The Fika coffee shop is located down a quiet walking lane in the heart of Central Christchurch. They serve up coffee from nearby Heron Coffee Roasters (located inside the Riverside Market). It also houses Downtown Bagels so alongside their delectable and fluffy pastries, they had bagels and sandwiches on hand. A medium flat white was 5.5 NZD; it came out bold and perfectly steamed in a neat takeaway cup. They offered many an alternative milk, the owners being vegan friendly, but the standard milk in NZ produces the best micro foam and is too hard to pass up. Friendly staff makes up for the cramped shop. It is on a walking lane though so unless you're already wandering around and/ or going to work nearby, it is not a shop that you just pop into. read more
