The IRS wanted $1300 in late fees and interest. When I contacted the Mellon crew, they were extremely cavalier about my problem when explained the issue and said I could drop off the paper from the IRS and they would look it over. A week later they called and told me they had calculated wrong and would pay the interest and late fee only. They were quick to inform me that accidents happen.......LESSON........Don't trust your taxes to just anyone. go to a professional CPA who knows what their doing. Every time i was in Mellon I had the feeling that 1..That 80% of the staff really belonged in a nursing home. 2... The other 20% belonged in middle school.3 ...Most of them were crowded on the back steps smoking cigarettes. Mellon was my wife's bright idea. Bad idea. DON'T MAKE THE MISTAKE WE DID!!!

Big Mistake! Although they were very busy, we turned in our documents including prior year return at the end of March. We finally got a call on April 15th in the afternoon that our taxes were completed and ready to pick up. Bottom line....The returns we picked up and paid for were not the returns that were filed!! About a month and a half later received a notice from IRS that we owed additional taxes, penalty and interest! Went back to Streeter Tax Service pissed but trying to be understanding that mistakes happen and to pick up correct tax returns and sign the appeal form. The tax preparer wasn't the owner and would not/could not provide proper resolution at the time ( Refund of my tax preparation fee) Requested a call from Michael Streeter (owner) for response to the error and to make it right. NEVER HEARD FROM HIM. Crickets! We still have not heard back from him! She (the tax preparer) offered to do our taxes for free this year, however due to the incompetence and lack of follow up from the owner, I declined. She did ask for the incorrect copies to use as a training example for her team which I agreed to. Extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with the entire experience. I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy! Still Pissed!
