I'm so grateful that places like Finn's still exist in our city. Listen, I get that some folks like the nicer things in life. To be honest, there are certain categories that I absolutely prefer to be upscaled too (e.g. nicer seats on a plane, better location in any city I am staying in...etc etc). That said, when it comes to bars...well I just don't get it I guess. Give me a regular bar that plays good music and serves cheap drinks during happy hour instead of a pricy "fancy" bar or lounge any day of the week. Have I been accused of loving dive bars more than once? Yes, but why wouldn't I? I always find people to be more fun in places that are more relaxed than upscale. Anyway, Finn's isn't a dive bar per se, but it is a local bar that has a pretty solid happy hour game. They also happen to serve hotdogs at a cheap price which absolutely makes it feel a bit more divey....but when you are too busy at work to eat lunch and don't want to get hammered off one beer they sure do come in handy. They also have a backyard that's great for summertime and birthday parties. If you're looking for a regular bar in Prospect Heights, you should think of Finn's.

The ambiance is perfect for a drink after work. It's very lively and has plenty of space for sitting! I love the happy hour deals for wine. It makes me so happy that rose is on the happy hour list! And that is what I always get. If I am not mistaken, all the wines on the list are $5. Again, I believe that there is a white and red wine available. I don't remember because the minute I saw the word rose, I was like yup. That's for me! Just two of those bad boys are enough for me to feel it. Lol. The bartender that is always there on Fridays is quick with getting our drinks and accommodating to myself and co-workers who go here. I don't really care for the food here. For some reason, my husband and I always order a pretzel. Every time, we're disappointed at how hard and dry the pretzel is... but it's our go-to bar food. Lol. A plus for the people who care for this is that they have TVs usually playing the popular games that people want or need to watch. Love Finn's and you could call me a regular at this establishment since I'm there every Friday. Haha.

Best Ohio state bar in Brooklyn, by far. Sound on. Ask ace for a shot to get the day started. Get a pretzel. Order in some chicken, cause take outs fair game at Finn's. O H RIP fourth down in Williamsburg Finns is new fourth down, now you know

Pete and Mike run the place. They are veterans. There are darts to be played. Sports to be watched. A great juke box. It can be quiet or raucous. But it is mostly about the people, those behind the bar and the ones who come to be at place where everyone knows your name. There is Brett, the boxer, who tends bar on Saturday nights. Jennifer, a rocker who throws a mean game of darts, who will be working Sundays. Joanne, who made me a Bloody Mary as my dad, Joe the Bartender, would have done. Tracy, who is my counsel. And Anna, a bright light who works with her hands as a welder. Come have a beer,,order a pizza in, and meet some good folk. I am from Boston, and old enough to have gone to the original Cheers bar, before the tourists arrived. Here, everyone knows your name.

Finn's is what a neighborhood bar should be. Well-priced drinks, bartenders who get to know you, pool, darts, and Kim's Kimpanadas.

In general, I like the mellow / peaceful vibes of outer borough NYC Irish pubs at lunchtime. McMahon's did not disappoint. Solid buffalo chicken wings & good burger. I am also post fries (I will try one or two of yours, but I don't need an order of fries for myself.), so can't comment on the fries. They also make a mean Caesar salad. The Caesar & buffalo wings are pretty much my metric for all Irish pubs. McMahon's would def be in the upper 50th percentile. There are a bunch of negative reviews for this spot on here for when they are very busy, on Barclays Center game nights and / or weekends. I feel like, if you read between the lines, it's people coming in groups when it's busy acting entitled. The staff at lunch has been nothing but courteous, w/ excellent service. Also, very clean inside, & food was good quality / fresh ingredients. There are almost no Irish pubs in this area open for lunch anymore at all - thank goodness this is a good one!

I'm Dominican so I know oxtail pretty well and have made it myself. Thankfully, this place absolutely delivered. The oxtail was perfectly slow-braised, tender, and falling right off the bone -- exactly how it should be. Absolutely amazing. Of course I had the rice and peas, plus some veggies. A few of the veggies were slightly overcooked, but still flavorful and enjoyable. The drinks looked incredible, but I went with the rum punch and loved it. It was a little sweet, but super flavorful, strong, and definitely worth ordering again. For dessert, I had the Hennessy cheesecake, which was rich, decadent, and unbelievably delicious. There were three of us dining, and we all left completely satisfied -- with take-home containers because the portions are VERY generous. The only thing that bothered me a bit was that our server seemed to focus most of her attention on my friend. She is Jamaican, and because I look like a white American woman, I felt a little overlooked at times, even when I had several requests myself. We also had to look for her a couple of times while she was sitting with a group nearby. That said, everyone overall was very nice and welcoming. The bussers especially stood out -- they checked on us often, kept everything clean, and even greeted me in Spanish, which I appreciated. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience and will definitely be back with more people next time.

For my hubby, Brooklyn is home - and we always love exploring the new places the city has to offer when we visit. We had reservations, and were seated within 10 minutes, which was reasonable. The place was packed - everyone was in high spirits, and I was ready to taste some of the best Caribbean cuisine in the region. My hubby's best friend - a Brooklyn resident, joined us. He had been to the restaurant a few times - and had good things to say. We were not disappointed. I had the Brown Stew Red Snapper - *chef's kiss*. Hubby had the iconic Jerk Oxtail over Macaroni & Cheese Pie! The English language cannot convey the beauty of that combination! Tender, tender oxtail, falling off the bone with the creamy, cheesy mac & cheese! He wanted to savor that dish another day, so he got a to-go bag and took it back to the hotel! (I couldn't help but clean my plate - I was obsessed with the fish!) Our friend enjoyed the Hennessy Fried Shrimp (not pictured) - one of his favorite dishes at the restaurant. It looked delicious as well. For drinks, I had the Bob Marley cocktail. A colorful drink - flavorful - and effective! There were people celebrating their birthdays throughout the night - and the wait staff goes IN! I was enjoying watching at least 10 people receive the Stevie Wonder "Happy Birthday" song while we were there. Imagine my surprise when it was my turn! My birthday was the day before, and we had already celebrated in Manhattan. Having two special recognition events made the evening that much more special! Shout out to the Simpson crew who came with the song, the rhythm, the sparkling cake, and the good vibes! My 70th birthday was exceptional - without a doubt. The Simpson added the touch I needed. We'll definitely go back next time we're in Brooklyn!

As someone who has come to this bar regularly to watch Knicks playoff games, I can confidently say…read moreI will never return after what happened during the NBA Finals last night. What this bar pulled was completely unacceptable. They were openly reserving seats at the bar for certain people while telling everyone else they were unavailable. There was no advertised reservation policy, no advance notice, and no opportunity offered to regular customers. Apparently, the only way to get a seat is to know the owner, know the bartenders, or be part of the inner circle. What made it even worse was that my group had been sitting at the bar, ordering food and drinks starting around 7:30 PM, only to be forced out of our seats at 7:45 PM. The reservation signs on those seats clearly stated they were reserved for 8:15 PM. We were paying customers actively spending money, yet we were removed 30 minutes before the supposed reservation time. That is absolutely egregious behavior. I've worked in sports bars and have owned sports bars in New York City. In all my years in the business, I have never heard of reserving seats directly at the bar--especially during a major sporting event. It goes against everything that makes a sports bar successful. Bar seats have always been first-come, first-served. That's Sports Bar 101. I've spent plenty of money here over the years because it was always a great place to watch big games: good atmosphere, sound on the TVs, and a fun crowd. Unfortunately, last night proved that customer loyalty means absolutely nothing. Regular patrons were treated like second-class citizens while preferred customers received special treatment. For a bar that markets itself as a neighborhood sports destination, this was incredibly disappointing, unprofessional, and frankly insulting. If you're planning to watch a major game here, don't assume you'll be treated fairly. Unless you're friends with the right people, don't expect the same experience as everyone else. There are plenty of other sports bars in Brooklyn that understand how to treat customers. After last night, I'll be spending my money there instead. I won't be back, and I certainly won't be recommending this place to anyone. Let's Go Knicks
