I decided not to go back because of their discourteous treatment and high fee. I went to a long-established CPA for 2018 who immediately saw errors in my previous return. I had overpaid my tax for 2017 by almost $900. He filed an amended return and his fee for both returns was less than the fee for the SFS 2017 return prepared by an enrolled agent.

We continue to accrue penalties and interest on a 2018 tax filing because of their complete failure to do their job properly. The IRS has clear proof that we, as the client, signed and submitted our taxes in February 2019--yet Carlos and his team did not bother filing them until June 2019. That delay is entirely on them, and we are the ones paying the price. This has resulted in serious financial setbacks and an enormous waste of our time trying to fix a problem that should have never existed in the first place. Even worse, when we brought this to Carlos's attention, he was dismissive, unhelpful, and showed zero accountability. Instead of correcting his mistake, he had the audacity to try to charge us $500 just to "look into it." This is not just poor service--it is blatant negligence and a complete lack of professionalism.
