I spoke to another Dr. there after my cat passed away and he said it sounded like a bad bladder infection but I should have autopsied my cat to find out for sure. Nobody else there told me I could do that for my cat but it was too late. Another time approx 6 yrs ago I brought my Pomeranian in for a limp that was not going away. Dr. Bahn said the patella was in definite need of surgery and it would be better to do it now than wait until he was older when it would be worse. Well almost 6 yrs later he still has no limp at all and the limp resolved itself after a couple months or so yrs. ago! There have been other very expensive not to mention painful procedures suggested for other pets there as well and I have to wonder if they were deserved also! Although I have had a couple excellent doctors there, the door is constantly revolving and you get who they choose for you and it brings in even more confusion for proper medications, diagnosis and care because they often interchange for one patient, even for the same visit and often without knowing the full history of the pet. Mind you though, the staff is very pleasant, polite and helpful and fairly quick to give an appointment if needed. I have had other people wonder if they even change their accessories for blood taking, etc. because of infections at the injections site after testing and other developing issues. I was warned to change vetrinarians by others or remain at my own risk. I wished I would have listened sooner. Unfortunately the long delay for a proper diagnosis for my cat definitely cost him his life! I hope it may help someone make a better choice in an important situation because it may be the last decision for your pet you could make for it.

PLEASE READ THIS My 3.5 yr old dog died Christmas day (2018) She was sweet, loving, healthy and…read moreactive. She had her yearly vaccination shot Nov 22 of that yr. She was fine until Dec 22, then I noticed blood in her urine and she became lethargic. Rushed to the OVC in Guelph, Immune mediated hemolytic anemia, She went through a barrage of tests, there was no cancer, no tumors, no infections or toxins in her body. The only possible cause of this disease was her vaccination. The experts at OVC agreed. They did everything they could to try and save her, 3 blood transfusions and powerful drugs, nothing could save her. The reason I am telling you this is because her death should never of happened. If your pet has already had their puppy shots they may be already immune for life. Believe me I did the research on this. There is something called a titer test (pronounced tighter), a simple blood test that can tell you how much immunity your dog still has in their system. I knew nothing about this before. Holistic vets recommend no shots after the puppy shots or at the most every 3 yrs. My dog didn't need this booster because she was already immune, so this shot sent her immune system into hyper drive, started attacking her own red blood cells. She lasted a month before I could tell something was wrong. She was the most wonderful dog ever. It is heartbreaking. Please research IMHA or AIHA, because it is proven, vaccines can cause this. Sometimes money becomes more important to people than other things and vaccines are a huge money maker for vets. Titer tests don't cost as much as a vaccine. If your vet won't do a titer or says you don't need one, go somewhere else. I am not blaming my vet, I am blaming all vets who give yearly shots with no regard to what can happen. Please do the research. For your own peace of mind. You don't want to go through the agony and grief I have been going through. Her name was "Liberty" and she was the sweetest. Love you girl.

Our issue with Eastside started a few days ago when we took our current cat to get her nails trimmed, her first time in for that service. The work was done, the animal was returned to us and lady who did the work informed us that she had noticed on our file that this cat was not up to date with her rabies shot and because of that we would not be able to bring her back for future services until that had been updated. The fee for this shot is apparently over $200 with the tax as the vet has to "examine" her before a shot can be administered so that exam fee inflates the cost. We had this same cat in for treatment twice within the prior 6 weeks and this had never been mentioned and had not prevented her treatment so we asked why the change in policy. She advised us that "its the law". The City of Hamilton Ontario had passed a by-law some 6 years ago requiring rabies shots for all domestic pets, even indoor cats like ours. So we asked why this is now an issue given our recent history. The answer (from the front desk person on duty) was that they had only started enforcing that by-law about 2 1/2 months ago. But remember we had been there after that and nothing was said. So very upsetting and very poor customer service. I'm sure the information could have been delivered differently given our long history with this clinic. We will of course be looking for another clinic to look after our pet. My sense is that the people in charge will not really care about the loss of our business or our dissapointment with how it all ended. This is a very large corporation and individual complaints will not affect their bottom line.
