There was so many different elements to Arbor Day! First we checked out the Apple House Market, and grabbed dinner at Porters, we had the Mac n cheese, apple slushies, and brisket sandwiches! I want to go back and try the corn bread and burrata! After dinner we walked back and check out the "All Hallows Eve" Halloween attraction at the Tree Adventure area! After walking through that we went across the way to a candle light tour of the Morton House! Arbor Day is only a 45 minute drive from the Omaha metro area, and everyone should check out all the updates they have been doing with their new chef, who came and chatted with us during dinner!

Perfect mix of outdoor adventure that both kids and adults will enjoy! Paired with the Lied Lodge was perfection. I hope to be back in the fall. Only thing missing is a good coffee shop

stopped in for a cider tasting before lunch at timber's. Very busy however the service was friendly love the modern farmhouse style. comfy and cozy spot. picked up a new cookbook and apple cider to take home. I always love this spot and love sharing it when I have guest come to town.

We visited Arbor Day Farm for the Applejack Festival this year, and it's a ton of fun for the family, kids, and even just adults who are kids at heart. For an example, they have a "Tree Adventure" course that a lot of kids love to do, but I love it just as much and I have no kids :-) There is also lots to do including visiting the Arbor Lodge State Historical Park (where you can tour the Arbor Lodge Mansion/Morton Mansion), or enter a recipe contest, wine tasting, and more. And of course, the main reason we visited: Apples! Our favorite treats this year were the apple donuts, cider slushies, and apple butter. There were tons of food trucks to visit during the festival, including Thai food, cinnamon rolls, and many more. You can also make the small trek over to the Lied Lodge to have a bite there (we did, and it was fabulous!) I think visiting during the annual Applejack Festival is a good idea, but checking out Arbor Day Farm for any other event, or just to visit the vineyard and historical sights - you can't go wrong!

Visited Arbor Day Farm for a conference, and absolutely loved my stay! It seemed more like a retreat/vacation rather than a work event. Arbor Day Farm is surrounded by beauty and serenity, and much to explore! Staff was helpful and friendly. My favorite parts from the farm was the Treehouse Adventure and the on-site restaurant, Timbers, so yummy! If you are in Nebraska or close by and looking for a family friendly place for a weekend getaway, Arbor Day Farm is your place!

The Tree Adventure at Arbor Day Farm is currently by reservation only to schedule spacing during COVID. Masks are required in the common areas prior to entering the trails and tree house. Admission is $13 for adults, $11 for children. Hours are 9-5 Tuesday-Thursday and 9-7 Friday and Saturday. Sunday follows the 9-5 schedule. Now for the fun! We heard squeals of delight from the play area as soon as we entered the tree adventure and as we moved closer observed two large groups of area school children. As we moved further into the tree adventure a peaceful quiet became the norm. We were greeted by a guide outside the tree village where we took rope bridges and swinging trails to climb into the top canopy of the forest. Some trails are mulch, others are paved and ADA compliant. Public restrooms, concession stands, benches, play areas and learning experiences are all built into the adventure. The area is immaculate. The restrooms clean and the support staff is helpful and friendly. Fall colors were in abundance, parking was plentiful and the whole experience was memorable--in a good way. If you are looking for a positive outdoor experience with a little structure and plenty of fresh air, this place will wear the kids (and adults) out and you will sleep well after a visit!

This place is such a fun family adventure! My family has been going annually since I was a baby and we still keep the tradition going. We stop by the gift shop first, there's a also a small restaurant attached. We all meet here and then eat or sometimes use their tables for our picnic. After there's the tree adventures, with all kinds of fun activities along the walk for the whole family. Sometimes there's special events going on as well and there will be a table or things set up. For example, an apple cider making demonstration or axe throwing. Then there's also a small theater playing shows and a gift shop attached to the tree adventure area as well. Finally, across the street there's trees, trails, and the old mansion and garage which are all fun to explore and walk around.

My friend and I took our children to the Arbor Day Farm/Treehouse Adventure and had a blast for 4+ hours! Ages for kids were 1, 2, 4, 5, and an 8 year old and we all had fun (well the 1 year old mostly observed and snacked). I haven't been to the Arbor Day Farm in about 8 years and a lot has changed. We went on a Monday (a holiday for us) early in the day (9:30 and they open at 9 a.m.) and there weren't many people at all. Which we preferred. However, lots of school groups started showing up a little later. I was worried we'd be super crowded but we were able to pace it out so we were pretty much right before that group. It worked out well. The first stop in the Treehouse Adventure (besides the bathroom, make sure you stop here first because there's isn't one until the Treehouse!) was the outdoor classroom. This was by far our kids favorite spot. There were hammocks for relaxing and climbing, outdoor musical equipment, a shed with wood and a wheelbarrow to build, there was a water feature which my two year could not get enough of, a messy area with sticks and stumps, and a create art area with pieces of wood and such. I loved it because there was a lot to do for everyone AND there is just one entrance/exit so my friend and I were able to park near the front and let the kids explore (with a few minor interventions). It was delightful! I wish I had this in my own backyard or a park like this in Lincoln! We'd never leave. The next area we came upon had a beehive (but I think it was too cold for bees, we went in mid-October), an oversize spider web which was also fun for most of the kiddos (my two year old didn't like this one), a zip line (also too big for my two year old but they all enjoyed taking turns and watching each other). It bugged me a little that parents were allowing their children to go over and over and not take turns, so I guess my advice is if you see it's open, get there before a bunch of other kids do but be kind enough to take turns when others do show up. There was also a seesaw that got lots of love from our kids. Then there was a slide that shoots right into the trees. They land right before a woody embankment with a path back up to the top. All ages LOVED this and did it over and over and over. It looks a little nerve wracking at first but it's fast, curvy, and then slows in just enough time to get off without falling. It was a hit! Even my friend took her baby down in her arms but she said it was a little bit snug so probably not made for adult behinds. :) After this area is the Treehouse! What an adventure. I personally wasn't a big fan of the high, wobbly, netted bridges of chaos but the kids loved it! I went in because I was worried we'd love track of the kids but the entrance and exit are also very close together. In fact, we pulled our strollers over to the patio (which is nearby the original treehouse) and had lunch. I love that we are able to bring in our own food. In fact, there really isn't any food available except for the apple market near the parking lot. Saves on costs! There are a lot of different bridges with different footings, some have steps, some have wood planks, others have logs. There is also a bouncy area somewhere in the midst of all the bridges. You really do feel like you're lost among the trees. It was a really fun experience. Thats the basic overlay of how the activities lay out but again, you can spend a lot of time at each one. They are large wooded areas so the children could roam around within parental view. I loved it. After this you could opt to go pick apples or explore one of the activities you loved most. We ended up going back to the outdoor classroom for another hour. It was glorious. My two year old LOVES being outside. I'm glad I brought a back up outfit though, because eventually he ended up in the water feature and soaked from head to toe. Things to note: - The woman selling tickets didn't really offer up any advice so if you have questions, ask! They don't have maps but it's easy to figure out. We missed out on the Tree Adventure Discovery Ride (additional $5 one hour trip around the farm) because it wasn't very obvious where that was or that it was only at 1 p.m. on weekdays. - Two and under are free! Adults are $12, children 3 and up are $10. - Don't forget to check out the greenhouse for your free seedling. - For apple picking, you return to the gift shop and purchase a bag to fill. You pay per bag, not by weight. The minimum bag size is $9. - Also, we were there on a Monday (maybe it's different on weekends) and there was no rack ride to the orchard. After 4+ hours running around after kids and lugging around a wagon, I was not the least bit interested in hauling them down to the orchard. It would have been really great to have a ride down there. So, we opted to not pick apples. Kids were a little bummed but they were tired too. All-in-all this was an AWESOME place to visit and we will be back for many years to come.

Dozens of different apple varieties to choose from- sold in half pecks, pecks, and bushels. Or pick your own!

What a great way to get outside, enjoy trees, and their fruits. Our pre-teen grands loved it, almost as much as we did.

Staff were wearing masks but absolutely never enforcing mask-wearing for visitors. I had to say no to my toddler who wanted to play on everything because no other families were wearing masks- we only saw one other masked group the whole time we were there. And besides not wearing masks, no one seemed to believe in personal space either. So they playground, the tire hill, the eating area, the trikes, and the hay ride were all completely inaccessible due to a lack of care for health and safety. I saw people putting them on just briefly to go check in, to go in the cafe, and to check out, but that's absolutely it. We were able to do the corn maze, the butterfly garden, the orchard, and the pumpkin patch, but it was hit-or-miss, no one was polite enough to give a safe distance while they walked around maskless. As far as the quality of the stuff we were able to experience- the corn maze was perfect for kids, the butterfly garden was gorgeous even this late in the season, and the orchard was a nice peaceful walk. The pumpkin patch, however, was a disappointment- I inspected at least 50 pumpkins and only found three that weren't broken open and cracked. It's only $5 per person and that gets you $2 off your purchase at the end so maybe we'll come back another time if/when it's safe but for now they've earned my 2 star rating for not being firmer about trying to save lives.

This was our first visit to Nelson's Farm for the Strawberry Festival, and overall we had a very…read moregood experience. Originally, we planned to come just to pick strawberries because we had seen information online that led us to believe that was an option without attending the full festival. When we arrived, however, we learned that picking strawberries required purchasing full festival admission. Weekend tickets were $20 per person, with adults and children paying the same price. I think clearer communication on the website, social media, and at the farm itself regarding admission requirements would help set expectations. Since we ended up purchasing festival admission, we decided to explore everything the event had to offer...and there was quite a bit. The atmosphere reminded me a little of Valas Pumpkin Patch, but with a more relaxed, family-owned feel. In some ways, it felt more like the Valas I remember from growing up. Nelson's offers plenty of activities, but it still feels authentic and community-focused rather than highly commercialized. There were several giant slides, jumping pillows, farm animals to pet and feed, a playground, a corn pit, football and basketball games, and many other activities for kids. I imagine many of these attractions are available throughout the season, not just during Strawberry Festival. One thing they did especially well was the festival theming. There were adorable strawberry-themed photo opportunities throughout the property, cute displays, and thoughtful decorations. In the café and market, they had strawberry garlands, themed signs, and all sorts of strawberry-inspired merchandise. The market was particularly well done, with everything from strawberry candies and treats to strawberry-themed hair clips, keychains, cups, and other fun items. Like many farms, they offer a tractor-pulled ride out to the strawberry fields, which was much appreciated. The strawberry patch itself was larger than I expected. Some areas had been picked over, but there were still plenty of good berries if you took your time and looked around. It took my family of three about 30 minutes to pick roughly 1 1/2 pounds. We were told the berries are smaller this year because they're June-bearing strawberries, but they were incredibly sweet and flavorful. At $4 per pound, the pricing felt very reasonable for fresh local strawberries and comparable to what I'd expect to pay at a farmers market. One area for improvement would be adding more shaded seating for parents. Some of the attractions--particularly the large slides and jumping areas--have limited shade and seating nearby. We visited on a hot, humid Nebraska day, which isn't exactly unusual, so a few more places for adults to sit comfortably while supervising children would make the experience even better. I also appreciated seeing several American flags displayed around the property. It's always nice to see that sense of patriotism and community pride. Finally, every employee we interacted with was friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The staff genuinely seemed focused on creating a positive customer experience and maintaining the feel of a family farm. They do a very good job of that. Despite the confusion regarding admission, we had a fun day, picked some fantastic strawberries, and would absolutely consider visiting again.

The admission price is worth it for how many attractions there are here, and there is truly something for every age! Upon entering the farm, you are greeted with tons of cute decorations, garland, and photo ops, which are super fun and make the experience all-encompassing. I also thought they did a great job with signage since I was on the hunt for the tulips! There were two main sections for tulips: U-Pick, and for viewing only. Along my way to the decorative tulip fields, I was greeted by the cutest llamas and cows, and there were tons of adorable farm themed toys and set-ups, which would make this a great place to bring your family. The tulip fields alone were worth this visit. They were absolutely magnificent and there was such a gorgeous variety. Even with difficult weather, they still looked pristine and it didn't even feel like I was in Nebraska anymore! I used to live along the border of Germany/the Netherlands (where tulips are famed to grow) and I have seen many tulip attractions throughout my life, and Nelsons was still one of the best and most enjoyable experiences. I also chose to do U-Pick, which I regretted only because of the freezing weather, high winds, and my choice to wear a sundress, none of which is Nelsons fault. If the weather had been better this would be such a fun experience, and I still enjoyed browsing for the prettiest flowers. After picking a small bouquet, I made my way to the Farm Market, which was a huge shop full of everything from local products, foods, and goods, to Tulip Festival merch and fun mementos. There was also a small cafe where I got an iced coffee and took a moment to relax and enjoy the moment. I also ended up buying a small Schleich chicken figurine as a souvenir, and everyone who worked at Nelsons was incredibly sweet and friendly. I will absolutely be returning in the future and recommending this experience to everyone I know!
