Dodman's did not return my calls after he phoned me and told me that his employee phoned in sick. The owner tried to fit the cover himself And really botched this simple job. I ended up driving in to the business 4 times to talk with the owner and on the 4th time I took the seat back. I took my seat and cover to Gledstone Upholstery in Cloverdale and they installed the cover with no issues in under a week. It looks great! I have dealt with Dodman's for over 30 years and with them being beside Burnaby Kawasaki you would have thought that their work with motorcycle seats would be good. I think the motorcycle seat expertise is no longer there and I will never be back. Don't take your motorcycle seat to Dodman's.

Their work is impeccable, the finish, fitting and stitching is absolutely perfect. On both occasions the sofas came back to us looking as they did when they were new (possibly better). This is a family run business and they take great pride in what they do. The son, Luc, deals mostly with the customers, while his mother and father do the magic in their onsite workshop. They are easy to deal with, and work with you to make sure you get the result you want (from choice of fabrics to the finished product). I was referred to this upholstery place by another place that couldn't work on the leather ottomans…read moreI needed reupholstered. This was my first time to have any furniture reupholstered so I was going blind with any company I chose. I opted to reupholster vs buy new because I couldn't find the same ottoman style and those available for sale were about the same price or much more expensive than reupholstering, plus saving the landfill. Emmanuel at Canada Upholstery was quick to respond from my first call. Other companies weren't as prompt, with much higher estimates. He helped me find a high-end replacement faux leather, which was less expensive than if I'd gone with leather and much more durable. His timeline was 3 weeks from start to finish, and he delivered on time. The ottomans turned out way better than I expected. I'm very pleased with the work they've done. Also, Emmanuel kept his cost the same even though he had to do more work, like double stitching and replacing the inside fabric. Just note, the shop is not fancy, so don't expect a showroom. You also can't just drop by, make sure someone is at the shop. Your choice of fabric can take a week or so to arrive in their shop. Their location in East Vancouver (where I live) made it convenient for me to handle dropping off/picking up my ottomans, but they may have a pick up/delivery service for large items.

One of the cushions was sitting much lower and under an angle making it very uncomfortable to sit on the sofa. Canada Upholstery returned the sofa with repaired tear but there was nothing done on the cushions. I've made a mistake by paying the delivery staff in full at the delivery, trusting the son of the owner that I can discuss and resolve any issues with his father the following day. When I tried to talked to the owner of the business he basically hanged up on me with a comment that I should 'Get somebody else to repair your sofa.' The only problem is that he already had a full payment in his hands! After the fact, I've done a search on this company and found that many customers have had the same type of issues with them. Their BBB rating is F, as they failed to reply to 3 complaints the Vancouver office received regarding this company. My bad that I didn't do my search before I hired them.
