They offer free shuttle service to and from the airport. I found the shuttle service on time and the driver courteous and helpful. If you are arriving to Terminal 2, the hotel has a desk at arrivals (on the ground floor) across from a small OXXO. Otherwise call the hotel front desk to schedule your retrieval at (55) 5640 0460. While the outside of the building is gray, once you enter it is very refreshing oasis in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the city. The lobby is classy and pleasant, there are sitting areas in the common area with a TV across from the front desk. The seats in the sitting area are a bit oversized and you tend to sink into them. Fortunately I did not have a problem getting up out of them! The front desk staff was very professional, courteous, helpful and is in a great representation of what customer service ought to be. Your room key card must be inserted into a reader to get the elevator to take you up. That's a security measure. It is not required to return to the lobby. The bellhop carried my bags and showed me to my room. When I entered the room, it seemed a little musty at first until I put my key in the switch to turn on the power for the room. Once I did that the AC and vent came on and cleared up the air. I got the room with the king size bed. I found the bed, the multiple pillows, linens and all very clean, comfortable and inviting. The spacious room is nicely and simply decorated and has several in room amenities such as: Single cup coffee maker, large flatscreen TV with cable and a printed channel guide, remote controls, telephone with instructions, plenty of power outlets, well placed furniture such as night stands, desk, office style chair, and free WiFi. My room was in excellent condition as if it were new or recently remodeled. The closet was equipped with a stand for the suitcase, an iron, ironing board, and a safe. One small bottle of water was provided in the room (two would have been nicer). The coffee (in a filter packet), was a medium roast. Two kinds of sugar and Splenda were provided as well as two CoffeeMate powdered creamers). The bathroom was equipped with the standard shampoo, conditioner, lotion, a bar of facial soap and a bar of bath soap. The towels are quite large and were a high quality. Unlike many Mexican hotels there was also a wash cloth. Krystal Urban offers room service 24/7, and there is a restaurant on the ground floor. I didn't try either one, but did take a peek inside and it seemed to have a nice relaxing atmosphere. I also posted a picture of the room service menu. There is a basic gym for those who like to work out. It is equipped with standard exercise machines such as treadmills, as well as a full set of free weights. To get to the gym take the elevator to the 4th floor. As you exit the elevator go left. At the end of the hall take another sharp left and go up the flight of stairs, and there it is. Across the street there is a large grocery store, and also a large mall with numerous shopping and dining options. The hotel has a few parking spaces in front and also an underground parking garage. I will definitely stay here again.

The room towels were dirty looking enough that I actually dried off with my clothes. They are supposed to be white towels and I'll just let you be the judge based on the photos. Even when we asked for more towels, they came looking just as dirty. The pilled up sheets and pillowcases with hair all over them were enough to make me want to throw up. Hotel cleanliness is number 1 for me and this place missed ALL marks!

Next morning we asked again and even went to the front desk only to be told to dial 0 for housekeeping. When I said we'd been waiting since the night before and nothing was brought up so we'd be using the lobby lavatories we were advised against it because they said it was being used by people there for a conference. We used the lavatories anyway. We didn't get any toilet paper until our room was cleaned around 1ish and after leaving a note requesting for extra toilet paper and towels.

I travel quite extensively and had experiences staying at plenty of hostels around the world..and I have to say...no doubt this hostel is by far the best hostel I had stayed in. The location of Hostel Barrio is perfect. It is situated in the middle of the historic district of downtown Mexico City, making it very easy to walk to places, take transportation elsewhere...or go do your thing be they running errands, getting food at restaurants, cash at nearby ATMs l, buying things last minutes or even getting groceries/quick things to eat. The place is new and very clean (they opened just in latter half of 2022) and I never felt grossed out at all (initially I was slightly worried because even though I booked a private room..I still had to share bathrooms...but..this wasn't an issue at all. The bathrooms were always clean and even stocked with shower gel, shampoo/conditioner, hand soap and body lotion!). On top of it, this place is a good, convenient and safe place. I had to check out around 1-2am at night and Uber to the airport and was slightly worried about how empty the streets might be. But rest assured, there was staff at the front desk 24/7 and nearby shops were even open late at night..things were still going on and made me feel more at peace. There's free breakfast to keep you from going hungry first thing in the morning. You can be as social as you want joining social activities (many of them are free such as yoga session, karaoke, walking tour, movie night, etc) or do things on your own (since it's so easy to get to places/get picked up by other tour companies if you chose to). Overall, such a wonderful place to stay. Great prices, too! I would look into staying at this place again for sure if I was looking for a hostel in Mexico City. P.S. even though the address says the place is located on Uruguay street, the front entrance is actually on Bolivia street around the corner (look for their pink neon sign).

However, I didn't know the private suite I booked shared a wall with the hostel bar, and is located next to a busy street. It is *incredibly* loud. Between the honking and sirens from the street and bar noise, it is impossible to sleep. Either book the most expensive suite, which is on the other side or the cheaper junior suite on a different floor.

The driver, Armando, arranged with the hotel, was waiting for us as we exited the terminal. 15 minutes prior to our arrival at the hotel and after exchanging some pleasantry, the driver handed us a cocktail menu to select drinks prior to our arrival. Upon arrival, the valets quickly assisted with our luggage and directed us to the front desk where we were greeted warmly by the staff. As the receptionist completed our registration, a lovely woman by the name of Mariel arrived with our drinks. Mariel and the valet showed us to our room; 104. I highly recommend getting the breakfast package, as the food and service were impeccable. Taynet, Miriam, Alejandro, and Lucia were an absolute delight. Every morning we were greeted with a warm, friendly, smile, and shown to the table of our choice. The food was excellent. The freshest fruits and breads, the eggs, waffles, chilaquiles, and French toast all of the highest order. The service provided by the staff mentioned was without reproach. On one of the days, the concierge, Miguel Angel, was kind enough to give us a tour of the historical building and provided us the rich history of the building in all of its inceptions. A fascinating history indeed. Another day, Friday, I had to take an important, emergency meeting for work. Mariel, the hotel's concierge, made the concentrated effort to provide me a private conference room for which to take my business meeting...compliments of the hotel. Lastly, I cannot speak more highly of the attention to service provided by staff at The Brick Hotel. You see, the hotel is a boutique hotel, meaning--there are only 17 rooms. As such, the staff have an opportunity to know each guest by name. As my husband and I discovered as we were always greeted by our names "Don Osvaldo", "Don Luis". I had never experienced this before at any other luxury hotel I had stayed at. All in all, we are happy and delighted with our stay, worth every penny. We will definitely return next year.
