I have been lucky in the past and have almost always found a book that I've been looking for (sometimes more) or have stumbled upon great books by chance. Hidden behind he main shops along the main street with ample parking, you won't want to miss this bookstore. There is something for everybody in this nicely organized shop!

We still try to make it to this store at least once a year, if not a few times a year, to support a local business. It is always an adventure to come to this store as you never know what you will find. It can be a little chaotic with books strewn in stacks in the entrance, however, I think that is part of the charm. You may be surprised by a randomly placed book, that you never expected to find. The prices are quite reasonable here which means you can buy a few books at a time! The owner is very nice and always helpful if you are looking for something specific or guidance around the sections of the store. You can always find something here for every kind of reader.

I will say definitely don't come in here expected your fancy new bookstore with all the popular new books. This is a used bookstore located in a historic building with shelves upon shelves of books. A spot you could spent a long time at browsing those shelves until you find that hidden gem you have been looking for! They have a variety of sections so if you have a particular genre you are searching for. Along with sections they did a few different sections highlighting Maine books too including a giant Stephen King section, Maine poetry and Maine mysteries too. Great little way to showcase that home state love! Value wise as we were just browsing we did not check prices so can't speak to that. Honestly my knowledge of used books especially highly sought after and in general is extremely lacking anyways. The condition of the books for sale did vary quite a bit too, some of the I assume older books had some wear and tear to them. Gives the books some character though. What I can say, is that if you are a book lover, or looking for gifts for that book lover in your life and are around here, stop in. Another quality used bookstore worth visiting.

It's cool on a summer day, it's intimate and so well organized for stacks of classic well collected and curated sections. You could spend hours here absorbing all these lovely novels and treasures. It's not a stuffy place, it's actually quite welcoming. Like being in your grandmothers library. I love the smell of old books.

I loved checking out the Maine Mysteries section and also the staff picks. The store is well laid out and organized although it would be easy to get lost in here for hours. I bought a few books on sale, some candies and a magnet. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking in lot. I will be back again and would highly recommend a stop in.

This Sherman's in Topsham feels like it wants you to do your own exploring; it's cleverly/cheekily organized (make sure to look at the bookshelves titles). We were here for at least an hour just leisurely looking through the bookshelves, before making another lap, and another... I'm sure we could have been here even longer, and no one would have minded. It helps that they have chairs throughout! From what I understand, this Sherman's does an exceptional job with special orders, so if you're looking for something specific, reach out to these folks! The staff seemed *very* selectively friendly (I wasn't on the receiving end of that warmth, but I watched them have welcoming, neighborly banter with other customers [regulars, I'm guessing]). This is one of those places you WANT to sign up for their rewards program: you just need to give them your name and phone number and for every $200 you spent you get $10 a credit!

Staff have always been friendly to me, and the location always looks clean and organized. One thing the location would improve is the seating area in Starbucks, and installing areas where computer users can plug their items in while conducting work there. I cannot find any outlets that are accessible in the seating areas of the cafe. Remodeling the cafe area to provide more seating options and accommodate customers' needs will attract more business. I hope you expand out to the Waterville, Maine, area.

I am visiting family and needed a quiet place to work, so I stopped in thinking this establishment would be like all the others. Nope. That wasn't the case. 1. Their Starbucks are not associated with official Starbucks's and They do not take the mobile app or gift cards for payment. It was hard to watch the employees cringe when they had to state that 5 times after I walked in to other patrons. 2. No outlets. Zero outlets, to plug into, to do studying or work. I was told the only outlets were along the wall in the book store and I would have to sit on the floor..... because that was the only option for even local students..... unsatisfactory.... 3. They were out of almond milk..... 4. The store is lucky they have really nice employees, otherwise this would have been a lower rating.

We didn't have enough cash on hand, so I sadly put my two book choices back on the shelves. The proprietor didn't greet us at all, just sat behind his desk and read the paper, and gruffly handling transactions. Normally I'd knock a shop for that, but it's just part of the charm. The other major downside is that it's up a big flight of stairs in a building with no elevator, and it's not air conditioned, so it can get very hot in the summer. Worth stopping in, but hit up the ATM first.
