Tall Corn Inn - It looks decent from afar but up close, you're getting what you say for. Move on. Spend $100 next door I wish I did.

If you ever find yourself in Shenandoah, Iowa and need a place to stay, you know that your choices…read moreare pretty limited. I was in town to run the Wabash Trace Marathon and I booked a room at this place because they had an affordable rate per night. The lady at the front desk was fast and friendly. She got me checked in and ready to go in a snap. The room was a pretty clean motel room, with clean sheets and clean towels. It also came with a microwave and a small fridge. The room had a rustic feel to it. There's a nearby Hy-Vee supermarket just down the street if you need to buy some drinks and snacks. There's also a McDonald's as well if you need something quick to eat. Overall, it was a super convenient location for a one night stay. However unlikely, I would not hesitate to stay here again if I'm ever in Shenandoah again.

I didn't arrive until 11 p.m. on a Sunday, but the clerk was there, ready to get me into a room and give me some touristy tips for the area. He was very friendly and the owner, I believe. I checked into the room and was a bit surprised at how nice it was. The bed felt like a luxury with a super soft comforter and pillows. The room came with a fridge, microwave and hair dryer. The neat thing about the rooms is that each one has its own theme. I happened to get the I Love Lucy suite. I say suite since I had a king sized bed and a lounge chair. On top of all this, it was also the lowest priced lodging option in the area. Highly recommended!

This hotel is only a 2-star? It's a premium 3 star experience if you ask me…read more There is a heated pool and low cost laundry service available. Seating near the pool is great for those not looking to swim. There is even an small outdoor area. The complimentary breakfast offered by this hotel is great. I could tell it was very well managed and staff enjoyed talking to guests. Honestly, it's so good that it makes the breakfast options at even more expensive Kansas City hotels look very poor. The rooms were clean and while not needed, it was great to see the accessibility options the hotel has in tub shower (even non-handicap rooms). The complimentary fridge, safe, and closet were nice amenities. My wife booked this stay and I'll admit, at first I thought I had some better options in town -- but this stay was a very pleasant surprise. I plan to stay here from now on when I visit. It was a great stay with kids.

Bagels, English muffin, different kinds of bread available. There is a pancake machine but I didn't like that as much. Warm cinnamon rolls, eggs, bacon and sausage also available. Milk, juice, coffee and water for drinks. All for free. Staff is attentive to make sure nothing runs out. Lots of places to sit and enjoy breakfast. Rooms are clean. TV is a good size and uses Direct TV so lots of channel options, including HBO. Bed and pillows are comfortable. Pillows are king size with firm and soft options. Fitness center is really small and usually quite warm but it does the job. I found a nice country road to run, just past the Kawasaki plant, which I prefer instead.

Check in took 2-3 mins and the owner/proprietor was friendly and very sweet trying to make us and our stay a happy one. He proudly told us about the hotel and his family that runs it (deep ties to military, law enforcement, and community). You can tell the family really cares about providing good stays for their patrons and love their hotel and proudly care for it by attending to every detail. The price was reasonable and the room is a good size, clean, everything works well, no smell, no bugs, no issues, there is nice tv programs with lots of viewing options, and the owner knew lots of local eateries and gave great recommendations. We got settled in our room and visited Quacker's to eat (which I enjoyed & recommend too) then went back to our hotel room to our comfortable queen beds. After driving 360 miles, a comfy bed is so appreciated! Bedding is soft and clean with nice pillows. The room is nicely stocked and clean. In the room we had a desk, table to dine at, multiple chairs, dresser with nice deep drawers, wood hangers and rack to hang coats and clothes, lots of lighting options, side tables, phone, the light blocking curtains, luggage butler, fresh towels, toiletries, a large tv with remote, individually packaged cups and an ice bucket, blow dryer, a separate sink area private bathroom, and a working ac and heater unit. The room had Everything we needed and wanted! There is a fridge in the room hidden in the dresser behind a false door, and there are 2 microwaves in common areas and an ice machine which served us just fine. There was zero sound from outside the room heard which provided a private and peaceful stay. The Internet worked spot on so my kid could access their online school work. If you are in the area Audrey's Motel is the place to stay! A big thank you to the owner and their family for the great experience. We loved your hotel!
