Anyway, this was the second one they attended in the area and I was in love with the smaller class size, gentle communication methods, tidiness, long term staff who truly love these kids. The owners are Christian and have infused teachings into the curriculum, which I love, but it is a respectful place that would not be uncomfortable for those who are not Christian as some of the families to bring their wee ones here are not. The school is divided into three classrooms - youngest kids (age 2) are in the Pollywog room, middle room is the Panda room and the think it is a big deal to move from Pollywogs to Pandas (which happens about age 3 and potty trained and they do potty train in partnership with parents in the Pollywog room) and oldest kids are in the Sunshine room and stay there until they launch out to kindergarten. I've had kids in every classroom now and we love it there; my daughter just turned 4 but fortunately with a late December birthday still has 2 more years at Play & Learn.

The Cutten school district is small, most of the teachers and staff know each other pretty well. The principal is both the superintendent of Cutten Middle School and Ridgewood Elementary. Overall, this school is set in a nice location near the forest so students once in awhile go exploring. I have yet to go visit again.

As a local I really enjoy shopping at the Humboldt Hometown Store. I Love that it's the old bank (…read moreearly 1900's), still has the original teller windows & bank fault! Fun fact: Guy Fieri owns the building and you can even buy autographed Guy merch there. What I truly like about this shop, It's a great place to buy locally made, unique affordable items. The variety of hand-crafted things to buy is amazing, I can truly gift shop for my whole family in one spot! There's also a great selection of locally made food items, one my favorite tea blends (wildn'wise) is at Humboldt Hometown store. We recently tried The new Escape Room while our friends were visiting. Everyone (4 adults, 3 teens) had a blast trying to escape, we made it out with 2mins to spare! I definitely recommend checking this place out if your just visiting Ferndale, for unique one of a kind items or a totally fun indoor experience! :)

I was impressed how colorful the garden appeared, It looked like a blanket of colors from the Heather and Lavendar gardens. Some other gardens were the native plant garden and rose garden. I always love rose gardens, here I'd say it was distinct in that many roses were much larger in circumference. While it's a botanical garden it also has an arboretum feel because of its many trails into the forest. You could walk all the way out to a labyrinth. I think their brochure could have done a better job with listing the trails. Some smaller trails weren't on there and it was a little confusing.
