I would give negative stars if I could. First of all it had wasps and had to be sprayed befoe we could use it. Max speed with 3 people and one cooler is 5mph, but when a wake would come, we would not only take on water, but the boat would loose speed. Also, it kept dying and the motor was sputtering. We returned the boat early and plan on disputing it with the owners. Most of the kids at the marina were good about it, one kid was very cocky. As a boat owner of a pontoon most of my life, this was unacceptable. I have a video, but it's too long to upload. Please do not rent these boats, they are death traps. read more

Findlay Marina is a wonderful place. The staff is friendly, competent and they charge a fair price. The boat slips are numerous, large, clean and well maintained. We keep a 27' cabin cruiser there that has needed a fair amount of work, particular,y year one. It runs like a top now, (he said, knocking on wood.) The lake is big, clean and offers many quiet private coves. There are suppliers and restaurants nearby, too. A good place. read more

This place was absolutely terrible. They rented us a busted and broken pontoon and when we asked about getting another one, the answer they gave us is that was the only one left. The staff was rude and so was the front desk people. I would never recommend going to this place or using their services. read more

Terrible place to keep your boat if you have a nice boat. Because of the poor conditions and lack of maintenance, I left last year mid-season. This was after all dock fees paid in full in advance. Gave notice to old owners after they refused to fix utilities (no power for half the season). So I'm not their customer anymore, did not renew contract. Problem is, new owner called about 150 times asking if I want a slip "Just to be sure". He keeps sending fake $2900 bill for 2021 season well into July, after they were notified last year I'm not coming back - EVER. He knows i did not renew contract. He knows it cancelled last year. I called him to stop, and he said "I was just trying to get your attention." Well you got my attention in a bad way. I will NEVER have anything to do with this organization ever again. Some people say new owners are good, I say don't get involved with this stalker. Just stay away. Even if you don't believe me, the lake water is nicer on the South end anyway. read more

I'm writing this review based off of the lake, the party barge experience. My family and i rented a party barge for labor day and it was as good as it gets! We rented a party barge which had grills and a porta john which was absolutely awesome!!! I hate porta johns but i was very shocked on how clean this one was!! they sure do clean up after each party which is awesome! The lake was very nice and gorgeous! only downfall is that they make you pay for the gas whenever you return the boat. i think it's dumb considering they charge $500+ for the barge, it should be included but that's just my opinion anyways. our family decided that this could be our annually thing to do every labor day/summer. read more

I have had nothing but issues since I have rented a slip here. The staff is rude and unprofessional and acts like everything is an inconvenience. The people who have slips around me are wonderful but feel similar from the ones I've talked to over the past few months. I like the location but that's not enough to get me to return here. That being said the people that work in the actual marina building have been absolutely amazing. Will never use this company again and will not recommend to anyone. The process for reserving a boat in advance is archaic at best. When you arrive at the marina, there are no clear instructions as to where the office for boat rentals is. Once you find it, there is a bunch of kids (14-18 years old?) running the office. When my 12 person group and I got on the boat (commander series pontoon boat number 3, 14 person capacity) and started to travel, the boat barely moved through the water, nevermind trying to travel into a head wind. When travelling at anything more than about 1/3 throttle, if we would have more than three people in the front of the boat, it would dive into the water and cover the entire deck of the boat, soaking everything we had brought. The only way to stop it was to cease all forward motion and wait for the water to run off then try moving forward again. It did this every time we turned as well. No change in engine trim seemed to help. It seems that not only is this company crap, but their boats are as well. Almost everything on the boat we were given was broken. The horn on this boat did not work (which is required on boats by Illinois state law), the voltmeter did not work, the gas gauge did not work, and the hour meter did not work. The only thing that worked on this boat is that the engine ran well, although as mentioned before it was hardly enough to push the boat against a head wind. The seats on this boat were thin and hard, and not the typical pontoon style that have storage underneath. These looked like park benches with padding. Upon our return with the boat, we asked who we could talk to regarding all the problems. When we found the "manager" Elsie, she said she could not help us and we had to talk to the owner. So I requested the owner. Elsie did not know where the owner was. We asked her to call the owner, she did not know the owner's phone number. We asked for a time when the owner was typically around the office. Of course, she did not know that either. It was quickly becoming apparent that we were not going to be helped, our complaints would not be heard, and reparations were not going to be given. The only reason this review received one star is because i could not give it zero. Next holiday weekend, you may wish you had rented a boat when standing from shore, but when you're on this boat you'll wish you were on shore with your hard earned money still in your pocket. Do not take any boat here for repairs. I'm a local and dropped my boat off for some work. I specifically stated I want estimates and call me for approval on anything. I approved a starter and a fuse which was quoted a specific amount on the phone. I get there the next day to retrieve my boat and find out the bill was twice the amount with what they had quoted me. They claimed they did work that I didn't approve. They also swapped out and took my expensive special order plugs I had just bought. Then i found out later through another mechanic that they didn't even do what work they claimed to have done that wasn't approved. They even claimed running my boat for a good while with no issues when in fact it won't stay running. They overlooked things that needed attention that were in plain sight as to carb leaking like a river, missing carb gaskets, throttle cables not working correctly etc. The receptionist was very rude on phone and in person. read more

Absolutely horrible establishment. When our party of 15 arrived for our appointment,we were told that our rental boat was broken and had to be towed in the night before. I don't understand why they wouldn't have called to let us know. They said the boat would be ready within the hour and we should just wait. After the hour, the boat was still not ready so they just cancelled our reservation. Their boats are old and broken down and the management is completely incompetent. read more

We reserved the party barge by phone in March to have Aug 11 for the day, we had 21 people (Our children and grandchildren). when we went in to rent the boat the young told us that life jackets were provided, however they were for emergency only and if they were wet when brought back we would be assessed an addition $10.00 charge for each jacket that was wet. The lady told us that we were told that when we reserved the barge, I told her we were not told and would not have rented from them if we were. We have done party barges for 3 years and this is the first I had heard of any of that. To no avail. we had 8 small children and some came from as far as Tennessee for this outing. The rental duration was until 7 in the evening, we decided to turn it in at 5:00 Pm. The young lady felt all of the jackets and assessed us another $100 for wet jackets. I told her that we had 2 hour remaining of our rental, it was 85 degrees nice breeze and sun shining, and that the jackets would dry in that period of time, again to no avail. In all fairness when I got home I checked their web site (which I had never seen before) and it does state the jackets are for emergency only. However this is the only place I have encountered such a stupid rule. I feel it is a rip off, needless to say I will never go there again. but beware either take your own life jackets or be prepared to be jacked up for 10 bucks per jacket if you use theirs.
