Walked in, the employee was working with some other gentleman, maybe for a special occasion and he asked if they could wait a moment while he assisted me quickly and efficiently. I had a vintage leather jacket that needed buttons. He recommended that I bring in my own. Side note, I stopped in at Tandy and they totally steered me wrong with the button replacement. Anyway, the gentleman at the final stich explained why they wouldn't work and he provided me with buttons anyway. I needed it pretty quickly and he expedited even faster. Asked to have the collar stitched back together, just join the two sides together. When I got it back the collar was reshaped and cut to bring the two sides together, one side of the neckline is now uneven. First picture is before, second is after. I really don't like giving bad reviews, but this was the worst customer service experience I've ever had, and it left a lasting impression. I visited this business because my colleagues and friends highly recommended it. First, he charged me an arm and a leg for the alterations. I understand that this is his business and an art form, and I am not an expert, so I didn't mind paying the price. However, after discussing prices with others, I learned that he charged my friend half the price for the same type of alterations. My friends and colleagues were baffled at how much I paid. We had agreed to pick up the dress a week before my event so that I could take it to the dry cleaner because it had a few stains. When I showed up on the agreed date, the owner told me, "Today is not the 13th." I let him know I was aware of that, but we decided I would pick it up early because my event was on the 13th, and I would be out of the city. He said it was a misunderstanding, which I accepted, but he didn't need to treat me so dismissively. He then said he would have my dress ready by Tuesday at the latest, which I found unacceptable. I asked for my dress back and for a refund. He said the dress was at his home because they do all the cutting there. He then offered to come in on Sunday to return my dress, which I appreciated since he was closed. I went in on Sunday to pick up my dress and request my refund. He then proceeded to tell me that he fixed it. "It's fixed; isn't that what you wanted?" he asked. NO. I wanted my dress and my money back. I was blindsided and felt gaslit; I couldn't believe what I was hearing. He didn't even offer to let me try on the dress, which I should have asked to do, but I just wanted to leave. He began pointing out the slight stains on the dress, which is precisely why I needed it back sooner to get it cleaned. After the alterations were made, the length was still long but manageable. The straps were shortened; however, the sides weren't altered and remained tight, despite the fact that I was charged for that alteration. This has been the worst experience. There is no accountability on his part for the "misunderstandings." I just wanted my dress to be altered well so I could move on with my day read more
