My new favorite tattoo shop!! I've had several pieces done by the amazing Laura, who's nestled upstairs among bright turquoise walls and her beautiful flash sheets (some of which are for sale). Everything is clean and freshly sanitized. She plays rad music and has candy and stickers for her clients! She's getting more and more popular (duh) so not always available for a drop in piece. I'm giving this place a one star because this tattoo artist named Marco Mendoza that works there is absolutely disgusting and unprofessional I was at the shop telling him what I wanted tattooed and he asked me if I'd go to a hotel with him to smoke meth and he said how sexy I am and how he'd love to have sex with me in different positions and not in those words. I was stunned and disgusted I'll never visit this tattoo place again and of course I didn't want him to tattoo on me after that he must of been high on meth at the time. read more

Took my daughter and niece for their 1st tattoo to this place, clean and safe location. We've heard a lot of good comments about "smurf" and he was GREAT. Very very nice caring ,honest and very humble. He kept asking the girls if they needed a break ,some water or anything in general. Very clear in answering their questions, gave them his personal number for questions if they had more. You can tell he loves what he does and cares about his work. I got my first piercing (nose) done here a little over a year ago. I was 13 and still terrified of needles. Funny, right? I had looked up other places but all of them were either closed or didn't do piercings like i thought they did. Since my mom works in Rohnert Park, she was sick of driving around searching for a place to get pierced. So I finally found Fifth Sun close to her office. We walked in and were introduced by a large bald man with multiple tattoos, even on his head. I don't recall him actually telling us his name. He seemed kind of distant, but other than that was very friendly and helpful. He took us upstairs where he would be piercing me. Keep in mind I am terrified of needles, so it took me a good 20 minutes just to sit in the chair after crying for about 5 of them. He didn't judge me and was very nice. When i didn't like the original placement of the piercing, he erased the mark gladly and redrew it until i was satisfied. He laughed along with us as my mom made fun of me, but was in no way rude. It hurt more than expected but he was very nice. After, he told me everything i would need to care for my piercing. After a few months my nose formed a lump around the piercing. Me being 13, i was self conscious and tried to get rid of it. I took the piercing out before it was ready and it had already begin to close. I was very upset, but my mom was kind enough to take me back to Fifth Sun to get it tapered as he called it. He told me the lump i had was just scar tissue that had formed around it and i could have gotten rid of it with salt and tee tree oil. This time I went alone to get my nose repierced. I was terrified. It was the same man as before. He laughed with me, and let me practically claw at his arm while he pierced me without any attitude. It hurt pretty bad to get it tapered, but I'm glad I did it. He was very understanding about the whole situation and was kind. He then stuck my piercing right back in and told me what I needed to do if the scar tissue ever reformed. It happened a couple more times, but with the proper care it went away within 2 weeks and I haven't had a lump in probably 9 months. Overall a great experience and I would recommend it to any teenage girl who wants to pee themselves at the sight of a needle. I am now 15 and still very satisfied with my piercing. Great place to go for first timers. read more

We are from Redding, CA and we were meeting our long time friend in Petaluma for a girls weekend. We all decided to have friendship tattoo done but since we aren't from this area we hit Yelp. Gabby looked at all the reviews, pictures and websites and we decided to call Fifth Sun Tattoo and make an appointment. We were set up with Robert (Ribit) and emailed him some of our ideas. We all decided on owl tattoos. When we arrived to the shop we were greeted by the shop owner (The other Robert) and treated like we mattered. Very friendly, helpful, offered us beverages and even offered to get us food. Ribit finished out sketches and Gabby was very particular in what she wanted and Ribit never got frustrated. Once we were all happy with our drawings we headed up stairs to his tattoo station. Montina was first and decided to wait on her owl since her family and boyfriend was giving her shit so she got a small heart on her inner toe (ouch). She didn't even flinch. Ribit was impressed. Linsie was next. She decided on a colorful owl on her inner left forarm with Friends Forever written around it. Ribit did an amazing job! His lines are clean and his colors and blinding are LIGIT! Robert came up to Check on us girls and said ouch the inner forearm is another sensitive spot and Linsie took it like a SAVAGE. 2 hrs later it was finally Gabby turn. She got a hippy owl tattoo on her right upper arm. Ribit never complained once even though he had an ear infection. Gabby was a BEAST! The shop is clean, friendly and inviting. Professional, clean, comfortable and the staff made you feel right at home. I had a tattoo that was originally done by someone else that needed some work and color. We set an appointment, I couldn't sit through a long session because i am a sissy lala and that was no problem for the artist (Ribit), he scheduled me for a later date to finish and the second time was just as pleasurable as the first. They are very professional here, clean, and do great work.
