Our kids just recently started attending this school. Instructors are great, students are great. My kids love this school!

Absolutely horrible experience here. After leaving I had such a sickened feeling…read more I genuinely felt disgusted by what happened and watching how the instructors were "teaching." They use corporal punishment as a means of discipline. If your child makes 1 mistake, "gets bored and dozes off for a second, puts their hands in their pockets, asks for a drink of water, or doesn't respond immediately with a "yes sir", (so basically acts like a kid at all), then they will make your child, "drop down and give me 10!", like they are literally training for boot camp in the military. They have innocent children as young as 6 years old doing this and being treated this way on their very first day as a form of punishment (not strength training or fitness). Immediately teaching these children to associate having a negative response and associateion around physical exercise because they are using it as a form punishment here. Which is literally illegal in the state of Colorado. (And if you don't believe me then Google it.) Children also aren't allowed to get water or use the restroom here, and, if they ask, they will be immediately told no, scolded, and then told to wait until after the class ends to get a drink or go to the bathroom. None of the kids here looked like they were genuinely having a good time or like they were having any bit of fun or enjoyment at all. All of the kids here looked sad, scared, unhappy, confused, and generally just miserable. A few of the kids even got yelled at and scolded for barely even just laughing hardly at all while they were standing in line. So basically this is not the place to send your kid if you actually want them to have a positive or happy expierence while also learning a martial art because this is not a positive, safe, loving, or encouraging learning environment at all-- its basically like a military drone program. But it's also not even just your child's emotional well-being that is at risk here but also their physical safety as well. Proper body dynamics and awareness of your own physical safety or the safety of the person next to you was never once discussed by instructors during this entire class. 2 of the kids were injured during class and walked off crying during the class because they actually did get physically hurt, "doing their karate moves", when the truth is they were never even properly instructed or taught them in the first place. This place is generally just an extremely hazardous place, is a major red flag, and basically is just walking liability. If your child gets physically injured here I generally honestly wouldn't even be surprised as the instructors here do not seemed to be too concerned about prioritizing childrens safety by any means (mental or physical) while simultaneously preaching self control and integrity. I would never recommend this place to anybody and genuinely this place needs to be evaluated because there are some seriously messed up teaching methods happening here. Somebody's kid is going to get seriously injured and hurt here and it will be due to gross negligence of the instructor/instructors and the environment here. The gym is also extremely hot, small, and poorly ventilated. Which again is just another place of concern. And the scariest part about all of this is that the Montrose Rec district endorses this place. Please sit through a class here and watch this before enrolling your child/children here. And if you actually do, please pay attention. Don't just sit there and scroll on your phone. Watch and listen to how these instructors are actually treating/ "teaching" these kids. Because I did, and this my actual true testimate of what I witnessed and expierenced here and these are actual statements that were made by one of the instructors to the kids: "First rule here- "Keep your mouth shut". "If you're not here to pay attention-- don't come." "If you're not here to learn, "then leave". So basically their motto here is: Sit down, shut up, or leave. I will never send my child back here ever again. This place needs to be under formal investigation due to the MULTIPLE safety concerns and violations that this place poses.
