Completely awful. I tell people that I pay luxury prices for section 8 housing. A million problems from day one. Unwilling to fix household problems, an elevator that is constantly broken, common areas that are perpetually dirty, overpriced laundry services, ROACHES. SO MANY ROACHES... and I am not a dirty girl. Don't turn on your microwave and have the kitchen light on... kills the power. I regret the day that I moved in. I can't tell you how many problems we have had in the past 2years we lived in one of Fineberg's apartments.. But I can tell you this: We have caught about 10 Mice so far while the Fineberg maintenance has not once properly inspected our unit. We have also had mold reaking on the bathroom walls (yes, the ones that get you sick and you can sue you landlord for!) and again, no immediate response! The management and the maintainance are also equally rude when you call or ask for help so We have decided that we are ending our lease soon. YES, that bad! read more

I'm giving 1 star because of how they manage, not of the properties itself. The unit in which I live is actually old but decent (liken it to 3/5 stars), but Fineberg has piss-poor response to their maintenance requests. Here are two of my worst experiences: I saw roaches multiple times. I tend to keep my space tidy and I'm not there often enough to create messes that attract infestation. When I first spotted roaches, I asked Fineberg to call pest control, to which they responded that they would come by on Friday. All they did was leave a single roach trap under my kitchen sink. I called again when I saw roaches a second time, and again, they left another roach trap. I ended up having to take care of the problem myself because it became clear after multiple calls that they wouldn't much more than that. During the winter, the heat coming through the pipes made my unit unbearably hot. I asked maintenance to come and apply insulation to the pipes to block the heat. Instead, the guy came in when I wasn't there, shut the radiator off, and managed to break my external hard disk while he was at it. Management claims they can't do anything about it, even though I have physical proof that they did. Bottom line - if you're not the kind to attract misfortune, rent with Fineberg. For the rest of us mere mortals, go elsewhere. read more

Need to be better win repair and maintenance. Shit show happened during shiftchange because one maintenance guy assumed the other one would do it and no one ever did anything. What can I say about fineberg management that hasn't already been said? I guess I wished i read some reviews before signing the lease. To give some context: I live in a 2 bedroom on comm ave around washington in brighton. My roomate and I were pretty desperate and signed the lease in late august. Its been one bad experience after another.... When we arrived there were painters here white-washing everything in the apartment. They must do this every year because there are built up layers of paint on all the doors, cabinets, bathroom pipes, etc. The doors to the bedrooms do not even shut fully because of all the built up paint (although there are functional locks.) The kitchen is disappointing. There are only a few cabinets, not nearly enough for the amount of food, pots/pans, dishes 2 people would have. No dishwasher. Some cabinets below the counter, we can only really use 3/4 because the bottom one is stuck and doesn't fit around the upper shelf. Exterminators come in every few months to lay sticky traps. Speaking of that, lots of flies, occasional roaches, and a definite mouse problem. We got a cat halfway through our year here (no way we're staying another year, rent is going up $50 from an already rediculous amount). He has fun leaving us dead mice in the morning, racked up 3 the first night he was here, 2 more the second night. Cable is comcast only, which really blows because for the young 20s grad student/your professionals, RCN offers a much more attractive offer. Bathroom is tiny, water situation is a joke. Shower goes from freezing cold to boiling lava hot (stolen from Jim Gaffigan) with the slightest turn of the dial. Also hot water runs out really quickly during the morning rush. Toilet runs on occasion. The heat situation is also a joke. Come winter time, the place alternates between cold and hot/musty. The heater makes all kinds of noise, i put a fan on to drown it out so I could sleep. In the summer the place is disgustingly hot, which is typical of brick/concrete apartments in the area. What isn't typical is the 15 amps of power for the ENTIRE APARTMENT!!! Circuit breaker actually has already tripped while I am writing this review. The 2 air conditioners we have take up about 10 amps, and the fridge takes 3.5-5.5 according to all the labels. That does't leave much room for tvs, computers, etc. If you want to make coffee or toast or something, you have to turn off one of the ACs. One of the bedrooms has a balcony. Its actually a nice retreat from teh rest of the apartment with a pleasant view of Brookline. The condition of the porch is not so pleasant. You see stories on the news every once in awhile about porches collapsing in the area; I could totally see this happening to mine. The bolts holding the support beams together have rusted away, and they conveniently painted of it. There are some workers here doing repair work to the porches, I can only hope for the health and safety of tenants to come (poor souls) that they fix this mess. I'm sure I could call in a building inspector or something, but that seems like too much effort. I realize I have typed alot, and I haven't even discussed interactions with management, I think this is enough for now. My final thought on fineberg management: I am moving back in with my parents in the fall. I figure this will allow me to save some money while I look for an apartment that is not managed by such a company. Yes, fineberg is so terrible that I will sacrifice the liberty of mid 20s to enjoy the simple comforts i took for granted. read more

Fineburg is great at answering their phone, sounding apologetic, and then doing absolutely nothing. Hope that you don't need anything more extreme than painting because that is just about all their maintenance team knows how to do. On the off chance that they do get maintenance to call you can bet it will be from a private number so you can't call back. Otherwise have fun with the banging heat, leaky pipes, rats, cockroaches, who knows what else. They even lost my rent check once, the one auto sent to them from the bank every month, they were real understanding on that one (sarcasm they were very rude). At least there is no security deposit. read more

At first the two bedroom managed by Fineberg seemed like a reasonable apartment. We were assured that a few maintenance actions were going to happen before we moved in. I ended up calling repeatedly over several weeks because they would only take three items at a time. Garbage was left in the unit from previous tenant including a propane tank on the fire escape. The bathroom and kitchen sinks leaded badly, and the building was infested with cockroaches. About a year into our two year slum residency they "upgraded" the electric from fuses to a single 15 amp circuit breaker for the whole two bedroom apartment. If I was vacuuming and the fridge cycled on everything went dark. We would have to turn something off to turn something else on. We could only run one air conditioner at a time. For a unit that size there should have been four times as much power going in. Fineberg claimed it had always been that way. I'm an electrical engineer. One summer we could run three air conditioners and the next summer we could barely run one. Getting out of that Fineberg managed building was one of the happier days of our renting lives. I would strongly suggest avoiding this management company. read more

I've had the misfortune of living in a Fineberg-managed building since last summer, and I'm counting down the days until my lease is up and I can get out. The apartment itself is functional, but anything that Fineberg is responsible for is a disaster. I should preface this by saying that as I fall into the "early-twenties young professional on a limited budget" category, I'm not expecting a penthouse suite and simply wanted a somewhat clean, somewhat affordable place to stay for a year or two. Instead, I got the following. Hot water that goes out (and I mean completely) for days at a time. Electricity that does the same for better parts of the day. Filthy staircases and common spaces with food and God knows what else left rotting for weeks... once there was blood spattered all over the front entrance and lobby, took days to clean up. An atrocious heating system that cranks out stifling, musty, 90-degree heat from October onward (I ran my AC for most of the winter). A rude third-party answering service for maintenance concerns, of which there were several, most notably a rusted out and malfunctioning toilet. Regular ant and roach infestations, which are a royal pain even if they're not in your unit because everyone has to get exterminated, meaning you have to deal with moving or covering the stuff in your kitchen. They were up front about telling me that they do not clean their apartments in between tenants, so this would be up to me... luckily the previous resident here was neat and I had very little to do in this regard. For all this, I pay nearly $1200 a month for my studio on Washington Street in Brighton. I was recently informed that due to economic circumstances beyond their control, rent for next year will be increased by about $100 (if I decided to extend my lease another year, I would get the special "discount" below the market rate). For the last couple weeks, I've had a steady parade of unsuspecting potential renters come through inquiring about next year. I feel bad for whoever gets sucked into this dump once I'm out of here. read more

Bed bugs, cockroaches, rats, ants, leaking walls, broken windows, peeling paint, unknown tar-like substance oozing from the kitchen walls. This building is utterly atrocious and should be condemned. I live on the fourth floor of 1334 Commonwealth Avenue, #24. I've lived here for eleven months and will be moving soon. There were bed bugs living in the baseboards of my apartment when I moved in. I then suffered having bed bugs for a month. I've continuously seen cockroaches, living and dead, throughout my apartment. Rats run along the baseboards regularly, traveling throughout the building via the giant holes in the floor that the furnace pipes go through. I regularly find rat droppings all over the surface of my oven range and around the kitchen trash can. Paint regularly falls off of the walls and ceiling, in large pieces. Apparently the plumbing for the entire building is linked, so that when residents below and above me flush the toilet or use hot water, it negatively affects the water temperature while I'm showering. Showering is a continuous struggle of readjusting the two temperature knobs in order to maintain a decent shower. The single washer in the basement, for serving all forty-odd apartments in the building, rarely works without spewing dirty water out the front door and leaving my clothes in a mess of cold dirty fluid. My bicycle lock was cut after a night of leaving it locked to the small iron fence in front of the building and my bicycle left in the gutter with a note taped to the seat that read "bicycles may not be stored in common areas." There is a sticky brown tar-like substance leaking down my kitchen walls, coming from an unknown source behind the wall cabinets. I think it is roach poison from ages ago, but thats just a guess. About a month into living here, I heard a crashing sound coming from the other room and found that the window frame had broken, the support system for the upper panel had cracked and now the window would not close. I called maintenance, who showed up while I was gone and left a note that said they hadn't found any evidence of a "broken window." Had to call again and have them return. The same problem has occurred three more times, on different windows. There is an area toward the ceiling of my bedroom, on the outer wall, that drips a continuous stream of water when it rains heavily. The ceiling and wall both have major water damage. I woke up in the middle of the night to find that everything being stored under my bed was sitting in a half inch of water. When I called the "emergency maintenance" line, the earliest anything could happen was the next day. When the guy showed up, he said it was a problem with the outside of the building, and that it needed to be "re-pointed." Which I assume is some kind of masonry term. He said that he wasn't able to do that, but he could patch the inside of my walls. He did so, and the same thing happened the next time it rained. I didn't bother calling again. My lease also says that gas is included in my rent price of 1495 per month, but i've been receiving bills from NGrid all year that read "Occupant." I haven't opened them and I hope there isn't some kind of miscommunication between Fineberg and NGrid, but hopefully that gets cleared up for the next resident. I would highly stress NOT renting an apartment or residence managed by Fineberg. At LEAST not in this building. read more

My apartment with Fineberg is just short of a slum. The place is a complete death trap and whenever we call maintenance they either don't come or they say they can't help us. Mold in the bathroom, filthy windows (too high to clean ourselves), broken shelves in cupboards, windows that don't open, mice issues, YUCK! The managers are borderline satanic. Sometimes you have bad businesses, and other times you have bad people...i truly in my heart believe that the people who work here are bad people. They have yelled at me, scolded me, and spoke to me like i was some child on numerous occasions. When all i was doing was making simple requests. They always seem pissed off, and on MULTIPLE occasions i have made simple requests and every single time there response was, we are a big company we have over 300 properties and we don't care...we can't do that. In the time they took to talk to me on the phone they could have helped me out, but instead they wanted to just be bad people and say they can't do it because they are big...like "What time should i move out' - we are too big to answer that figure it out... Even better the woman told me to leave my stuff outside and have friends watch it, she didn't care. I paid a fee for my new apartment, and was happy to do so to not work with truly awful people like this. I legitimately moved out of this apartment not cause of the place or the cost, but because these people made my life that difficult. And if you don't believe me, i challenge you to ask ANY realtor in boston, literally anyone what they heard about FIneberg...they are equally as mean to realtors, and i would not wish this type of treatment on anyone. Do not live here, and do not support bad people like this who think they can do whatever they want. I've lived in several buildings in Boston while I went to college, and moved into a property owned by Fineburg last September. They are by FAR the rudest management company I've ever had to deal with. We could tell there would be problems on day 1 when moving in. The apartment was not cleaned as required when a new tenant is moving in, and the door and bathtub were unpainted. During the winter rats and roaches get into the buildings. We call maintenance often, which is also a bad experience. IT'S THEIR JOB TO FIX STUFF - but they make you feel bad about calling by being rude. There are many nicer places, better kept, and at the same rent fee that Fineberg charges, in the Boston area. Aviod this damn company at all costs. P.S. This is truly the WORST management company I have ever seen in my life. And I've lived in several apartments. There are literally not enough bad things I can say about them. Here's my laundry list of things that have happened: -Some days there's no hot water. All you have ice water. I'm talking it's 5 degrees in January, and you wake up to ICE water. This happened 5 times while I lived here. -Sometimes the electricity goes out for the entire building for the better part of a day/night. And there's nothing you can do about it. -Whenever there is ANY sort of large-scale problem (like the two mentioned above), the maintenance company - which is a third party ANSWERING service - does something so that the phone hangs up on you when you call. In other words, you CANNOT get in touch with anyone at maintenance. Period. -On more than one occasion, I've had Fineberg personnel and brokers enter my apartment without ANY notice. Even after I'd written a certified letter requesting 24 hours notice. This is a huge invasion of privacy. -The buildings are rundown and FILTHY. They never really clean them. Once, there was a pile of half-eaten chicken wings lying on the stairs, and they stayed there for a week. -There is only ONE washer/dryer. And when it breaks down, guess what - you have to call the washing machine company directly. Otherwise, it never gets fixed. -The shower water goes in a cycle from scalding (no exaggeration) hot to icy cold. The entire time. -The walls are absolutely paper thin. The girl next door to me sleeps with her TV on all night. And she keeps it low. And I can still hear it through earplugs. It is truly unbelievable what an issue this is. -The apartment is a heat trap. The whole building is about 10 degrees hotter than outside (no AC). Which makes the building smells worse, by the way. -Management - if you can ever actually get them on the phone - are nasty and rude, until it comes time to renew your lease. These include people named Gina and Howard West. The list goes one. Altogether, Fineberg Management (otherwise known as The Fineberg Companies) is an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. I've lived with fineberg for about 6 years, and am now moving out of location. I think they're known for great space for your buck, and they always took care of my building. Maintenance was always pretty easy to track down, and they always treated me with respect. I'd do it again. I have lived in my studio apt at 1334 Comm Ave for almost two years now and the only reason I give 2 stars is because my apartment itself is adorable and I love the location... however, I have had all of the same issues as everyone else listed above. I too had ice cold water for probably 2-3 weeks straight. It was drinkable. We all know how unpredictable the weather in Boston is and getting up for an 8 am class with ice cold water is not the best way to start the day in the fall/winter. My water is now hot, but as listed above, it will go from scalding to luke warm all throughout my shower. Quite annoying. The maintenance... where do I begin?! I have had a pesky mouse for almost a year now. I've had the maintenance men come (who, by the way, are very nice) twice now and we still can't get rid of this mouse. He is the smartest mouse I've ever known. Now, I understand I live in a city and buildings have mice, but when I pay $1000+ every month, I would expect them to respect me and try to fix the problem a little better. The woman was downright rude and literally told me she didn't have time for my complaint and didn't want to take my call. She was of absolutely no help! I've also called for a leaking ceiling in my bathroom and they apparently forgot to come. I have seen cockroaches in the basement, but I don't know how much I can blame them. It is an old building, there is garbage down there, and it's Boston. I have not, thank god, seen any in my apt. The walls are thin, I have been extremely unlucky with my above neighbors. The person now walks like a horse every chance he/she gets. And it seemed like it took him/her 3 months to move in because literally everyday I heard someone moving furniture. The couple last year was extremely loud, they fought all the time and I could make out pretty much every word. I also don't like the fact that I have bars on all my windows. It recently occurred to me that if there were ever a fire in the hallway, I have no way out. That's my only exit. I am planning on calling them about this when I come back from my break. I don't know if this is the same in every other apt. Now I know I've said some not so nice things, but I'm being as honest as possible. I love my apt. It's a great size for a studio, price is applicable, and I love Allston. I just wish I really was getting what I paid for! I feel safe in this area, I think the building is safe, and I find they keep the building and lawn very clean. read more

Their property managers are extremely rude, are not helpful and do not return your calls (especially Sandy). On move in day last September they were painting our walls which made it nearly impossible to move anything in. The apartment was also DISGUSTING... now I did not expect them to clean it necessarily but it was beyond gross. One time there was a rat literally the size of a cat in our apartment. I called and asked them to come remove it immediately and it took them over 6 hours to come... the whole time I locked myself in my bedroom. This is the worst apartment building that I have ever lived in. I am paying a relatively high rent for what I thought would be a great building in a great location (I am in the buildings on Boylston in Fenway). However, the outside planters are filled with large rats. Every time I turn the light on in the bathroom or the kitchen cockroaches twice the size of a quarter go running across the floor! The toilet does not flush, and they still have not fixed it even though i have called them several times. The toilet seat has also been broken off since we moved in, another thing not fixed. They came in and re painted the walls after I showed them the large pieces of chipping paint all over the walls. Instead of sanding the chipping paint off from underneath the just put another coat on top of it. And, you guessed it, the paint is once again peeling off. The latch on the bedroom door does not work, another problem I have contacted them about before. The washer and dryer for the buildings on this street are not only overpriced but they are so filthy! It looks like detergent and pubic hairs have been caked on the washers for years and never cleaned. Almost every package sent to this building gets stolen. There have been break ins on my floor. Almost all of the people in the building are from berklee school of music so there is loud drumming, guitar playing, singing and even piano playing at all hours of the day and night. For a grad student that has internship, work, and school I would like to be able to fall asleep before 3 am. Lastly, the inside of the building always smells and is always trashed because there are mainly undergrads living here who leave their trash everywhere. The only good thing I can say about this building is that after I called them and showed them the horrible conditions of the apartment they gave me new kitchen floors and a new stove (because ours did not work) and a new fridge (because ours had so much rust and would not get cold) right away. This is one of the worst living conditions I have ever been in for an outrageous price. I am appalled that there are not laws against letting a building get this bad. I wish someone would have told me how horrible this place was before I moved in. Whatever you do... do not move in to the buildings on Boylston in Fenway!! You will regret it! read more

My experience has been awful with my building managed by Fineberg. They don't completely ignore the building, but they will only try the bare minimum. I moved in on Sept. 2, the whole place had been painted. All the cabinets were hard to open the first time because they had all been painted shut, they painted something gross into the table, definitely didn't wipe it off first. They got paint on the windows and doornobs too. Beautiful. The next week they came in, without giving me notice, and replaced all the lightbulbs and put blinds on the windows. Which was nice, except when I came in I thought someone broke in to steal my things because there was broke glass all over the floor from a broken lightbulb. They must have forgotten that people actually live in these apartments. This is my first place, so I didn't have cleaning supplies yet. So I called the facilities and asked them to come clean it up. I came home from work the next day, and it looked clean. Silly me to actually trust that it was clean. I got a piece of glass lodged into my foot, so while I was waiting for it to stop bleeding so much so I could get the glass out I started looking around the floor around me and eventually accumulated a small pile of glass shards. Thanks jerks. I called again and got, "What do you want me to do? They cleaned it." They didn't clean it well. At least I would like an apology and a promise that they will do a better job managing their facilities company. Anyway, the place is fine for college students who don't mind over paying for rent and not having to worry about how they treat the place, because clearly the management company doesn't care either. read more

No heating in December - I could manage (although its just illegal - after 2 weeks of snowstorms and bad flu it eventually got sorted out) No hot water all through January (I should be specific - there is hot water when no one else in the entire building is using it, so that means.. at 3 in the morning sometimes...) I could still manage. Water cut out altogether occasionally - very horrible but comes with a sense that hot water might return, so bearable. But being called up and yelled at by the Fineberg office (not maintenance, the managers) being accosted because I had no hot water: that was too much! I wish giving someone negative stars was an option. I have never written an online review about anything; however, this building is a constant hell so I had to write something. These apartments are absolute slums, and the management is impossible to work with. The paint is peeling, the lights are going out in the halls, the ovens don't work, there is mold on the bathroom ceilings, and the hot water for the showers cuts off around 7:30 am. You hear absolutely EVERYTHING that goes on in the apartment above you. You put in a maintenance request and no one ever comes. You get locked out of you apartment and it's $50 cash just to open your door (and trust me, the super will not let you in until you promise to run across the street to the nearest ATM) and that's after you've been sitting outside your apartment for 2 hours! I have lived in five different cities and I always find low-rent housing; however, I have never had an experience like this. What can I say, I wish I would have read the reviews before moving in. read more

We lived at 1626 Commonwealth. PERKS: the view was spectacular and close to T. Also a nice walk to the Chestnut Hill Reservoir. CONS: just about everything else. No fire escape, only a fire "balcony" off of the kitchen. For half the time we lived there, it wasn't bolted on one side. I'm not sure how this would help in the event of a fire. 15 amps. If the microwave was on, I would have to unplug half the appliances or it would trip the breaker. Toilet was so low-flow that it would take 2-3 flushes for every use. The heater clanged loudly and I mean loudly. Would often get really warm and humid and would have to leave the windows open in the winter. Speaking of windows - almost all of them fell off the tracks and the management would not fix them. So, they were either open completely or closed completely. The elevator was a death trap. It got ungodly hot and musty in the summer time and with only 15 amps it was almost impossible to cool with a window unit and do anything else that required electricity. The floors were uneven and scratched easily. About fifteen coats of paint made it difficult to shut the doors. The stairs to the basement (laundry and trash room) were windy and uneven. Almost fell many times. The trains were loud and the cab drivers were even louder. Tiny, tiny closets. Fire alarms went off all the time in the winter and the management was really rude about the inconvenience this caused. The most memorable one was at 15 degree 4am morning. No one came to turn off the alarm until after 6am. Incredibly overpriced. read more

This place was pretty bad from the beginning. First off, the whole apartment was full of holes and large gaps between the baseboard and the wall that the mice used as an entrance into the apartment. We had to end up sealing these gaps ourselves to keep Mr. Jingles out. The tiles were falling off the walls in the bathroom. The walls had not been repaired properly, so there were large, flimsy, cardboard-ish areas of wall. Roaches were becoming an issue when we moved out. The thing that pissed me off the most was that on the day we were moving out (it was our apartment until the night of August 31st, mind you). We moved out early in the morning on the 31st and left a few things behind so we could clean up when we were finished unloading at the new place. When we returned at 11am the same day, we found that the maintenance workers had already been in, cleaned, and made off with about $75 worth of new cleaning supplies. Fineberg will do nothing about it either - they probably encourage their crappy cleaning staff to take stuff. So, whatever you do, don't leave ANYTHING in the apartment when you finally move out. Try to take everything at one time or leave someone behind to look out for your stuff. read more

The apartment has been totally acceptable in my opinion. My problems concern the parking situation; anybody who is considering paying for parking through these properties might want to rethink. My roommate rented a parking spot, and because our building's lot was full she was relocated to the next closest lot, no big deal. The lot however was referred to only as the "Tappan St. lot" and we therefore assumed it would be easy to find. Cut to Friday night: we're driving up and down Tappan St. trying to determine which of the 7 parking lots is ours, and the management office is obviously closed so we can't call to ask for more specifics. Finally find a lot with a sign for the same towing company that was on our parking permit, and an empty space at what looks to be spot 5 (our spot). After two weeks of hassle-free parking, I go to check the car's inspection sticker for my roommate while she is home (in Pennsylvania) for the week while her father is sick and the car has been towed. I will spare you the story of my tow-company struggles, but after retrieving the car I am back in the same place I was before, trying to locate the correct lot in order to not be towed again. Fineberg has provided me with some clarification though: I am looking for a spot against a 2-story cinderblock garage with a staircase somewhere. Ugh. (My point I guess is that they NEED signs, or should at least give you a clear description of the lot or photos or something!) read more

I would give negative stars if possible. I can write a book out of problems I had with my apartment. Starting from molds in the bathroom, cockroaches appearing from everywhere (I lived on the top floor too, the entire building was infested with bugs), room doors literally falling apart, being locked in the room because the door knob was broken, radiator suddenly shooting out water everywhere... and so on. The company is very slow (and rude) in responding to your requests. If they say "we will get back to you" that means we will never call you back unless you chase us down. Disgusting, horrible. I cannot believe I lasted an entire year at my apt with Fineberg on Washington street in Brighton. Mice, dirty, loud, terrible security, bitchy third party maintenance hotline women, maintenance people themselves were very nice, but showed up with NO NOTICE. EVER!? Biggest waste of time and money in my life spending time there. My friends and family come to my new apt across the Charles (for 150 dollars extra a month I have NONE of the above, plus a garage) and tell me how happy they are I got out of the Fineberg hell hole. I'm another one who wishes to give negative stars. All the negative comments that have been left I'd just like to back them up in this review. THEY ARE ALL TRUE!!! There are too many complaints to write in one review but the worst part about this company is that they truly refuse to make repairs and they refuse to do anything about the mice except leave sticky traps. No matter how often I tell them to fill in the holes the mice love to get in through they won't do it. My building has also smelled putrid for the last week and nothing has been done. I honestly believe this place has negative effects on one's health as well. I've been getting chronic headaches since moving in and my bf swears this apt makes him feel drowsy. It could be any number of things making us feel horrible; the dust, the mice, the mold, the putrid smell of shit wafting throughout the building. Just don't move here. read more

Ridiculous place! We have been renting there for 6 months and are already looking forward to move out! The problem that upsets me the most is the first one: 1) Extremely noisy neighbors, from all the sides (up, down...). They are a bunch of teenagers who think are more important than the others. They don't known how to share a building. They walk stomping around, loud music, parties all the time, drunk teenagers, dirty everywhere.... And when you talk to them, they behave like idiots, treating you like shit. If you are someone professional, searching a place to sleep after work.... do not come here. But if you want to get drunk, sleep in your own vomit... then here is the right place! And do not waste your time complaining to the management, they don't not care! I called three time, sent emails.... they don`t do anything. That manager, K..., is incompetent. 2) The front door is frequently broken, so they let it open. That means that anyone can enter the building, residents or not, rapers or not.... 3) The heater does not warm enough, so we have to compensate with an electrical one, increasing the electricity bill. 5) Insects everywhere, although I don't really care about this one. 4) The dryer machine in the laundry does not work, and I don;t care much either because there is a laundromat. I did not believe in the reviews I read before singing a lease. Now I regret a lot! Moving out that crap whole! read more

HORRIBLE!!! They NEVER repair anything! They are very RUDE and just hang up the phone. They tell you they will come and never come. If you have a foreign accent, they treat you as if you were an idiot. The pipes in our apartment are very noisy so that we cannot sleep at night. The heating system in general is awful and smells horribly. The windows do not close properly. I would never rent again with Fineberg. read more

Cockroaches everywhere, old, rusted, worn-down appliances not to mention fuse blew anytime you had more than two things running at the same time. Dealing with the people at fineberg was just as miserable. Reception woman was always rude and rarely did requests get filled correctly (had to call 4 times to get something fixed a few times) If you can help it , rent somewhere else. read more

Sorry BB, I have to disagree with you. The buildings they manage are bad and the service is just a little bit better (two stars, maybe). I would give 1 star and half if I could. The quality of the room I received was bad. The wooden floor is just ridiculously bad maintained; last month I had a big cut on my foot because if on wooden piece of the floor was sharp and stood up when I stomped on it. Most of the cabinets doesn't close and that bottom part of the refrigerator was broken. Sometimes the elevator breaks and normally took them about one week to fix it. I live in the fifth floor and when I was climbing down the stair I slipped in a coffee (or something brown) pool and kind snapped my knee. The maintenance doesn't respond as they should; one the girls was nice, all others were extremely rude. I have been requesting the heater to be fixed for about three months and they simply don't solve the problem and neither call me back (I have the calls recorded). About 50% of the time I call the maintenance, no one answers. This is is unexpected, since they are supposed to be open up to 4pm and I call them normally between 1:30 - 2:00. Once I was sleeping and some lady from the fineberg office called me screaming at me that I had to stop doing noises in my apartment. I've tried to explain to them that couldn't be me since I was sleeping but she didn't care (in fact, the one who called them complaining was the neighbor below me but the one doing the noise was the one above me, as he was moving for three days). The call was extremely rude with no apologies at all. They sometimes do things right, to be fair. When I had problems with my stove, the technician called me and explained how it worked although it took three days for this. Recently I had one of my packages stolen from me; Although this is not their fault, the quality of tenants they accept is really bad. Some of them let the trash just in corridor and some are criminals. Now I will try to talk to them to find a way to break my contract without any of the parties suffering losses. Let's see how it goes; depending on the process, I will improve or decrease the stars. Summary: Avoid them if possible. (Edit: Basically anything is better than that dump) Edit: Just talked to them and the were extremely rude. They kept interrupting me while I was speaking and spilling out fees and fees. They don't care about the contract they broke by not fixing the heater. Less than one star and I am going to sue them. read more

Do NOT RENT these apartments. Please do not live here.I wish I had not signed a lease but unfortunately I was in a hurry. I live in the Fenway apartments on Boylston Street and the management is absolutely terrible, disrespectful, and they are not held unaccountable or responsible for what they do (actually for all the things they don't do) For example, management stated that the elevator would be out of service for 1 week to be repaired. However it took them 4wks and 3 days to repair the elevator. I called management several times, since their office is only open between 8-4pm I left messages with the answering call service requesting that someone call me back with further information. After calling 4 times, no one ever called me back. Finally I called during office hours at 8:30am, and surprise, no one was in the office and the call went straight to the answering machine. They clearly are not professionals if they can't even make it to their management offices on time. Finally I called them at 10:30 am, they answered my call and asked me to call the corporate office for further information and they were not able to tell me why my prior calls had not been acknowledged and why they did not respond to me. Corporate of course told me it would be fixed soon, within the week, and then it only got fixed 2 wks later. Another example, one of the laundry machines is always out of order. i had called management to no avail since they said they told me they were not responsible for the laundry machine. In the 4-5x that I called them they never mentioned that I should call the laundry machine company to get it fixed. I only found out I had been calling the wrong number 2 months later, when I called the corporate office and they finally told me I had to call another number. I have definitely had the worst customer service when it comes to dealing with management. They always pass you off to someone else and nothing ever gets fixed. DO NOT LIVE AT A FINBURG APARTMENT. Terrible place to live (Fenway apartment rentals). No one is happy with these slum lords, and I'm constantly running in to people in the halls who are trying to get out of their leases. This is the worst management company ever. Believe me, I have stayed in one of their buildings for one year. We almost have gone through every possible problem you can imagine in this apartment. Broken lights all the time in the bathroom, disgusting washroom when we moved in, rats, bugs, and stink from the kitchen. The bathtub has been constantly clogged. And the most important thing, whenever you called the management, they always said they would come today. However, they never show up as scheduled. We have been waiting for one week to fix the light, and three or four days to fix the drain. It feels so bad that you cannot take a shower because of the clogged bathtub in summer. Those maintenance people just do not care. The lady who picked up the phone was so impolite. What she said was only she did not know. Come on, if you know nothing, why you sat there and picked up the phone! When you asked if the maintenance would come in today, she just said 'I do not know, since I am on the phone with you'. 1000% fucking HORRIBLE. i dont think ive ever used the washing machines without them eating $2-4, and 80% of the machines are always broken. week after week. you can't even turn on the microwave without having to go to the basement to reset your fuse box. mice and roaches run rampant. don't even bother calling the office, just a bunch of cheap douche bags who won't help you fix THEIR problems. Also, makes a ton of sense that rent goes up 7% after one year, more than doubling the rate of inflation...yet there are no improvements to the thousands of problems in the buildings, all money that goes straight in the Fineberg's pockets.
