Well, here it is, 2024...2 years later and the estate is no closer to receiving the refund than it was in March of 2022. After numerous communications with the IRS, we recently learned that the Social Security number that the Williams & Kunkle CPA used was incorrect. At this point, there seems to be little chance of resolving all of the problems this mistake has caused. Needless to say, I made a major mistake involving this firm in settling my sister's estate taxes.

Then I found out I would have to wait another week to find out more about your company. This entire interaction could have gone very differently had you or Beth been available to talk at any point on the day I called or the next. Instead of letting me know it would be another week before I could speak to anyone to find out more about your company. Do not hire Kedra as your CPA or Janet (who works for her) as your bookkeeper. I paid this firm over $10,000 for bookkeeping and tax-related services for my business, and I ended up having to catch and correct basic errors myself. I found wrong expense categories, personal accounts listed as business assets, retirement-plan money left on the balance sheet after it had already left the business, incorrect 1099s, and a serious 2024 tax-basis issue in work the firm prepared. When I asked them to explain the numbers they used and provide support for their own work, they would not clearly answer or back it up. They had all the documentation from me they would need to not make constant careless mistakes. I want to be very clear about one thing, because I expect they may respond by saying I was asking them to do historical work outside their scope. That is not true. I repeatedly told them I was not asking them to reconstruct old years or do a historical forensic project or even to explain anything to me that was not just about why they used the numbers they did. I was asking them to explain and support numbers their own firm used in 2024 work they prepared for me. That is very different. I tried to resolve this calmly and directly. Instead, I was talked over, dismissed, and even hung up on rather than given clear answers. Kedra often seemed too scattered or too busy to keep important facts, documents, and prior conversations straight, which made everything more confusing. What bothered me most was the lack of accountability. I caught error after error, and when I asked about them, they would change the item (proving I was correct that they were wrong) and never explain why it had been done that way in the first place even when I would ask where they were getting their data to keep making so many mistakes. These were not obscure issues. They were basic bookkeeping and compliance items, and they had the records needed to do them correctly. In my experience, this firm was unreliable, unprofessional, and not trustworthy with important financial work.

I hired Mary in early January to manage my business's financial records, expecting professional and…read moreaccurate bookkeeping. Unfortunately, she did not batch payments to each invoice as required. Instead, she made journal entries because she said "that is how we clear the deposits we cannot match to the bank statement". Of course they can be matched. That is not the correct method for keeping books for a small business. This approach may have saved her a lot of time, but it has caused significant issues for us. We had to undo all the deposits for the last 3 months, redo them, and match payments properly to ensure the records are accurate. This may be something that large corporations do but a small business must have accurate customer records. My last 2 bookkeepers (over a 25-year period) matched each payment with each individual invoice, correctly. I didn't want to leave this review, but Mary has refused to reimburse me for what I paid her for March books even though I am having to undue and redo all the deposits since the beginning of January when she began keeping my books. I have worked an extra 15-20 hours a week for a month to fix the books from Jan to now. I never would have hired Mary had I known she would think this was an okay practice. BEWARE!!! This experience has been frustrating and time-consuming. Proper bookkeeping is essential for maintaining accurate financial records, and shortcuts like these can lead to more work and potential errors down the line. Red Flags Galore! I…read morewas looking for a new tax and accounting firm so I decided to look into these guys. Up on reviewing their business I found some red flags and decided not to give them any of my business. 1. Closed on Fridays and sharing offices. This business was closed on a Friday when I went to their office since I was in their building. If you don't have enough work to stay in open on Fridays, something is wrong. May be that's why the hours aren't listed online. Someone was in the office so they opened the door anyway. They told me that they didn't work for the firm and they were sharing the office. Now, someone who shares a tax preparers office is a major no-no. There is a lot of confidential and personal information around. When I reversed searched their address in Google I can find a lot of businesses at the same address mainly counselors are working out of this address. 2. Not accountants or CPAs. These business doesn't seem to employ any accountant or CPAs per their website. They have one person listed as enrolled agent. That's not good enough for my needs. 3. Not enough employees: There only 4 employees listed on their website if you don't count the receptionist or the dog. Same thing with LinkedIn. 4. Holier than thou attitude. My correspondence suggested that there was a fundamental attitude issue with them despite the fact that anyone looking for an established and reputable business would pass on them.

Duke is charismatic but runs client credit cards without written estimates, contracts, or agreements for frivolous amounts ($50k each) that exceed anything a Big Four accounting firm would charge. Essentially charging you for services you don't need, want, or use--IN ADVANCE. He will do this privately without the usual procedures involving his client concierge or onboarding agents like Austin or Taylor. Blaming automated billing systems, merchant software, He will say whatever is needed to buy time. It appears as though misappropriated client funds are carrying his business and lifestyle. Everything is "5-10 business days" or "the card is showing as declined on my end". You would think that a licensed tax professional would run meticulous accounting on their business accounts--not here. You will have to pay another more reputable firm to correct everything. Spend countless hours disputing credit card charges. Etc. This is absolutely terrifying that someone like this has all of your most privileged information. Existing clients be sure to check your credit reports!! He is actively being investigated for credit card fraud, EA misconduct, BEWARE!!
