Went to Fiesta Hermosa yesterday afternoon mainly to catch Pine Mountain Logs and ended up staying for hours. It really is one of those classic South Bay events that feels like the unofficial kickoff to summer. The entire downtown area of Hermosa Beach turns into a huge street fair with live music, food, drinks, carnival rides, artists, and hundreds of vendors spread throughout the closed streets. There were families everywhere, groups of friends hanging out in the beer garden, people walking around with dogs, and just a really fun community vibe overall. Pine Mountain Logs were great live and the Garden area had a relaxed energy with music going most of the afternoon. The vendor mix was exactly what you would expect from a big festival like this. Some really cool local makers and artists mixed in with a little random street fair chaos, which honestly is part of the charm. You can grab food from local Hermosa spots or festival booths, stop for a drink, wander the Makers Mercado, listen to music at different stages, or just people-watch for a few hours. It is busy, loud, and crowded in the best possible way. Really impressive that this has been going for more than 50 years. I have grown up in the South Bay but this was my first year going to Fiesta Hermosa. We arrived pretty early and walked around until everything officially opened at 11am. The weather was chilly and overcast but did warm up . My LO enjoyed the carnival rides. There are two ticket booths were you can purchase tickets. No cash accepted. Lots of vendors but I didn't really go look for anything in particular. Food - Yes, food is pricey but it's a festival so that's the norm. The food vendors do take cash, credit card, Venmo or Zelle. Parking - you can park at Northrop and take. Shuttle of there are numerous paid parking really close to the festival off of Pier Avenue. $25 to support Hermosa Schools for our parking lot and I felt it was worth it. There was a free succulent potting craft which was so fun There's lots of music and is definitely a fun way to spend a few hours over Memorial weekend. read more

I think this was the biggest street fair I've been to. It takes place Memorial Day weekend every year Fiesta Hermosa is a treasured community event that welcomes Southern California residents each year to open the summer. Its footprint encompasses the entire downtown area of Hermosa Beach with many street closures. Average attendance is 125,000 people over the 3 days. This year was the 53rd year. You can expect the same insane fun with five stages of music: Beach stage, Garden Stage, Garden Acoustic Stage, Java Man Stage and Carnival Stage. It will also feature a large Carnival for families with brand activations throughout the whole footprint for all to enjoy. Food and desserts will be ample whether dining at a local business or visiting the Food Fair and Dessert Depot. And of course we'll have over 250+ vendors in the streets for the shopping pleasure of all in attendance--we call it the Makers Mercado. Everything at Fiesta is open and free to enter for the public (except the Garden which has a $5 cover). The Garden will feature sponsored beverages as well as local tasty cocktails, beer and wine. There were a lot of vendors, but the only vendors I was really looking forward to were the dog vendors. What a joy to have a festival so close to the beach! I arrived extra early so I wouldn't encounter issues with parking. It was already impacted and the event hadn't even started. We ended up going on Saturday. The first thing we saw were the rides and games that were still not in motion. Then we started meandering down and visiting the booths of interest. There were so many! I'm thankful for the variety. Besides Pier Avenue, a few sides streets also had vendors. Closer to the pier was a stage with live music. We were able to have our lunch on the pier, it's that close! 4 stars Decided to come here with my dog and family. We had a great time looking around, but, like many others have pointed out, you can get some of the same items for less outside of the fair. Food-wise, there were only 2 food items that kinda stood out to me, which were the Dutch Pancakes ($7 for 10 bite-sized pieces) and Lobster Sandwich ($26)...which I didn't end up getting. Instead, I went to Guisados for a small bite! There were a lot of women's clothing & accessories, homegoods, dog accessories, and sticker booths. And a lot of people brought their dogs, which was fun to see. Coca-Cola and Minute Maid were giving out unlimited drink samples by the boardwalk. Parking was pretty easy thanks to Luke's review!! I followed his review's instructions on parking and hopped on the shuttle (w/ my dog in a sling). The shuttle system is well-organized and nice. Transportation is certainly not something every city is willing to set up for visitors coming in for an event, so they definitely deserve bonus points. The good: I had a lot of fun at this event and was surprised by how many quality vendors there were. Outside of tents and vendors, the businesses at the location of the event were nice to see as well. My daughter got to pet a pig, alpaca, cow, and goats at a petting zoo. We also played carnival games and ate gyros and lamb fries. I liked that there were tables setup for the food. We got a free energy drink, tote, and playdoh. There are parking shuttles. We parked at a nearby parking lot and walked over. They have paid parking spots for $20. The bad: The ticket booth said 4 tickets were needed for the petting zoo but the petting zoo attendant said 5. I saw that she accepted both 4 and 5 which didn't seem fair. She was also a bit grumpy and uninformed about the start process of the event. It was 10:55 (event starts at 11) when someone asked her where they should line up and she responded "I don't know, we're not open yet" grumpily. The prizes at the game booths are pretty cheap. The kettle corn wasn't as yummy (less sweet) as others I've had. The interesting: Tickets are $1 each and they recommended that I buy 20 tickets. Most games are 5 tickets. I was left with 2 tickets I couldn't really use. My daughter is 20 months old and they said most rides probably wouldn't be good for her because she's too young. I shied away from local festivals and crowds so this was my first time attending. Thought it would be a fun to pop in for a little bit. Looks like there's a little something for everyone from families with young children to those who prefer to listen to live music on the beach. The beer garden right smack in the middle has live music as well for an additional cost. Glad to support a few vendors at the many booths. Lots of jewelry and clothing as expected and tge kid scored a quality hoodie Bummer that one of the food vendors closed early but others were open. We got here just before 10 because we heard the parking can be tough. We got lucky and found the last parking spot in the public library lot where we got to park for free. But looking at the scope of things, the likelihood of finding street parking is a slim chance to none. You should prepare to pay $20 bucks for those private parking lots. I like coming to Fiesta Hermosa every year. It goes on all weekend. I get there early because of parking. Then I catch breakfast at one of the restaurants in the area. Not sure when they technically open, but people are still setting up until 10am. They close the street off, so it's just fun to walk around and look at what people are selling: clothing, jewelry, food, wind chimes, art, etc. There is also pet adoption. They have a stage set up near the pier with a live band. I've never personally stayed for the band, which I think is usually a Beatles cover band, or something similar. Many people bring their dogs. Am sure pre-COVID this has always been a great event, and will be again. I get things had to change to be more safe, social distance, etc. in the end, the only thing we were good with is the $400 spent on 4 VIP tickets went to a good cause - supporting the C of C. We are new to the area, and assumed the extra $75 would be worth it, based on the advertising. I wanted a refund 5 minutes in. We expected tons of vendors and things to do. But only a couple of vendors - clearly nothing compared to prior years, based on photos here. There was a huge space, where vendors were likely expected, that was taken up by a bean bag toss. Not great camouflage a poorly attended event. As far as experience, virtually no difference between paying $25 or $100 for entrance. A canopy you could sit under by the band. Still had to wait in the same huge line to enter. No shorter "VIP" line. And the tickets that took a half dozen emails back and forth to get the right QR code assigned to each of us was enough of a hassle. But upon entry, the code wouldn't scan and we had to stand in yet another line to have someone look us up. We did get two "free" drink tickets each, although gave them all to our Uber driver as we were just happy to end the day early, since there was no apparent reason to have spent the extra money. The place was near empty except for the children's area, which would have been fun for families. But unless you wanted to be asked to sign a political petition every 20 feet, it was not very enjoyable. The best part of it was eating lunch at a restaurant outside the venue on the Pier. Which brings me to the "Just for show" security measures. As mentioned everyone waited in a long line to have your bags searched on arrival. But if you exited through the back gate at the pier, you could come back in that way. The single guard was only looking for armbands, nothing else. Hopefully crowds will appear in the evening to listen to the bands, but all of the enthusiasm we had to meet up with family there was quickly exhausted. read more

Unhealthy food, lot's of drinking, traffic jams, no parking, and bad music bands are what make Fiesta Hermosa so special. They also have a bike valet area--but they are not responsible if your bike gets stolen the sign says that no one really reads except me. How to have the best time at Fiesta Hermosa: Drink! Start drink early and often, and just like Spring Break in College or a Dorm Party, you will have the best time I guarantee you. Look forward to this every year because it welcomes in the Summer season with Memorial Day weekend and closes it out with Labor Day weekend. This street fair takes a small footprint and packs in a lot of stuff. They claim to be the largest arts & crafts fair in Southern California. You get all the craft booths you can handle, food, music, kiddie rides, carnival style games of chance, fresh air and lots of people. And it's right off the beach. The food court has something for everyone but never enough tables and chairs to sit and eat. If you find a spot, grab it. There's usually two spots with live music; the beer garden located at the back of the food court and the main stage right in front of the pier. Most common option for getting to and from the fair is to use the shuttle bus service. You park at an offsite location (Northrop Grumman at Aviation Blvd and Marine St) and catch a free bus ride. Better yet, thanks to Hermosa Cyclery, ride your bike to the fair, they'll valet park it for free in a guarded lot and give your ride a free checkup while it's there. You know those tires need some air. Go early if you can. By afternoon this place is packed. Don't forget your sunscreen. read more

Fiesta Hermosa happens twice a year! Once on Memorial day weekend! and once on Labor day weekend. Growing up in the area, it's been a tradition coming to Fiesta Hermosa. Parking has always been a hassle of hit or missed. BUT it's free parking at the Mira Costa High School and they bus you down to the fair with their free shuttle. The fair is perfect size, not too big and not too small, but definitely need a foot massage by the time you finish! Lots to see and do for kids and adults. Like many locals, I've been coming here forever and ever. It is one of those places that you never know whom or what you will see. Though many of the dealers return year after year, (and that is a good thing), there is always someone or something new to see or to buy. Overall fun place. Now, here is the thing about Fiesta Hermosa, parking can be a mess. Yes, they have off-site parking but that is far-far away and you have to take a shuttle bus to get to the event. Though that service does serve s purpose, it is not fun. Advice: If you do not live in the area and/or can't bike there the best thing to do is arrive early, get some local parking and then catch some breakfast at one of the Hermosa hot spots. I haven't lived in HB for very long, but I'm really falling in love with this little beach community and the cool community events like Fiesta Hermosa magnify its charm. I normally hate battling crowds at events like these but for some reason, I didn't mind the first time I went this past Labor Day. It's actually kinda cool that they close down Pier and Hermosa Ave. for this twice-a-year event. Makes you feel like something really special's going on in town. =) I tried the famous Charla's tri-tip sandwich that everyone who's reviewed seems to swear by, but I just didn't think the $8 or $9 for a hot dog bun with a few slices of bland beef was justified. It wasn't bad but I found myself engulfing the thing with their self-pump BBQ sauce as it definitely wasn't flavorful and juicy. The bf got his with potato salad and baked beans for an extra $2 or so and those were even more disappointing. There are a number of other food options, like hot dogs, Thai food, BBQ, Mexican, even CPK, but it's all overpriced and nothing spectacular. Next time, we are heading over to Mickey's. There's the beer and wine garden everyone talks about, carnival rides, games, cotton candy, popcorn, and live music. The novelty of the beer garden seemed appealing but for some reason I could not bring myself to go in. Most likely because the food was so pricey, I was expecting the alcohol to be ridiculously overpriced as well. It's fun to peruse the vendors for unique one-of-a-kind crap you probably don't need but might buy anyway. I saw some great art pieces, cute clothing, and even stopped by the pet adoption booth to ogle at the baby kittens and pups. A cute local festival perfect for families and friends. Various local artists' booths on the streets will entertain you. There are food stands and restaurants nearby so you won't have troubles finding a place to eat. My favorite part was the Toyota kayaking activity. They offered a small refreshment and non-alcoholic drinks as well as a small craft booth. They will give you a ride from the main festival area to the private beach/port. The free shuttle bus service was running smoothly and there was a long line but there are enough busses even if you can't get on the next one. If your schedule is flexible, I recommend taking the luxurious one vs the school bus. Please note they don't let you sit with your pets. Some family was turned down because they carried a small puppy. One hour was enough to explore and have some snacks. The kayaking took about another hour including the transportation and the flower wristlet making. read more

This is an annual pilgrimage for my family. I've been going to the Fiesta Hermosa for over 20 years. The big joke is that you always see the same vendors, which is probably 80% true. That said, you will find a lot of art and crafts which are worth your time, I never regret going. I usually use this venue to find ornate gifts for family members - and I always find something cool. For kids, they have a petting zoo and lots of fun rides. For adults, they do have a beer garden and an expansive food area, including all the great restaurants that are in the immediate area. We have a few vendors which are always on our bucket list, the overpriced fresh lemonade, and the almond stand - both are delicious and always a hit with our crew. It does get really busy between 2pm to 4pm - we were at a stop in some aisles and it was hard to walk through the crowd at times. I like how the food area is in its own section, and people are nice to share their tables with you. The Dessert Crepes were really good! Garlic Fries were the best! And the Lemonade was freshly made! We use the free shuttle - the only drawback was exiting around 6pm- the security guard saw two lines forming for the same shuttle but couldn't be bothered to tell us there was a line around the alley and when the bus came just casually told us we might not get on after. 20+ min wait.... Came to check out the festivities with my family today after our vacation plans fell through. We looked for parking for a loooooong time. I know they offer free shuttle service from Marine and aviation but we had too much stuff to haul with two kids. Anyway we shelled out $20 for parking in a private lot. Pier ave down to the beach is closed with lots of different booths and vendors. We checked out a few and got some samples. They had music and a live concert. It was very crowded and had a good vibe. There's a separate area wit a petting zoo and carnival section with rides for kids. You have to buy tickets for the rides and they only accept cash for the tickets. They were pretty expensive but it was all for good fun. The kids checked out the super long 30 feet slide, the pony ride, the car ride, and the bungee jump ride. I gave it 4 stars because - damn it's Fiesta Hermosa - in Hermosa Beach, how good does that get? However, I have to agree w/some of the recent reviews of the pet peeves observed by others who went and why I almost gave it 3 stars. The good: It's something free to do every year on the long three day weekend holiday's - Memorial & Labor day. Beer & Wine Garden Free concerts (I thought I saw 3 altogether) Lots of Arts & Crafts vendors, plus local businesses & some w/discounted items - a plus if you live nearby & have eyeballed something you want, but didn't want to pay $$$ for it - wait for this event & it'll be close to 50%-20%. Activities for the the kids throughout. Activities for the adult kids throughout. Freebies! (get there early - they go really fast) Pet Adoptions (awwww) There are free parking lots nearby & free shuttle Tons of bike rentals readily and accessible for your convenience. It's on Pier Ave literally steps from the beach/pier. Bathrooms throughout, on top of the ones they have on the pier. Safe city and (knock on wood) never heard of any incidents. If not too much into being stuck crunched w/the masses, one can enjoy dining, drinking at anyone of the restaurants, bar lounges, people watching. Never a dull moment w/that. The Bad: Although no admission fee, but if you drive far & don't find free parking - not free. The food, the alcohol and the stuff they sell or services (bikes, rides, etc) - $$$$. But all that doesn't come falling from Heaven on your lap - Just make sure to bring plenty of money or pay the voluminous ATM fees. Afternoon it gets crowded fast! Beer & Wine garden gets awfully tight fast! Tons of people in good spirits partying (yep both local & traveling drunks), you'll feel like sardine all right. With that said, even trying to get through to the line for the beer was a complete drag - unless you want to rub butts & boobies - yeeeaaah......(insert smh emoji here) but I have to say the people I encountered were quite polite about it and most excused/pardoned themselves and others gave pervy smiles. But I have to admit it was a crowd filled w/mostly young attractive people in excellent shape - WTH were we doing there? I don't know. Didn't stop my old granny pervy smiling though ;) Oh, lets not forget the tremendous scent of Pot throughout Parking can be both expensive and painful. Although most of the closest $20 parking was for local school fund raising & other community fundraising - so if it goes back to them, that's all good if you can afford it. Painful - yep you betcha. From what I'm reading - Long lines & crowded shuttles to and from. Although lots of thought, time & hard work gone into some of the items, they are bit pricey for budget & the other items way over priced. Did I mention it gets awfully crowded down there - peak times noon & early evening? Did I miss anything? (you Yelper friends of mine know I'll add more later) I'll definitely keep coming back, but I think early and really just to check out the local businesses discounted merchandise & check out the bands. (The Arts & Crafts seem to be the same old stuff every year w/higher prices each time). Fiesta Hermosa happens only two weekends in the year: Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend. It was my first time this past Labor Day weekend and I had a good time. To avoid all the crazy traffic and trying to find parking, they have free shuttles from the Northrop parking long in North Redondo and at Mira Costa High School. There's tons of vendors selling cool stuff and maybe a couple not so cool things. But it was interesting to see them all. Plenty of beverage vendors giving out drinks for free to keep you from being dehydrated (Cuties, Kern's, and Pepsi). There was also a good amount of food vendors. My friends and I tried the garlic fries, an empanada place, and Samba's. The fiesta was also dog friendly with people providing bowls of water for dogs. I only wish that the vendors were spread out more. Some spots got really crowded and it was really hard to maneuver around strollers and dogs on leashes. I'd recommend visiting if you plan on staying local for these holiday weekends. read more

As one can see there are mixed reviews here. I'm not a fan of festivals or fairs in general so here are the good, the bad and the ugly: GOOD -great local hangout to spend time with family and friends -next to Hermosa Beach, you can walk around in your swimming trunks and bikinis (although some people should not be in their bikinis) -great live music & band (the guy singing The Doors music was really good) -you can bring your dogs -my friends love the biergarten but I did not go BAD -parking (luckily my friend lives 1 block down from the beach so I parked at his place) -if you read most reviews everyone quoted "SAME SHIT EVERY YEAR". I've only been here twice and I can atest to that. -lemonade stand sucks at $3.50 for small, $4.50 for large and $5.50 if you want to add berry flavor (which is written really small on their board). The guy will automatically charge you $4.50 if you're ordering small so make sure you are getting what you asked for. There is a wad of sugar at the bottom.....its pretty much crap. -DO NOT BUY HALIBUT FISH TACOS (I forget the name of the stand). $6 for 2 little pieces of fish (looks like the size of quarters). They were out of mango salsa and still charged me the same price. I've never seen halibut cut in such tiny pieces. The cashier girl actually felt bad and offered if I wanted more fish. -there is no one by the cajun shrimp stand....at $10 for 5 pcs of shrimp, $20/10 and $40/20. Knock yourself out if you think it's worth it. -the hot dogs looked good but I did not have any. -I actually like the roasted corn on the cob but this year the corn is much smaller. Who knows maybe I got unlucky. -I don't really care about shopping here. My friends bought wine picnic baskets and bed sheets. Why? YOU CAN'T RETURN THEM. And do you really need more crap? I do have to admit there are only a handful of booths offering artisan handmade goods that are really unique. But I still didn't buy anything. UGLY -some nasty people walking around in bikinis TIDBITS -the fair runs for a couple of days and supposedly you can get good deals on the very last day. I never bought anything nor do I care. -my friend's friend had a cookie booth last time and said she didn't make much profit because the booths were expensive. I have no idea how much they're being charged for the booths but at least I feel a little better as to why some of the stuff were super expensive (including food). Overall I felt the same way when I first visited here during Memorial Day a couple of months ago. Back in the days when I was 17 I had my first job..selling food at fairs. Thai food to be exact and I called it my rice scooping job. Good sweaty hot times. Anyways, I use to sell food at Fiesta Hermosa and always wished I was on the other side instead of scooping rice. It was a fun festival to work at, cute hot guys walking around (for a teenage girl I was in heaven, later in life I realized that there needs to be a brain to go along with the hot guy) your right on the beach, great music to jam to and Hermosa Beach just kicks ass. My only issue was with all the people asking for chopsticks because we were selling "Asian" food! Lemme tell you something, Thai people do not use chopsticks, only for noodle soup. But everyone would constantly ask for chopsticks...whatever, I'd hand them a pair of wooden chopsticks! Okay...so that was way back then...now it's a totally different ball game. Fiesta Hermosa has grown so much since I last visited. It's huge now, going through several little streets. Lots and lots of vendors, foods, bars, stages and more vendors. What I liked: * Free parking/shuttle bus from two lots this time, Mira Costa HS and Northrup parking lots. With fairly short waits. *I was able to take my little cousins for a day at the beach as well as enjoy the fiesta! * All the vendors!! From food to artwork to dog leashes to cheap sunglasses. This place had it all. * Live music * Great bars and food It's a big change from my rice scooping days! It's grown so much! I will definitely be returning to this festival next year! read more

Fairs in general bring out weirdos, crazies, and creepy people...so for the most part I avoid them like the plague. Having lived in Hermosa for a little over a year and now living in Redondo, I can honestly say there is just a party all the time, and be gross vibe about Hermosa I do not miss at all... Here's the GOOD about Fiesta Hermosa: - Next to the beach. - Memorial Day means summer... - Drunkedness, drug use, and general gross folks are usually handled well by police and staff. Here's the BAD: - Lots and lots of nasty people. Drunk, high, or otherwise. - Lots of booths selling overpriced crap and handmade crap, and cheap crap. - Crappy food on a stick - Or super expensive "healthy foo-foo food" - Crowds...lots and lots of people, everywhere. - Beer garden is crowded and smelly and over-priced. - No parking anywhere, city gets mucho ticket revenues. - Usually bad live bands, and drunk people dancing for no reason. - Street Fair toilets...no, no , no, no, and no... Sorry Fiesta...there's a couple booths worth visiting, some hard working artsy people that deserve better exposure, but for the most part its just obese children, bad food, a lot of people who need to put some clothes on, a general lack of showering and personal hygiene, some thugs, some drunks, overpriced everything, and a hassle. This is the Hermosa fiesta. But if you're a local, good luck on trying to catch a siesta. On one end, you have people who drive very big pickup trucks and wear MAGA hats. On the other, you have people like me who have no clue what these weirdos are doing here. Then there are people who drive through here trying to find a spot and then park on spots that say "1 hour parking only" when they're staying longer than an hour. Enjoy getting a ticket! It's literally a street fair. There's food trucks and booths. There's nothing that makes me think "unique" and "amazing." I see street fairs all the time. I do not know what draws so many people here. Was Brad Pitt signing autographs? Was Lady Gaga performing? Was even Rita Ora performing? No. Which is why I am giving it two stars. Things that are overrated should get their ratings brought down. read more

I went here this weekend with Frank M. This place was pretty busy. First there was traffic going in, then there was traffic leaving. And we went close to closing. I was not too impressed. It's basically a big swap meet on the streets near the beach. Too many people. Nothing really good to buy. The Hermosa Beach parking enforcement was out in full force. Hopefully no one got a ticket. I don't really know if I would come back next year. Probably not. Unless I wanted to people watch. read more

Twice a year, the Chamber of Commerce in Hermosa Beach hosts Fiesta Hermosa, on Memorial Day and Labor Day Weekends. I've had some of the funnest times in HB during these long weekends, so much fun that I still go down there just to be able to hang out during Fiesta Hermosa. The fair is for everyone, children to grandparents. There is a petting zoo, kiddie rides, and lots of junk food for the kids. Arts & crafts, live music, great food, and the beer garden for the adults. You typically find the same vendors during the fair. It might sound like it should get old, but my friends and I are creatures of habit. We love Charla's Tri-Tip. We're only able to devour this meal during Fiesta Hermosa. We have become such good friends with the proprietor, that Vance LOOKS for us in the beer garden every night before they close to give us a deal on the left over tri tip. Another place we frequent is Chrevan's booth. This lovely couple make the most unique blown glass jewelry you can find. The Fiesta is a party for all of Hermosa, but people from all over the South Bay (of LA) stop by to do a little shopping, eat great fair (but not always healthy) food, and hang out in the beer garden. If you're into celebrity sightings, the one and only Wee Man of Jackass is a longtime HB resident. I've hung out and partied with him, too! read more
