I was curious about this place, so when I was near Wentworthville I decided to stop in and check it out. In reality it's really just a medium sized grocery store with a small hair salon, food bar and travel agent tacked on, but it has all sorts of delicious goodies and everyday groceries from the subcontinent. Not being Indian I didn't know what most of the stuff was, but it's very large and spacious compared to your usual Indian/Asian grocery store, and having the food bar (with lots of yummy Indian snacks and small meals) is a plus as well. Only small thing to note is that the car park is a bit on the small size, i'd imagine it's difficult to find a space when it's busy.

IGA is like the younger, more modest version of Woolworths and Coles…read more Their stock has less variety than the other two supermarket giants, understandably, BUT (and it's a big 'but').. their prices are way lower, their produce is fresher (Woolworths 'the fresh food people', my arse) and, arguably most importantly, their staff are much, much friendlier. I'm not sure why Woolworths and Coles staff constantly act as though we're doing them a favour by shopping there.. but they do. IGA staff don't. IGA staff give you a bright smile, ask how your day was (as in, REALLY ask, and wait for an answer, rather than just rattled off some pre-determined sentence as instructed to by their superiors) and generally act like they give a hoot.

But here it was. Conveniently located to my hotel on the lower level of the mall ( another misnomer for me for I was told it was on the 2nd level, which I automatically assumed was upstairs and not down) plenty of fresh produce, lots of fresh deli items and even a number of drug store items. The check out was fast and effiencient and I loved that credit card orders under $35 do not require a signature. All in all super convenient, decent prices and a large selection for a city center location.

Disgusting. They sell items beyond food, but have the arrogance to say no refund, go spend your money in the store only. As if we don't spend enough and regularly. Whoever enforced that rule should be sacked. It might make your bottom line look better in the short term, but in the long term having such atrocious disrespectful customer service to regular customers, will see this company go down hill in the future. They think they are being smart, but they are actually creating long term business suicide. I know every company will take my money, but I watch to see if I return something how they treat me. Woolworths, you have a bad egg at the top of your food chain, with ZERO knowledge of customer service!!

It's always fun to wander around and look at items that might not exist in the states, but also admit that there are international items that you would not find in a standard US grocery store, but here would exist because of the large Far East Asian population. Some examples were Buldak hot chicken flavor ramen, salmanco frozen desserts. Also found frozen pelmeni (Russian dumplings), Went to the pet supply area, and saw a variety of dog treats, including one probably found only in Australia: Kangaroo tail disks. Supposedly, they are sourced from wild kangaroos that are culled to maintain their population.
