The receptionist was very nice and explained how there was a 70% chance of success, but she also warned me there was no guarantee. I liked her honesty. Ken came over and spent a full hour, using an extraction process with powerful truck-mounted hoses. The result was not known until the following morning. The stains were improved, but not gone. I called Refresh and they were very happy to dispatch Ken for a second (free) visit. This time he did not use the hoses, but patiently applied and reapplied a solution, each time using an absorbent cloth to lift the moisture. It worked! The aggressive grease stains are entirely gone. Refresh is a very professional, honest company. Ken is amazing! He is knowledgeable, competent, and friendly. I am going to have Ken come back on a regular basis to clean my carpets. This was my first time to have any furniture reupholstered so I was going blind with any company I chose. I opted to reupholster vs buy new because I couldn't find the same ottoman style and those available for sale were about the same price or much more expensive than reupholstering, plus saving the landfill. Emmanuel at Canada Upholstery was quick to respond from my first call. Other companies weren't as prompt, with much higher estimates. He helped me find a high-end replacement faux leather, which was less expensive than if I'd gone with leather and much more durable. His timeline was 3 weeks from start to finish, and he delivered on time. The ottomans turned out way better than I expected. I'm very pleased with the work they've done. Also, Emmanuel kept his cost the same even though he had to do more work, like double stitching and replacing the inside fabric. Just note, the shop is not fancy, so don't expect a showroom. You also can't just drop by, make sure someone is at the shop. Your choice of fabric can take a week or so to arrive in their shop. Their location in East Vancouver (where I live) made it convenient for me to handle dropping off/picking up my ottomans, but they may have a pick up/delivery service for large items.

One of the cushions was sitting much lower and under an angle making it very uncomfortable to sit on the sofa. Canada Upholstery returned the sofa with repaired tear but there was nothing done on the cushions. I've made a mistake by paying the delivery staff in full at the delivery, trusting the son of the owner that I can discuss and resolve any issues with his father the following day. When I tried to talked to the owner of the business he basically hanged up on me with a comment that I should 'Get somebody else to repair your sofa.' The only problem is that he already had a full payment in his hands! After the fact, I've done a search on this company and found that many customers have had the same type of issues with them. Their BBB rating is F, as they failed to reply to 3 complaints the Vancouver office received regarding this company. My bad that I didn't do my search before I hired them.
