I recently had CU Plumbing and Electrical do some work in my home. The work itself was completed…read morejust fine. However, I am quite unhappy with how I was charged for the work. Before I had the work completed, I got a quote for the plumbing job and was told it would be $115 an hour. So, I went ahead and scheduled the service. It took 30 minutes to complete the job, so imagine my surprise when I get an invoice for $190!!!! That math doesn't quite add up. I called to get clarification and they basically told me that the plumbers "set their own rates." So what good is getting a quote at all??? Basically, they just charge what they want. I will never ever use this service again. Plenty of other honest plumbing services in the area.

My home is in Danville, but they do provide plumbing service in Danville, IL…read more They are a breath of fresh air, and provide the type of plumbing service that I remember from my childhood. They typically come either same day or next day, with absolutely no additional emergency service charge. The focus is on taking the appropriate time to properly diagnose your plumbing issue, then providing you with the right fix. Then, to top it all off, their charges are very fair and reasonable. Unlike many other services, there is NO attempt to overcharge. In fact, they are probably undercharging as any other plumbing service would charge much more for the exact same service, some probably two to three times as much. So, do yourself a favor, if you have a plumbing problem to fix, give them a call. They will come out fairly promptly, give you the exact fix you need, and charge you a very reasonable price. Avoid the other competition that loves to price gouge customers.

We first used the services of Tim Morse a number of years ago when he installed a central AC unit…read morefor our century-old home--a system that uses high-pressure air that comes through small, flexible tubes that run through the walls and above the ceilings (since we have no existing ducts). We have been quite happy with the system. We have also had them check out our relatively new hot-water heating boiler and pumps, and have needed help with a handful of other items whose nature I have forgotten. Within the past year, I had a concern about our AC and called Morse. Tim came out the next day, fixed it, and didn't charge me at all because he had been able to do it so quickly. Wow! I have almost always been surprised at how quickly they are willing to see us--usually within a few days, if not the next day. Tim just now left after checking out what I thought was a problem in our heating system. Every HVAC professional who has looked at our hot-water heating system has uttered expletives at how stupidly it was designed (alas, we had a friend do it, and I think he must have been smoking something weird at the time). Tim is the first person who has been able (or perhaps was willing to take the time) to trace inlet and outlet pipes in order to show me where the water in each pipe is supposed to go, and why certain configurations in our system are insanely wrong. FINALLY I understand! Here's the thing: When I asked Tim if he thought I should hire him to cut out and reroute a few pipes that clearly are configured incorrectly, as well as reposition a couple of gizmos that are in the wrong place, he quickly replied, "No, if it seems to be working OK [as it has for perhaps a dozen years], I think it's best just to leave it alone." He could have gotten a relatively lucrative job out of me just by giving an affirmative answer, but he didn't. THAT's what I call integrity!
