Like all the Sherman locations my wife and I have visited they are not just simply a bookstore. They have a wide variety of souvenirs and other goodies you may want to buy. Book wise they have a good variety of new and popular along with classics and organize them neatly in well marked areas by genre with some Maine focused book areas even. During our visit it was very busy and my wife found a couple books that piqued her interest. I do think due to how much of the area is touristy and distance from me I likely wouldn't seek this particular location out again. Much closer locations with better overall set up. Nothing outright negative about this one besides some areas really lacking space for a busy store making it hard to move. Glad to have now visited this one! If you are visiting from away visit here and check out one of the locations of Maine's oldest bookstores, add it to your list. Some other great shops and good spots to eat nearby.

You'll find this inside the Rock City Cafe in the back area, though mind you the cafe opens before the bookstore does. They had a good variety of genres as well as used and new books. Any book lover could definitely find a hidden gem here during their browsing. Prices seemed good including a rack outside marked as on sale books. A perfect idea to open this bookshop in the same building as the cafe. Browse and find that next book you want to read before enjoying a coffee and breakfast or lunch. Worth a visit!

It's the kind of neighborhood bookshop that feels magical. Like, don't come here looking for a particular book; let the right book come to you when you're perusing. You'll know it when you see it. Or, okay, come here for something specific; it seems like the staff is more than accommodating if you need to special order something they don't have. I will say definitely don't come in here expected your fancy new bookstore with all the popular new books. This is a used bookstore located in a historic building with shelves upon shelves of books. A spot you could spent a long time at browsing those shelves until you find that hidden gem you have been looking for! They have a variety of sections so if you have a particular genre you are searching for. Along with sections they did a few different sections highlighting Maine books too including a giant Stephen King section, Maine poetry and Maine mysteries too. Great little way to showcase that home state love! Value wise as we were just browsing we did not check prices so can't speak to that. Honestly my knowledge of used books especially highly sought after and in general is extremely lacking anyways. The condition of the books for sale did vary quite a bit too, some of the I assume older books had some wear and tear to them. Gives the books some character though. While visiting Damariscotta the first bookstore you may stumble upon will be Sherman's. While exploring the town afterwards we spotted signs mentioning a used bookstore that lead us to this spot. They have lots of parking available right by but also easy to walk to from Main Street too. Inside honestly feels very much like an old school library. The staff also made us feel welcome and the vibes were comfy. While we did not browse through every single book, the space is so large you could spend hours upon hours to find that hidden gem! They also had some sections where books appeared to be very cheap. I did overhear and saw online that everything is donated and all proceeds support the Skidompha Public Library located in town. What a fantastic way to support the library while also giving those visiting here a chance to get some good book deals! I would certainly call this one of the better used bookstores I have visited. We did not buy anything but love the fact it's all by volunteers and use it as a way to support the public library. Worth taking the small detour off the beaten path!

I have followed them on social media and have been wanting to bring my wife here due to her loving books. We came a little later in the day so the cafe will need to be a future visit. I love the fact they had it though and look forward to coming back. It's two levels with the second level being dedicated to kids books. My wife enjoyed our time here browsing the books. The shop is on the smaller side and during a busy day some of the areas may feel a bit congested. They did have a couple chairs around inside as well as a few small tables outside too. Due to the small size you may not find every new release or trendy book but overall it is such a cozy and inviting bookshop you must visit!
