A friend told us about this place and it happened to be the weekend that they were having their once a month sale (all books were $.39 instead of $.99). Bring your patience and a jacket. They are located inside a giant warehouse so no heating or cooling. Parking was a bit tight (in the little section off to the right of the entrance) as it gets busier on a Saturday afternoon. But there is additional parking, just not as close to the entry. The selection is huge, especially the children's books. I do wish the adult books were more organized and categorized. But for cheap, used books I am willing to go on a treasure hunt! Will be back! read more

Online Buyers Beware! We are Literacy Connects, a non-profit in Tucson, AZ. We orders 35 boxes of books from Fifth Street Books in November. The charges appeared on our credit card immediately. However, we only received 7 boxes out of the 35. Numerous emails and phone calls were never answered. No voicemail available. We are still awaiting 28 boxes of books for which we have paid $1,652!! read more

Just received my box of 25 books for readers K-5th grade, and it's great!! They hand pick books for specific age groups and send them to you, while making it entirely affordable (plus free shipping). I was unsure what they would send, but I received crowd pleasers like Beverly Cleary, Boxcar Children, Captain Underpants, and even an American Girl! There were also plenty of picture books :) When purchasing online, there's a section for requests if you have any specific books you would like for them to add. I asked for a few and they were so awesome to include all of them! At the bottom of the box they even threw in a small parcel of extra books!! I appreciate their time and effort in curating these boxes for students while making it reasonably priced. While purchasing they only take PayPal and the shipping/receiving time took about 2 1/2 weeks to arrive. Definitely will recommend to anyone looking for good books for their class or kids. read more

If you love books (used).... Fifth Street Books is a great stop for book lovers. We became regulars when we lived in the area. Now we drive two hours every few months. One reviewer complained of the lack of AC and the disorganization, but with thousands of titles all under $1 - a small bit of inconvenience is not an issue. I have found great collectibles for my library. My wife finds great supplemental books for her high school class. Every Thursday there are a number book dealers looking for inventory. So if you love books, if you have time to look, and can survive a visit without AC - you will love Fifth Street Books. read more

A horror of a bookstore. No air-conditioning, so guaranteed to be stuffy and swelteringly hot -- and even worse in the summer months. There seem to be lots of books (though many identical copies of the usual common beach reading titles), but there is no attempt at organization. They're just haphazardly stacked in, for the most part, no order at all. It's a terrible experience. After a few minutes of frustrating searching in the heat, I forgot what I was looking for; after a few more minutes, I forgot how to read. The books are very inexpensive. But, good luck finding anything. The complete and total lack of concern for customers is very off-putting. read more

This was my second time ordering book bundles, first time was great and quick: would have given full stars after that experience. Decided to order again based upon that level of service. Unfortunately, they left off important address information causing a shipment that took nearly three weeks, to be returned to sender. Sent an email requesting refund: no response yet. Called to inquire about said email: no apology, just a statement that someone "should" return my email. Wow! Thanks for the help. I love this bookstore! They have anything and everything under the sun, and more. Huge bins of kids books, mysteries, cozies and Hard Covers. They have aisles for Resources, Religion, Cookbooks and Health. You never know what you will find. I've found long sought-after books I couldn't find anywhere else, and quite a few new to me authors as well. They even carry music books which I use for craft projects. They have a great SciFi/Fantasy section, which many used bookstores don't have, or they have very slim pickings. They have a .25 sale every month. Yep, every book in the place is .25! I picked up 26 books this past week for $6 and change. You can't beat that anywhere! Easy to find, though the parking can be tough when they are busy. It is not Air conditioned, but they do have huge fans going to keep you cool while you peruse the stacks. The employees are great and will help you out if needed. Though, Mr. James Patterson, the resident bookstore kitty, can be a tad disinterested if you wake him from his nap :) This is a must see place, different every time and you will not walk away emptyhanded or disappointed. read more

Our non-profit that provides books to low-income families ordered over $2,000 worth of books over two months ago. 5th street charged our credit cards, kept our money and has only shipped $400 work of merchandise. They currently own us just over $1,600. They don't answer their phone, their voicemail is always full, and they don't respond to emails. I can only assume they have no intention of holding up their end of the transaction. We are in the process of disputing these transactions with the credit card company. Such a shame to use non-profit money to fund your for-profit business. read more

This store is amazing! I live in Michigan and I recently visited family in NC. We visited Fifth Street Books while I was there and I came back to MI with 35 books! Great place with super friendly workers. It can get a bit hot since it is in a fsctory. In the summer wear shorts and short sleeves and even in the winter dress lightly. You will be in here for hours looking at the huge wonderful selection of books. read more

My experience has been wonderful both times, with the owner Jerry even delivering a truckload of books himself to Virginia. Watching some of these kids, who have never had books to call their own, pick out their very first books to call their very own, is a great experience. This was my first experience dealing with this book store and it will be my last. I was told about this book store because the books were cheap. Well, customer service is horrible. I ordered my books on August 02, 2017 and I have emailed them 3 times with no answers.
