I was emphatic with my mother to not get these cats because the day would come soon that they would not be able to take care of them, this shelter should have NEVER allowed my parents to adopt because of their age and their health but Grosse Pointe Animal Adoption thought it was a good idea. The cats have suffered neglect under my mother's care for at least a year as my mother's health was failing and now 4 years later my stepfather is dead and my mother is not able to take care of herself anymore let alone two cats and Grosse Pointe Anima Adoption refuses to take them back saying they are full, and they are saying they might have room in 2 months. I CAN'T KEEP THESE CATS but they don't care, it's not their problem anymore. They don't really give a damn at all about getting these cats good home all they care is getting these animals out of their care and then they will wash their hands of it. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL

I had no experience at all with any pet having babies. It became overwhelming with Kitty's anxiety. My stress level was steadily climbing as I started losing sleep. This wasn't good for my many health issues. It was too heavy of a load. I gave MACS a call around 9:30 in the morning. At 10:30, they were taking the family indoors. I couldn't believe how extremely kind, understanding and comforting they were. From the call that I made to getting everyone in their hands, it was all done in a loving and caring manner. I truly appreciated everything. My plan was to rehome the kittens after 8 weeks. My daughter and I were constantly researching what to do and how. We couldn't do it as planned with Kitty's now anxiety. So we very blessed that MACS was there. From my phone call to intake, the experience was nothing but excellent. I even called to follow up the next day. I love what they have to offer. I am confident that they all will be placed in loving families. I highly recommend them. Again, well worth the wait. They are accommodating, fair, and compassionate. I love the parking lot which is rare in Birmingham. The walk to the door is a few feet from your car. It's quiet inside (unless there is another verbal kitty patient). The techs and doctor sit on the cat's level (the floor). They really make them feel comfortable. More than one pet parent can be in the room which is important to us. You can even hold your kitty and take them back to get blood drawn or nails clipped. We never feel rushed or like a number here. At the time, I was told that there was nothing more that could be done beyond managing his condition with long-term medication. I later discovered that the clinic's medication prices were substantially higher than what I could obtain through Chewy, so I began filling his prescriptions there instead. The clinic approved several prescription refills, but then informed me that they would no longer authorize refills without additional blood work. I recently paid approximately $200 for an office visit, during which the veterinarian stated that my dog was retaining fluid. Despite this, my dog's Lasix dosage was reduced. This was confusing to me, especially given the seriousness of his condition. I have also experienced concerns regarding pricing. For example, I was charged $35 for a body spray that can be purchased online for $19.99. When I asked about returning it, I was told there was a strict no-return policy, although I did not see that policy clearly stated on my receipt. Beyond the financial concerns, I feel that customer service has deteriorated. I found my interactions with management to be rude, dismissive, and overly focused on generating revenue rather than prioritizing patient care and client concerns. After being a client for many years, I am deeply disappointed by my recent experiences and no longer feel confident recommending this clinic. I've also noticed that since 2019 there do not appear to be any African American employees working at this facility, whereas before 2019 there were several. I'm not claiming to know the reasons for this change, but I do believe consumers have the right to consider a company's hiring practices and workforce representation when deciding where to spend their money. She told me how Dr. Golombek handled her bird with total confidence and provided incredible care. When I got my cockatiel Stanley, I knew exactly where I wanted to take him. We saw Dr. Golombek, and Stanley--who gets very anxious at the vet--started having a bit of a panic moment. Dr. Golombek never rushed him. She waited patiently until Stanley felt comfortable before continuing, and for future visits recommended midazolam to help keep the experience calm and stress-free. The care, patience, and confidence Dr. Golombek showed was incredible. I truly wouldn't trust Stanley with anyone else. I recently got a kitten, and there was absolutely no debate about where she was going--straight to Berkley Animal Clinic. Our dog currently goes to another vet, but after these experiences, we're seriously considering switching him over too. I can't recommend Berkley Animal Clinic and Dr. Golombek enough.
