals of North London is fun. But it's the food that did it for us. Very very good Chinese food at a beet reasonable price. The service has been great both times we went. This will be our lunch spot whenever we go to the zoo. read more

A good Chinese restaurant located on the canal toward the eastern end of Prince Albert Road. Serves a significant variety of Chinese as well as some other south east Asian dishes. There is a substantial choice and the food is usually prepared up to a high standard. I particularly enjoy their Mongolian style chicken and prawns, which I haven't seen anywhere else in London. Although one can't help but wonder what could seafood possibly have to do with Mongolia The amount of space inside is quiet limited though, and the tables are placed fairly close to one another. It can also get very loud, especially on Friday and Saturday nights and they often hold large parties and celebrations in the same rooms with other customers. Apart from that, pretty good. read more

Amazing place but difficult address to find. I just ask the taxi driver to take me to the Chinese boat near London Zoo. Food is fantastic. I like crispy duck roll and wasabi prawns. Seafood fish and prawns are very fresh and tasty. Spicy juice dumpling is really good. Dont miss it. For some reason, they serve very good Irish coffee too! One night my husband said "let's go to the Chinese restaurant on a boat!" As if I knew exactly what he was talking about. Nope. So we wandered over to this little gem and lo and behold this is a Chinese restaurant boat. For reals. Now, they could say "hey man, this is a boat and therefore we are expensive"- they've even got fancy white tablecloths! But that's not the case. This place is reasonably price and has beautifully presented food. We ordered the vegetarian lettuce wraps, sweet and spicy prawns, and shanghai seafood noodles. The lettuce wraps were pretty alright, and the prawns were juicy and big, and the noodles were well flavoured. Also I swear there was little bits of beef in them but didn't realise until the end (how did I not realise idk, but its true... maybe my taste buds are idiots). Oh well! The place was cool, and the food was nicely done but not out of this world. It's a cool experience for sure. read more

I came here with a group of friends yesterday on the suggestion of one of them who lives in the area and had always wanted to check it out. I have seen it on a few occasions when walking around Regent's Park and the zoo, and I admit it's a unique restaurant proposition in London, though the concept is not entirely novel. In any case, there was no problem getting a reservation for 5 of us, and besides the handful of other diners in the restaurant, it was rather quiet on a Wednesday evening. They had an entire lower deck that is also for dining that didn't even have the lights on. We had a view that looked out onto the canal and some houseboats, and on a summer evening it was still light outside for most of our meal, and we got to see the sunset. As for the food, I shared a number of plates with two friends. To start, we got the Szechuan pork dumplings in chili oil, which were 4 normal potsticker dumplings, and after serving it they asked if we wanted chili oil, which was later brought as a dipping condiment. It wasn't really like I imagined (I could ask for chili oil with any dish, couldn't I? It's really just dumplings then.) They were decent dumplings, at least, but nearly £2 apiece. We then ordered the stir fried sirloin beef with black bean sauce and stir fry roasted duck with pineapple and ginger. The beef was average, though the cut wasn't particularly great, but the duck was awful and it must have been the sauce that completely ruined the dish because I normally love duck. Finally we got the young chow special fried rice and the stir fried noodle with mushrooms and Chinese chives. The noodles were actually my favourite dish, and the fried rice was also tasty. Overall I think it's an ok restaurant, but I wouldn't come here with high expectations for the food. I'm not sure how much it costs to run a restaurant on a boat, but the place could probably do with a refresh to draw in new customers! read more

I was concerned that it would be a bit gimmicky but decided to try it - so glad we did! The wonton soup was fantastic and the crispy duck was INCREDIBLE - the half portion was enormous and we ate every bite. The Chinese food here is outstanding, but I should hope so as I was bankrupt by the end of the evening, but to be fair we did eat and drink a lot! The décor was lovely, didn't feel like I was on a boat though. It would have been nice if it was busier, so the evening could be prolonged, as the service was quite quick. I was so excited to go here because it's a boat! In beautiful Regent's Park to boot! But I didn't leave as thrilled. I will say, the ambiance is nice. Though the tables are quite close to each other (more on that....). Romantic enough with candles on the table and definitely something different, which is nice. But my hubs ordered the broccoli beef and I the stir fry chicken in chili basil sauce, along with egg fried rice for me, special fried rice for him. The dishes were....bland. I usually expect some level of greasiness with Chinese and this didn't have it and we were....um, sad! Like, the taste just didn't compute. It felt too light and very very light on the spice. No standout flavor - which is a huge bummer considering this is more expensive than your standard Chinese restaurant. I was also clearly distracted by the hott mess table sittng by us of obvious bachelor guys who were hitting on the girl who walked in, when she was clearly with her boyfriend. So much for using your inside voice, I heard every one of their douchey convos,lol. Ok, but back to the restaurant.......But the main thing that turned us off? For a pricey meal, the dishware was.....PLASTIC! Is it so wrong to want china in a Chinese restaurant?
