The names all have a fun New York theme like Brooklyn Short Rib, Bronx Beef and Salmon on Broadway (except the Obama BLT, that was a random outlier). I opted for the NYD Cheesecake (last minute switch because they ran out of the Chicken SoHo) which is a seasoned flank stank (cooked more medium rare than dry and chewy) with chipotle BBQ (more bbq than chipotle) and cheese on top. I opted to add some veggies at the end of the line, too, as the service works much like a Subway store. I had my sandwhich on turkish bread, but there are two other options which both looked fantastic and fresh as well. I'm excited to go back and try some of the other options, but also, to arrive before 10:30 am and try some of their bagel creations. If there bagels are as good as their bread options, you won't be disappointed.

This is an important place for the namesake bird, the Kiwi. There is a building that is opposite our daytime. It is nighttime for the nocturnal Kiwis. The Reserve has five Kiwis. They hope the birds breed, and can be released. I saw one in the dim light. It was the size of a chicken. It ran back and forth on its path. We learned the females are large because they lay very large eggs. The long beaks are really their noses. The nostrils are at the very end. So they have a very short beak! In the Reserve the paths are paved. A few stairs are optional. Gift shop is nice. Recommend a stop here.

It has enough variety of NZ animals for you to view, some fairly close or in good view. In particular, the Kiwi bird area caught our attention. There is an area with a lot of longfin eels that you can reach out and touch! Ah, no thanks. The kea bird is in a special area, no photographs, though there are several glass cases showing its life cycle. There are two takahē species-flightless swamp hens native to New Zealand, almost wiped out late 19th century. It has a red beak, short wings, large feet and long toes.
