We have practices that are closer to us but prefer to travel here as my closest clinic managed to lose our medics records and are horrendous. We tried Cavendish which is a short drive from our home but worth travelling a little further with the service they provide. I always manage to book an appointment for the day if I call at 0800hrs. When I make an appointment I will wait no longer than five minute to see the doctor or nurse. I get referred immediately with any issues I'm having. Also same for my seven year old daughter. Recently she got sent home from school due to UTI. I rang the practice at around midday to see her about arranging an appointment and she was seen the same day at 1530hrs. Also the staff and doctors had good bed side manner. Give this practice a go, you won't regret it.

Within any of the departments there are different receptionists who look after all of the patients and check that they know what is going on, then ensure that the patients get to their appointments on time. All the medical staff that I have come into contact with, and that's a lot now, have been very supportive and have explained everything in great detail. I'm sure this is very reassuring to most patients but, as part of my second degree included the use of cNMR, CTI and similar imaging techniques, it wasn't really necessary in my case. The small shopping area/canteen near the main entrance is also well staffed and has a good supply of basic items. A small glitch occurred when I was prescribed some medication, went to the pharmacy for it and found that they can only accept payment in cash. I only carry cash when I Know I will need it, and then just the bare minimum. I ended up sending a cheque through the post as my next appointment isn't soon enough to clear their weekly accounting. Another small complaint has to be the car-parking. Although a hundred times better organised than Warrington, the available space is far too small! This was built on open spaces originally, surely the planners could have predicted it would need more than 40-odd spaces? After all, Halton Lea (formerly The Shopping City) was built at the same time as a futuristc shopping mall, with all sorts of transport facilities. If you need to be there in the morning time, go a little early or, better still, have someone drop you off. Update - January, 2009 Have just found another moan. They don't actually have a proper crash team here. If you have any sort of heart complaint while in the care of Halton, they send you to Warrington Hospital's A&E. Great in my case, as I live there, but could be a problem for others, especially if they've left their car on the carpark! I still think it is a very good hospital, notwithstanding the gripes.

I have been to A&E there twice…read more First time I had a suspected fracture to my shin. I waited for 3 hours in pain and when I finally got to see a doctor the atmosphere in there was making me feel sick. I told him that I need to go out for some air and he said that if I do that then the bed would be given to someone else. I went home unseen. Second time I went in having sliced two of my fingers down to the bone at work. The triage nurse changed the bandage for me and told me to take a seat. Whilst I sat there, the waiting time went up from 30 minutes to 4 and a half hours. Again I went home unseen. I won't go back now unless I am dying. Even then I don't think a doctor would get round to seeing me until I am actually dead.

I had my daughter at 2.25 am and was home the same evening a 6pm. But the staff were great and always willing to help. The hospital as it should be was clean and tidy and as with most hospital difficult to navigate aboutnot good when you turn up in labour and have lot of things on your mind.The hospital food however was not bad, i didnt feel in the mood to eat much but still it looked well presented.

The hospital has a lovely feeling about it. It always smells nice. There are also many flowers around the wards. Outside the hospital there is lots of parking facilities which must be paid for.

The doctors there (and there are quite a few) all score highly for their bedside manner: Dr Atkinson in particular is a very caring doctor (but perhaps it's unfair to single him out). The receptionists seem to be efficient. Two minor grumbles: the layout of the surgery is a bit odd (there are two waiting-rooms and if you don't wait in the right one things can get confusing); and the pharmacy next door tends to be rather slow when it's busy (which is often) -- although that's hardly this practice's fault. There's plenty of parking. All in all, an excellent surgery.

I used to be registered here for many years. Have recently switched as I felt the standard of care…read morewas not as good as it could be. It can feel quite impersonal here. There are not so good at calling patients in for chronic disease check ups and really rely on you bringing yourself in for that. Reception is situated away from the waiting areas so you're less likely to ask those questions that pop into your head while you're waiting. If the doctor suggests you need to see the nurse for something, you have to make another appointment and come back another day. If you have tests done and the doctor is off when the results come back, you have to wait until they are back in work to find out.

What is it with receptionists at the doctors?…read more I have been with this doctor's surgery since I moved to Liverpool but the only reason I've stayed with them is for the actual medics in there. The reception staff are often rude and questioning about your reasons for an appointment. You are extremely lucky if you get an appointment, 2-3 weeks is the average wait it seems, if you declare it to be an emergency they will invite you to come and sit for around 3 hours until a GP is free. However, once you're in, you will receive some of the best GP care. The staff (particularly a female doctor - I won't mention her name) is brilliant. Almost seems normal! It's a shame I can't say the same for the nurse who took my blood pressure, she didn't seem competent at using the machine at all.
