This campsite is a f****** disgrace. After many years of coming here I have noticed the slow deterioration of the place. The advertised "TV Room" hasn't had a working TV in it for about 5 years. The "Games Room" has a single football table, which is completely broken. The Rec room and TV room leak whenever there is rain for longer than 10 minutes. The two gates leading down to the walkway along the sea have been taken away, or nailed shut, as if to discourage people from walking down to one of the only perks about the place. The advertised Wifi isn't even worth trying to connect to, it is so slow it may as well not even be there. Sometimes if you need to connect up to the electricity you may have to share, which isn't too much of a problem, until you find out that 2 people cant boil their kettles at once, because if they do the electricity trips. The toilets are hardly ever cleaned, and always smell badly. Most of the plugs in the bathrooms don't work, which is a bit of a pain if you need to shave or charge other bathroom related gear. All the tent pitches are absolutely shite, you either get to park on a horrendously uneven strip of grass overlooking the sea, or in a waterlogged patch under the trees that usually smells like sewerage. The advertised "Campers kitchen" consists of 4 hobs, a sink and a kettle. An actual oven or even a microwave wouldn't go amiss. Even a toaster would be a sound investment. All the chairs in the Rec room are broken. The freezer in the laundry room is too small. The place is just generally mediocre, and really all it needs is a bit of TLC, ever since the swimming pool took it over, the place has been run down into the ground. When Danny Forde was the man in charge the place just had a better buzz about it, it had a much better atmosphere. This site isn't exactly the worst, it has a few things going for it, like the fact that it is in close proximity to the town, the ferry, and a few beaches. Actually, now that I think about it, really the only thing this campsite going for it is the surrounding area. If the town wasn't there, I know for a fact that I would not be coming back every year. The additional 2 euro for a shower really breaks my balls, especially considering that you are already paying 30 odd quid to use the so called facilities. One of the tips I would have for this campsite, would be to actually try and look after the place, maybe yous should do that by having a look at all the crappy reviews yous have gotten on all these sites, and fixing the things that people are complaining about. read more
