As your child graduates high school you can't help but to reflect back and wonder if you've made the right decisions for them over the years. One choice I've never second guessed was the decision to send him to Fierce Dragon martial arts. They are a cornerstone of his foundation. They have been there to shape his character and guide him in his struggles not only with martial arts but academically, socially, and personally. They have played such an important role in his growth and success. Upon receiving multiple awards and accolades not to mention compliments from other parents and teachers on what a fine and respectful young man he is, I give thanks to Master Kimmel, his wife Jessica, Mr Cholowa , Master Zeman, Master Siegel, Mr DiGirolomo and so many more. Their mantra of being a good citizen, being courteous to everyone they meet , treating people the way you would want to be treated , knowing when to do the right thing are words to live by. I never would have believed 14 years ago that my clumsy, awkward, socially challenged, 4 year old would earn the rank of 3rd Dan. As my son prepares for college, I remind him, all roads lead back to Fierce Dragon. If I could give 0 stars I would. I ALWAYS promote small businesses but this one leaves a lot to be desired. Upon entering for a trial, my child spotted the afterschool room. Coach Lynda immediately vacated her seat to tell my child that they were not allowed in this room. We were instructed to come early to meet the instructor and explore the space. My child waited....and waited.... And waited.... There was no time to explore the room or meet the instructor. My child finally entered an overcrowded multi age class for a one on one trial? My kid ran and touched the mat on the wall twice, so the Instructor Mike scooped my child up and handed him to my facing me telling me that this is not a one to one facility. Mike than sat next to me while my child begged for a second chance not understanding what they did incorrectly. No problem Fierce Dragon, you lost our business, and you will continue to lose business. Thankfully there are a lot of great options not far away. This has been the best choice for our daughter... ever! She is 7 years old and can't stop talking about how much fun she has in class every time and how kind the teachers are. They are true professionals and amazing to see at work. She has learned so much in such a short amount of time and can't wait to continue her journey with Fierce Dragon. Finally got a chance to check this place out, and although the space is big, and the staff is nice, it seems to be more a play gym then taekwondo place. There is no dividing wall, and they had 2 classes going on so its very noisy which can be distracting when trying to listen to the instructor. The free month offered as an incentive to give the place a try, is in fact a way to suck you into signing your life away, like that gym membership you sign up for and end up needing a lawyer to get out of if you don't read the fine print before signing up. Do be sure to ask all your questions before even taking the trial class. Would not recommend this place. read more

My daughter attended the summer camp at Fierce Dragon and it was amazing! Not only did they plan physical activities, they also built in character development and team building skills. Each week followed a theme and the teens and adults running the program ensured everyone was included and actively engaged. Wonderful caring owners. They take the time to get to know each child and family. Great for teaching discipline, values, staying healthy and active. They help boost a child's self confidence. Some classes are a bit large but there are many to choose from based on age/ belt level. They also have a new nija trix class that's a mix of gymnastics and parkour in addition to the regular tae kwon do classes. Great value for the price. Great for young kids. Lots of additional events like Parents night out parties for the kids every few months. My son really enjoys going. read more

Fierce Dragon has been the best camp and after school program for my son. Ever since going there a few summers ago, he did not want to try another camp (even one outdoors, or with a pool!). He's happy to go there every day, has many friends, he's at home, and the coaches are amazing. The program is run beautifully, and when the schools shut down at the last minute, I always have piece of mind that he's well cared for and in a good and safe environment. This place is awesome!! The instructors are extremely patient and you can see and feel the care that they have for their pupils. Master Kimmel is the real deal and has trained a fantastic staff! They have a great after school program and summer program. My son has been enrolled at Fierce Dragon since September and started in the after school program. There's a reason why Fierce Dragon was just named Best Martial Arts school in Queens...it is a FANTASTIC place!!! My 12 year-old son has been studying taekwondo at Fierce Dragon for three years, and he has gained discipline, confidence and athleticism from the classes. Not only has he learned the techniques of kicking, punching, sparring and self defense, but he has become more respectful and well-behaved because of the rules of the school, which stress proper conduct in life. Our son has had such a great time that he inspired my husband and I to join, too, and we now attend class with some other families where the parents and kids study martial arts together. It has definitely been a great bonding experience for our family and brought us closer together. We simply LOVE studying taekwondo at Fierce Dragon! I'm not sure we'd love it at other schools, but we love it because of our fabulous instructor. Master Michael Kimmel is an AMAZING and patient teacher who makes every class fun, whether you're 5 or 50. His passion for the martial arts is infectious! Students and other instructors at the school are really friendly and encouraging. Moreover, it is GREAT exercise. We've all lost weight and developed some muscle from the training. My son loved his classes so much that he attended Fierce Dragon's summer camp last year, and he loved that as well. Not only were the martial arts classes fun, which I expected, but Mr. and Mrs. Kimmel had arranged tons of trips and guests and activities that my son loved. It was way above our expectations, and the price was very low given the quality. I could write pages and pages about what the Fierce Dragon family has meant to our family. My 5 year old Son started at Fierce Dragon almost a year and a half ago, then my 8 year old daughter signed up 3 months later. I decided to join them for a Saturday "Family Class" and then joined up to participate invthe Adult Classes a month after that. Now a year on my youngest 3 year old has joined and he has a blast. Fierce Dragon MA teaches a variety of skills to the students that focus not only on traditional skills but also real world applications. A combination of Tae Kwon Do of which the school was founded as well as Hapkido and Jui Jitsu. This melding of skills allows the students to utilize multiple moves to defeat or escape an opponent. The school also teaches its students disciplines of the mind, integrity,honesty , self belief, confidence,discipline. Both my kids lacked confidence, they were always good kids never got into physical confrontations, never hit back, and I felt this would lead them to being "Bully Targets" in School. This lack of confidence and my belief that they had a right to defend themselves,(which is contradicted in schools), led me to send them to Fierce Dragon MA after reviewing and looking at multiple martial arts schools in the area. Now a year or so later they are changed children. They are full of confidence and know how to defend themselves but do so with integrity and discipline. Master Kimmel and his staff really take the time to effectively train their students. The students consistently receive one on one attention, and are constantly being assessed to help and correct skills being taught, and they do this in a relaxed but disciplined atmosphere. Part of Every class revolves around physical fitness which is so important now with a complete lack of PE in schools especially elementary age. My children can now easily do multiple jump ropes,full push ups,full burpees and sit-ups,planks,squats etc. They have both become way more flexible and recently My daughter easily outran her entire school class in the PE "beep test", something she wouldn't have done a year ago, something she has learned through building strength and stamina in Fierce Dragon classes. . As an adult I find the classes refreshing, they are physically demanding, however fun and intuitive as well, unlike your basic Gym workout. Your entire body is being used constantly, you become more flexible (which leads to less injuries) and you get a really great workout. On top of that you are learning all the skills that are being taught to the younger ones, and I found it amazing how physically taxing some of these skills really are, 2 mins of sparring seems an eternity when you are not trained for it. I would recommend the Adult classes to any adult who wishes to A.Get Fit B.Wants to Learn some new "Real World" skills , and C.have fun whilst working out All in All The school is way more than I can ask for. They do an amazing Job, and if you are considering putting yourself or your children into a program either for Self defense, Athleticism, Confidence boosting or just a general all round Fitness goal i would highly recommend Fierce Dragon Martial Arts. read more
