16 years ago I lost everything in a BK. I had a checking account with these guys and they closed it because they thought I was too high of a risk to keep on as a client. I had no loans with them, only a checking account. They closed it on me and I was forced to find another bank to take me in, at a very tough time in my life. My wife and I have been banking here for years, and it's been nothing but problems. This was our first credit union experience, and it was nothing like what our friends and family said about their unions. We have a joint checking and savings, personal loans and we had a car loan, so we're well versed in what they have to offer. Fpcu is supposed to be different from banks but they still have predatory fees, they're a cashless bank which is ridiculous and inconvenient. The app has issues all the time. They have been missing their ATM outside of the hb location for months. Considering they are a cashless bank it's so dumb that they haven't fixed that quicker. I'm so glad I found a real credit union they isn't cashless, doesn't have predatory fees, and has programs to help with financial literacy. If you're looking to open a new account go elsewhere if you're considering closing your account do it. I wish I had earlier. I'm so much happier with orange county's credit union. Compare the reviews of the two credit unions and you'll definitely see the difference. read more

Reopen this account after being closed for a few years. Opened up a free checking and savings while depositing a lot of money. Was never told about any fees. I assumed Free checking meant Free checking was shocked when my statement arrived they took three dollars out of my checking for sending me a statement by mail. I have never had another Bank do that, I asked Orange County's teachers credit union they said they don't do that. Hell even Bank of America doesn't charge me if you have a savings and a checking account very disappointed with this bank. read more

When I first joined FPCU they were very specifically and intentionally a credit union servicing Newport Beach, CA. Several years later, they inexplicably moved from their lovely new building to a strip mall in Huntington Beach (really Westminster). They left a very small but inaccessible desk inside of a semiconductor business near their original location, but despite their assurances that we could use it, that business would only allow employees access to the minimal services offered. Letters went out promising a second branch would be added to serve their original customers in Newport Beach. Since their motto had always been "Live-Work-Worship Newport Beach," this was a logical expectation. Needless to say, all these years later, while they have expanded to other locations, their original customer base was their lowest priority and they never returned. At one point we worked with a so-called "wealth manager" in the huntington office who left us with a very nasty taste in our mouths after he steered our money into some of his personal investment choices and intentionally misled us about a 1.75% service fee which he insisted did not exist (but in fact, did). We would have been better off leaving our money in a low-yield checking account. The gentleman in question had all the style and integrity of a used car salesman. We should have closed our account at that time. But while we felt like suckers, we assumed that this was a problem with the individual morals of the man himself and not the bank as a whole. Now the Huntington Beach location has been moved and is no longer a bank in any recognizable form. It is a sleazy-feeling, kafka-esque, McDonald's-style nightmare with nothing but a guard, ATMs, and a few awkward stations where you can talk to a "teller" via some sort of skype-like screen. The message to customers is "you are not worth bothering with." If FPCU has so badly mismanaged money they can no longer afford to treat customers like people, I can no longer in good conscience keep my money there. This argument that soon all banks will be like this is a complete myth; at a certain financial level there are many people who will still expect a minimum standard of human service. You might as well argue that soon all hotels will consist of pull-out plastic sleep drawers with quarter slots for payment. For those that feel ok with this type of thing, by all means, enjoy it. It's not for me. read more

I've been a member of this bank for around 5 years now and the service and vibe has remained consistent. Like any institution some parts are better than others but as a whole it's great. I've lived in Anaheim, Irvine, and Costa Mesa and managed to always get my needs met by this bank. They have an extremely useful phone app that has saved me from driving to one of their few locations- because of mobile deposit, alternate atms, and other credit unions that serve their customers. I frequent Huntington and orange. I read some of the reviews and was pretty disappointed in them. 1. This bank doesn't owe a city a branch because they used to have one. It clearly wasn't working out in Newport so they made changes. 2. Welcome to 2016...What has a teller in person ever done for you that the evil Skype teller cannot? Nothing. It's also not an indication of a problem with the "country" how dumb. Basically when I call them and need them to clear a check, they do. If I could get this company zero Stars I would I transferred my auto loan over to them to save just a few bucks would like a point lower APR for the past six months it has been nothing but hassle multiple occasions they say I don't have insurance I have emailed them insurance information my AAA has emailed them insurance information they overcharged my account by $2,000 then you speak with a manager there and they promise they'll call you back and they never do I have never had such horrible service in my life I have excellent credit I don't need this type of hassle they treat you like a criminal after I file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau my business is going elsewhere! read more

Worst experience ever with a financial institution. There was fraud on my account for over two weeks and they failed to notify me and when it got worse and they noted it they contacted me and then told me I need to monitor the account more closely. This is an account I do not use much and activity in Great Brittain and almost $1000 at a e commerce vape shop when I have never used the card out of the country and never had a $1000 transaction should have been flagged. Once I did call I got transferred from person to person and it seemed no one knew what they were doing. Once I get my money back this will be the end of my relationship with them. I will also notify my employer who endorses this credit union to stop. So frustrating. read more

If you're looking to be mistreated like a naive customer with a large, impersonal, commercial bank, then bank here. This credit union does all of the tricks that a large commercial bank does to generate fees at your expense. For example - they re-structure transactions to MAXIMIZE fees to customers, then deny it when called out. Debits clear instantaneously while deposits take their time. I am a former manager of a large commercial BANK here in AMERICA so I know how these institutions work. This credit union is a wolf in sheeps clothing. read more

I've been a member of a credit union almost my entire life and previously worked for a competitor of FPCU for over 7 years. In my experience with banking I've yet to receive the level of service anywhere that FPCU provides. They occasionally reach out with offers of their products that may help me, but it's never overbearing or any pressure. The website is convenient and the staff in the branches always provide great service. A huge plus for me is the availability of other credit union and 7-11 ATM's for free nationwide. read more

My father in law recently passed away and I have been busy calling all of his accounts and cancelling them. Almost every account has been accommodating and helpful. This is the only account he had that was difficult was this one. While my husband was on speakerphone speaking to Pam, I asked a question and she was very nasty to me saying, "um, I'm sorry I don't know who this is that I'm speaking with." Her tone was very condescending. All I was asking was how the bank would provide funds (i.e cashier's check). I was not asking specific information about the account, only a general question. Also, even after verifying my husband (the joint account holder), they refused to release the hold on the account for suspected fraud. Going down tomorrow to get all of the funds out to transfer to our account as there is no way we would continue to do business with an institution that treats a son that just lost his father this way! read more

First of all I would like to say that this review is not about the service I got..which was good. The "1 Star" is for the change to the bank itself. After a recent visit to this new office with my mom and daughter I was very disappointed in the lack of human attention I received. What I mean by that is there were "less" employees. The employees that did help us were very polite but seemed as though they were brain-washed into thinking their new way of serving their customers was the best "personal" way ever. (None of them had any time for bathroom breaks or lunches. This is what the young lady that helped us told me.) When my family and I first walked into this new location there were only three tables to the right of the room and only two ATM machines were standing to the left of the room. And to the back were private rooms enclosed in glass. The ATM's were futuristic looking where there should have been a teller; there was a "skype" type of screen with a "live" person... being the teller, who wasn't even present she was somewhere else. After being asked how they can assist me I told her the nature of my visit and she asked for me to take a seat...right near the front door of the bank? I let the hostess of the bank know that we needed more privacy and we were directed to a more confidential room which they called a "conference room" toward the back. It was see-thru built of thick plexi- glass. I noticed that each employee held a cell phone where they all would talk among themselves instead of face to face. During our lengthy conversation with one of the representatives I was told that "all" banks will become "digital" as Financial Partners is one of the first institutions that has advanced in this technology. She said that they have become more "personal". (Talking to a screen instead of talking to a human being up close and personal was "personal"? I felt sorry for the customers who just wanted to make a deposit/withdrawal.) My mom and I share an account with them but my mom had been with Financial Partners way before that...when it was called Rockwell Federal Credit Union. My opinion of FPCU's choice in changing to this "digital" type of banking..."YOU ARE GOING TO LOSE A LOT OF COMMITTED CUSTOMERS WHO ARE USED TO HAVING A MORE PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH THE TELLERS. My mother is 81 years old and insists that we should close our account. I pray for this Country of ours if this is the way it's going. read more

I really like this bank, I have used them for about 7 years now? I have never had any challenges with them, the staff is always nice. The 4 star is only because I don't like the new building they are in, the old one felt like a bank and classy, the new one is a little shady looking (like its still being built and not organized yet, I felt confused right when I walked in, and that is never good, especially when dealing with money, but again the staff is amazing and nice!) They only have the 1 other branch that I am aware of outside of HB, in Orange (main/glassell) but you are able to go to any credit union, but I personally prefer to go to "my" bank) They offer mobil check deposit, which is amazing! I have been using that since it came out, and I haven't had any challenges with it, and it took away from always having to drive to the bank to deposit checks (If you are a business owner you will understand) Good auto loan rates, have one, again no challenges there either read more
