Great layout lots of space to move around. Super clean and well run. Great books divided by generation which is great. Audio books , large type, music cd's and movie dvd's this place has it all check it out. They are also part of RCLS so if they don't have it they can't get it from some other library for you easily.

I really enjoyed their summer reading program they offered this year for adults. My biggest complaint is with a few of the staff members. There are a few staff who are very rude and unhelpful. A few times I asked an older gentleman for help and he quickly responded in a rude matter, saying I can't help you. He wouldn't even try to ask a colleague or attempt to help me. I finally found a different librarian and they had to remedy the situation and teach their colleague the process. On the other hand, there are many librarians who are very friendly and helpful, but it doesn't go for everyone. In addition, they are very quick to accuse you of damaging books. The smallest tear or stain requires you to pay a large fine to replace the book. There is something called wear and tear that happens when books are lent out to people and that's the reality of a library. Overall, I am happy with the library and appreciate the resources.

Libraries can be one of the best places in a town. While Montvale Library is not the largest or the…read moremost bustling (the quieter the better, i say), it has a good selection of materials (books, music, games, movies, puzzles, magazines, hot spots), periodic events and book clubs, and some of the friendliest librarians around, just the types you picture. There are a couple private rooms and enough tables and chairs if you need to stay awhile. Like other library systems you can order materials from any of the bergen county system libraries. There's a private lot so parking is always easy. Closed on Sundays.
