The person I was working with was uninspired and gave off the overall vibe that I was inconveniencing them by applying. There was an extreme lack of communication, and ultimately it was up to me to figure out that I was denied 2 months into the process. She never bothered to tell me I was denied. Once I questioned Neighborworks about it, they said I was over the income requirements; they showed me the final application, and the worker put down my wrong income info. I would love to make what she said I make - but I showed them the math (multiple W-2's) and that I was well under the income limit. NO RESPONSE. I had to prod more, and eventually I was told I have to wait for the next calendar year to apply again with this years taxes. No apology, no acknowledgement that they screwed up, nothing. At this point, it's too late for me to apply, I need to buy a house well before I'd finish the saving program. TL;DR - Applied for FHBC. They messed up my application with a math error. Denied by state lending agency. They never told me and never apologized.

The new…read moreoffice didn't apply all the discounts I was supposed to be getting for my 6 years with State Farm and my good driving record. My "Discount Double Check," turned into a "Discount Quadruple Check" where I was doing all the checking. After a lot of legwork, I finally got things straightened out and then switched to another State Farm agent I hoped would work better. I had also met Matt Steele shortly after moving in and knew he was an independent insurance agent. Though I finally got everything straightened out with State Farm, I decided to have him get me some quotes for other companies. He did a very thorough job of assessing my situation and getting me the quotes for the proper coverage. He found me policies through Allstate with several times the liability coverage and the same deductibles for over $250 cheaper a year (the equivalent Allstate policies for the same coverage would mean even more savings if I went that route). Previously I had asked my State Farm agent about increasing my liability coverage as I had just finished schooling and had taken my first job in my career, but I didn't get a very straight answer. Matt explained the importance of the proper levels of coverage, and gave me many different quotes each time I asked about different options. Matt was very thorough, honest, and dedicated to getting me taken care of. He answered questions over the phone, via email, during business hours and after. I didn't think that I would be able to get a better rate switching to a new company since I'd be losing my 6-year save driving discount with State Farm, but I am very glad I looked into it. I also appreciated that as an independent agent, I knew he would be able to find the policy that most fit my needs. Overall, I was very satisfied and would recommend him to anyone looking to lower their premiums and ensure they have the proper level of coverage on home or auto.
