Fennelly has a reputation for diagnosing patients quickly and liberally. Fennelly hands out diagnoses like he's handing out candy. Fennelly also tends to prescribe the same medications over and over again. Based on this, there is a high likelihood that he's profiting from pharmaceutical companies by pushing specific drugs, so be mindful of this. If he suggests a medication that makes you uncomfortable, tell him no. Fennelly also has a habit of condescending and shaming the patient, which is a dangerous environment for seeking treatment. He should unwaveringly be of the mindset that there is nothing you did to "deserve" or "cause" your mental illness, and there is nothing shameful about being mentally ill or seeking treatment. Still, Fennelly historically makes the patient feel bad about their condition. His lack of humility is dangerous because he believes he does not make mistakes. Yes, he has an advanced degree, but this does not mean that he is all-knowing and all-powerful. If you do decide to see this doctor, do not be afraid to get a second opinion. read more

After a LONG search for a psychiatrist for my one daughter we found Dr. Fennelly. I met him initially and was pretty happy with what he said. However as time wore on and the bills kept on coming (he accepts no insurance - shortest visit will set you back $165.00), and my daughter didn't seem to benefit from the therapy I was not impressed any longer, though I did tell her to give it more time and follow what he recommended since he was the professional. My daughter ended up on 2 powerful prescriptions that was making her a zombie. When prescribed Depakote I asked for the generic, he wrote it for Depakote anyway at $108.00 per month! It took my pharmacist numerous calls for him to change to generic $20.00 per month. He was stating that the generic wasn't as good - yet the pharmacist insisted that it was. That did not bode ethically well with me. Then he added Prozac to the miix. My daughter came home from a few visits with some disturbing comments he was making about myself and her father. He only spoke to me briefly and never met her father yet said things that were out-of-school and not related to her issues my opinion. Long story short - I do not recommend him. I think he is a pill pusher and more interested in getting paid (immediately) than in the patient. When my daughter told him that she no longer wanted to use the meds (which she and I discussed and I told her it was her choice) he berated her and myself stating that I wasn't a good parent for agreeing. Not only was she not feeling well but her hair was falling out in clumps almost as bad as a chemotherapy patient. It took the pharmacist to recommend Biotin to help. Dr. Fennelley was totally uncaring and disparaging when my daughter asked it these meds caused the hair loss. You are treating someone with a fragile self-image and anxiety and when her hair is falling out in clumps you brush (no pun intended)her off as what is the big deal. It is a BIG deal to anyone!!!!! Empathy would have been much more effective. I never had much faith in psychiatrists and the like, but wanted to do what was best for my child. In the end my feelings proved right. The only person that can truly help someone is the person themselves, IF they want to get better.. This is just wasted time and lots of money. My daughter is working hard to make it a go on her own. The Good He gets 5 stars because he gets results and because he got me well when no other Dr could. He has never been wrong. The Bad Even though he fixed me, I would have liked to have had things explained to me more slowly. I feel like at first he forgot I don't know all the info sometimes and it can be a bit much to keep up. When it comes to empathy he could use another semester at charm school. I wanted to change my meds a few times and he made me space out the changes longer than I would prefer. Sum Up If you want to get fixed go to him. I had the audacity of disagreeing with his evaluation of my son so he makes sure his evaluation to the school makes it seem that my son has a medical need for treatment ($$$$ in his pocket) and that his parents are standing in his way of getting better. Don't fall for his smile when speaking to you because he is a snake in the grass that will screw you over if you don't kiss the ring. He's pompous and thinks that only his "medical" training can help. He gained this knowledge by speaking to my son for 30 minutes yet thinks he knows him better than his parents. If the school recommends you go to him, go elsewhere and get an unbiased opinion. read more

Our child had the unfortunate experience of being evaluated by Bryan. He came into the process with a pre-conceived notion about both our child, and us as parents. He is a terrible listener, constantly interrupted both parents, and made certain assumptions based on either his limited or incorrect understanding of the situation. Asked a question, then interrupted the answer because it "wasn't helpful" or because he had another "very important" question to ask. During a telephone call -- that he initiated -- he told me repeatedly that I was wasting his time, and then spent five solid minutes in a soliloquy about himself and his impressions of me as a person and as a parent despite the fact that we never met and had only spoken a few minutes before he unloaded his thoughts. I have never experienced such a rude, unprofessional, and self-centered person in my life. Do yourself a favor, and run in the opposite direction. read more

My daughter saw Dr. Fennelly about 8 years ago. At the time, I had no experience with psychiatric disorders or medication, so I followed the regiment he prescribed for her. I wanted her to get help with her OCD and so I put complete trust in him and followed everything he said and gave her every thing he prescribed. . He over medicated her and created a manic personality. I kept saying, " This is not my daughter." He found that amusing. When questioned, his response was to add more drugs to her regime. I finally had the courage to leave his practice and fine some one else. He ruined her high school years by experimenting with different combinations of various drugs. We found an excellent Doctor who first took her off of all his medication and treated her appropriately. She is now doing very well.
